Re: I Was Wrong When...
I thought picking up RG3's 5th year option was a sign he had secretly done something to impress the Redskins brass during some off season workouts we didn't hear about. Then I was listening to the talking heads saying he looked improved in practice. I was all expecting to see the new improved RG3. Then preseason games start and he looked like the same deer in the headlights he was last season.

Don't you mean that the team was wrong for picking up the option? I'm on your side here.

Daseal and I both literally high-fived and did a shot of Fireball to these selections. "How could Rambo fall that far?! DIVISION CHAMPS THIS YEAR!" |

I feel misled! BTW, I was also wrong when I thought the tandem of Taylor and Landry would have us set at the safety positions for a decade. I've never been so unhappy about being wrong. |

I was wrong for ever thinking and promoting the thought that RG3 would turn it around with the burgundy and gold. We just gave up so much... And I wanted the world to eat theyre words.

The protocol may address it but the story makes no mention of it. Suppose team A brings a cold ball in at 12.5 PSI and team B brings their balls in warmer at 12.5 PSI. If the balls are checked quickly, team B will be playing with balls that do not meet the spec and team A will be. There's still an opportunity to play with the gray areas here. All 48 balls should be allowed time to normalize to a given temperature before testing. F1 racing is having a similar conversation now as well. Teams at Monza were given a minimum tire pressure by Pirelli but F1 and Pirelli had a vague policy on when to test the pressures and at what temperature to do the test. F1 teams regularly use heat blankets to warm the tires prior to the race. The time that passes between removal of the heat blanket and testing could greatly affect the outcome of the pressure check. Also, I have heard no mention of what gas should be used. Different gas ratios, air being approx 78% nitrogen, 21% Oxygen and 1% Argon and misc gasses. Different ratios will do different things in response to temperature changes. Also moisture content affects the same. If I want to have a ball that doesn't lose air pressure during the game, a la Aaron Rodgers, I might use a drier air with more nitrogen. If I want to still get lower pressures for a better grip and it's going to be a cold game, I might want moist air with more oxygen content. The NFL has done little to address the reality of what's happening and honestly I don't think they understand basic, 10th grade chemistry. I promise I could, within those rules, get a ball that is softer during the game. There's just too many variables that haven't been addressed. The truth is, it shouldn't even be a rule. If GB and NE are playing and Rodgers wants rock hard 14psi balls and Brady wants a softer 12psi ball, who is hurt by that? The on field product is going to be better and there is very little effect on the game itself. If it matters that much to everyone then the NFL should provide all balls, with the exact same dimensions and filled with the same gas and at the same pressure. |
Re: I Was Wrong When...
I simply cannot read posts that start talking about "the temperature of the balls at the time of testing" without hearing Beevis and Butthead "heh heh ... heh heh ... you said balls heh heh."
"The time of testing" sounds like a wonderful new euphemism. "I took one look at her shoulders and could not wait for the time of testing." (CRed knows what I'm talking about). |

Exactly, Snyder would have Tony Wyllie do it. |

The preseason Matt Jones love fest definitely got outta control, Morris proved his worth last week.

Im with you. Hah. I want to resist even responding to your comment on his post but I cannot. Serious LOL. Its equally as funny imagining DS posting that as it is someone believing that its DS. Sorry but Bleacher report or any other social media outlet - no way DS is threatening someone with a baseball bat to the face. Thats just good stuff. LOL |

Definitely. I'm still very high on Jones, don't get me wrong, it's just clear Morris has the spot locked up. Watching them mesh/play together should be fun. |
Re: I Was Wrong When...
Where was this sixth gear all preseason with Morris? I don't think he's ever looked that explosive since he was drafted. I mean he looked like same ol' beast Morris in preseason but I saw a gear I haven't seen out of him last week.

nah, he still got run down from behind. he just started breaking tackles and pushing the extra yards. maybe he wasn't trying that hard in the preseason? dunno. |

I think we'll roll with the hot hand, today it was Jones. Having a tandem like we do is a nice luxury.

No doubt.. I think Callahan is to thank for a lot of what we'll see from those two but 30-35 carries between those two is going to keep them both fresh and beat down defenses and take some pressure off Cousins. Perry Fewell has done a good job with that secondary too. 3 coaching changes might be the best moves the Redskins made this year. |

Through 2 weeks they have looked stellar, and they haven't played a full game with all 11 starters out there. |

Yeah man I'm excited. How about d hall? This guy has really been a good player for us. Yeah he got beat today but he's been a fighter for us. Love his passion. I expect a big defensive outing against a very avg oline in ny. We'll see

I used to hate D-hall.. he always ran his mouth and bit on everything to give up too many big plays. But this past 2-3 years, he's impressed me. He seems to be a smart veteran now. Somewhere the switch flipped and I'm glad it did. He's a good guy to have on this team.. |
