Question...would any of you who don't like the idea of gay marriage vote against a proposition similar to prop 8 if it were on your state ballet?
Yeah, I know. I expected such a response. When I say glorification, what I mean is you can't turn on the tv without some obviously gay dude prancing around, setting a miserable example of how a man is supposed to act. I know, I know, if you don't like it, turn it off. The point is if you ask me should this be, I would say no, it should not. But... rationally you have to accept the world as it is.

And to Matty's point... teaching acceptance is exactly what I plan to do, but I'd really prefer it if I didn't have to worry about them seeing it before I felt they were ready. Put it this way, I don't personally care for those that use drugs either, but I feel it's their right to do so. I still don't want anyone smoking a blunt or shooting heroine in front of my kids. Sure, i can explain to them what drugs are and what addiction is, but there are some realities that can wait.
What would you do if you had a gay child, or if you found out a close friend or relative was gay?

And to the point in bold, there are plenty more jerkoff hetero guys out there setting bad examples of how a man should act. I would probably be more concerned about that if you ask me, because if your child isn't gay, a gay person isn't likely to have much of a direct influence on them. He or she is going to be influenced by people they can relate to.

And what channels are you watching? I really can't recall the last time I turned on the TV to see a gay guy 'prancing around' setting bad examples.
I didn't make them. It's not my part to figure out why they're effed up. I am of the opinion that many of them were sexually abused as children, some of it's a choice, and some were born sexually retarded. I don't know? You'll have to ask God.

No, you have reached the point to where you think two perverts sodomozing each other is normal. They don't call themselves queer (AKA strange) because they think they're normal. Why should I? If you can look at Dennis Rodman and think he's normal then well, I guess we've crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

We in Virginia have made it law that we will not recognize another state's marriage licenses for two perverts. If you don't like it, don't move here.
First of all, it's clear you hate homosexuals, and that makes you a big jerk. They're people just like the rest of us. I take offense to you saying my gay friends are effed up, or sexually retarded. You don't know them, so **** off with that shit.

Second, let's see if you can understand this example:

If you cut too many leaves off a female plant, you can cause a hormone imbalance, which will lead to a gender change. This is a plant. Does it make sense to you that a hormone imbalance could cause homosexual behavior in humans? Could a hormone imbalance appear after birth? Maybe as a result of our heavily processed diet or poor air quality or some other unknown agent? Think about it.
Just a question. Do you think its just a coincidence that homosexuals have 5 times the chance of contracting an STD than a heterosexual? Or do you think that its just a coincidence that the life expectancy of a homosexual individual is almost 20 years SHORTER than that of a heterosexual person? How about, it must be a coincidence that homosexuals have 4 times the chance of being medically diagnosed with a mental disorder than heterosexuals? It must all be Rush Limbaughs fault, right? We conservatives just put too much pressure and spew too much hate for the homosexual to take, right?

I dont know about you, but with those statistics, homosexuality is definitely not a lifestyle that the stats say would enable you to live a long and healthy life, and its not one that I would choose for the ones I love, like my children. And I definitely wouldn't want the government condoning such a self destructive lifestyle like homosexuality by okaying it in the court systems because gays like to twist around our constitution to say it protects them, but in the same breath, say that government should have no say on what constitutes a marriage. I also find it interesting that the suicide rate among homosexuals is staggering when compared to the suicide rate of heterosexuals. Again, its all Fox News' fault, right? Not a lifestyle I would want for anyone............
Well, you don't get to choose the lifestyle for everyone else. That kind of attitude disgusts me.
I think we all just want to shape the world in which we live to some extent. Some of us have feelings/beliefs that compel us to say this or that should not be allowed, others extol an "anything but violence goes" philosophy. It's pretty clearly a prejudice, which I'm using in the sense of "a preconceived judgment or opinion," to say that homosexuality is wrong. That said, all prejudices aren't necessarily incorrect or built upon ignorance. I believe people hold this prejudice because our society has largely taught since it's inception that these alternative lifestyles are wrong. That view point has helped shape our culture to this point in time. Revoking that view likewise changes the culture of our society going forward and not in a way in which the current majority seems to desire. I don't think it's as simple as "what two people do in their bedroom is their business" because there are collateral effects which impede on the wishes of most Americans, i.e. the inclusion of homosexuality in elementary education.

I think the crux of the debate is does a society have a right to establish social guidelines and thus enforce said guidelines on a dissenting minority? That's a hell of a hard argument to make from a logical standpoint, much easier from an emotional one. In the end, the point is moot, people can object all they want but evidence shows this fight is just about over...

I'm not necessarily a fan of court rulings influencing society, but I believe you are right. I can only wonder what the majority of Americans would have said about Brown vs Board of Education. Seems like that could be an example of the courts exerting good social influence, regardless of popular opinion. I didn't live in the 50's so maybe I'm wrong and everyone was on-board, but I doubt it.

The other issue is when subjects are taught in public school, obviously the sex ed for 5 yr. olds is ridiculous, same as HS juniors/seniors not being made aware of contraception.

Having a 17 yr. old and being involved in coaching from 6yrs old. into HS, I can tell you one thing is for sure. Normal, rational folks from all walks of life can quickly go completely bat-shit crazy over something to do with their kids.

That sounds good to me. I agree with them then. People and their communities should have the right to decide what is right and wrong within their own community. That's been a point I've been trying to make. Matty, you've tried to make many arguements for the acceptance of homosexuality. You have to realize people like me will tolerate them but not accept them. To us, what they do is immoral and self-destructive to a community. We don't need that around us. Nor do I appreciate homosexuals eye-balling me. I used to live in the East Bay. Straight men do not appreciate the advances of homosexuals.

Many of the arguments that have been made are new ones. My cousin Ron is a homo baby bomber and to them it was just about sex. He doesn't agree with homosexual marriage because it will cause resentment. It has! Marriage to that generation was the last thing they wanted. The newer ones don't understand that we will never accept them or at least that aspect of their lifestyle.

I don't understand why people don't understand that everyone has their own preferences and I'm allowed to have mine as well. I like some people more than others and I try my best to tolerate everyone. If I had to choose between a room full of homos and a room full of Philly fans, I'd choose the homos. I don't really care for either but Philly fans, now they're just scum.

Re: Steve Young's family up against Mormon church on Prop. 8

I think I got hit on by a gay guy 2 days ago. I was getting gas when a guy kept staring at me and my car. Then he walked by while staring until I looked and he said what kind of honada is that. He kept asking questions about my car and stuff and noted he liked my year’s body style more than the newer ones. I drive a Honda Accord and I recently traded (pretty redneck right?) a jeep for a sweet el camino (even more redneck right?). Now I would expect attention from random dudes at gas stations and stuff if I was driving around in my sweet el camino but I was in my accord.

Anyway I know 2 gay guys, neither of which I would consider friends, but they are nice guys. My problem with gay people is when they make out or even basic things like holding hands in public. Im not too keen when a straight couple is making out in front of me on a sidewalk either, but its different. Any type of PDA from gay people in public grosses me out and gives me the hebegebes. That said I see absolutely no reason why they shouldn’t be allowed to get married. It’s a civil liberties issue for me more than anything and I see it as bad as not allowing 2 people from different races wed. On a personal level it makes me upset as well because our society is forcing a set of beliefs on a group of people.

Here u are.

It takes approximately $300,000 to take care of each AIDS victim, so thanks to the promiscuous lifestyle of homosexuals, medical insurance rates have been skyrocketing for all of us(10).

Close-up of one of the New York "Gay Parades"

Homosexuals were responsible for spreading AIDS in the United States, and then raised up violent groups like Act Up and Ground Zero to complain about it. Even today, homosexuals account for well over 50% of the AIDS cases in the United States, which is quite a large number considering that they account for only 1-2% of the population.
Homosexuals account for a disproportionate number of hepatitis cases: 70-80% in San Francisco, 29% in Denver, 66% in New York City, 56% in Toronto, 42% in Montreal, and 26% in Melbourne (8).
---------------------------
37% of homosexuals engage in sadomasochism, which accounts for many accidental deaths. In San Francisco, classes were held to teach homosexuals how to not kill their partners during sadomasochism (8).
41% of homosexuals say they have had sex with strangers in public restrooms, 60% say they have had sex with strangers in bathhouses, and 64% of these encounters have involved the use of illegal drugs (8).
---------------------------
The median age of death of homosexuals is 42 (only 9% live past age 65). This drops to 39 if the cause of death is AIDS. The median age of death of a married heterosexual man is 75 (8).
The median age of death of lesbians is 45 (only 24% live past age 65). The median age of death of a married heterosexual woman is 79 (8).
Homosexuals are 100 times more likely to be murdered (usually by another homosexual) than the average person, 25 times more likely to commit suicide, and 19 times more likely to die in a traffic accident (8).
----------------------------
There is a notable homosexual group, consisting of thousands of members, known as the North American Man and Boy Love Association ( NAMBLA). This is a child molesting homosexual group whose cry is "SEX BEFORE 8 BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE." This group can be seen marching in most major homosexual parades across the United States.
Homosexuals commit more than 33% of all reported child molestations in the United States, which, assuming homosexuals make up 2% of the population, means that 1 in 20 homosexuals is a child molestor, while 1 in 490 heterosexuals is a child molestor (19).
-----------------------------
Of homosexuals questioned in one study reports that 43% admit to 500 or more partners in a lifetime, 28% admit to 1000 or more in a lifetime, and of these people, 79% say that half of those partners are total strangers, and 70% of those sexual contacts are one night stands (or, as one homosexual admits in the film "The Castro", one minute stands) (3). Also, it is a favorite past-time of many homosexuals to go to "cruisy areas" and have anonymous sex.
78% of homosexuals are affected by STDs (20).

Oh, and yeah, lets let all of these people with communicable diseases into the Army, where I as a medic am going to be at a RIDICULOUSLY increased risk of contracting HIV/AIDS/HERPES/HEPSATITIS/all other STD's when dealing with these gays on the battlefield where open blood is commonplace.

Sorry, stay at home and go to your parades. Id rather die from the enemy than die from some gay ally who gave me aids while I was bandaging him up. Just the risk from exposure should ban them from military service. And knowing their sexuality increases the likeliehood of them contracting an STD and passing along the military ranks, come on, gimme a break.

Re: Steve Young's family up against Mormon church on Prop. 8

And a couple more..........
To date, the Bagley & Tremblay (1997) study remains as the only study to have used a household-based random sampling technique - stratified random sampling - producing both a sample of homosexually oriented males and of their heterosexual counterparts for comparison purposes. This study replicated the Bell & Weinberg (1978) results and is also the best and most recent indicator available of the "self-harm" at risk status of homosexually oriented males. Compared to heterosexual males, homosexually oriented males (12.7% of sample) accounted for 26% of males in the "self-harm" category (including suicide attempts) and 62.5% of suicide attempters. They were 3-times more at risk for reporting "self-harm" and almost 14-times more at risk for reporting having attempted suicide.
---------------------
In 2008, CDC estimated that approximately 56,300 people were newly infected with HIV in 20061 (the most recent year that data are available). Over half (53%) of these new infections occurred in gay and bisexual men. Black/African American men and women were also strongly affected and were estimated to have an incidence rate than was 7 times as high as the incidence rate among whites.

Just a coincidence though, right?

Wait, probably some problem with my sources. I am sure that the United States CDC is conservatively biased. You know what, thats true, its prolly just a bunch of hogwash. I think we should all embrace homosexuality, and all of the drugs, diseases, suicide and legal constipation it brings...............lol

Aren't these numbers a bit skewed by the fact that homesexuals, as you say, make up about 2% of the population?

I can't understand why they would feel suicidal. I mean they're so easily accepted in society. It just makes no sense.

And I never got this fear people have that if a guy is gay they must be checking you out. I don't assume every heterosexual girl is checking me out (even though they probably are :) ), so why should I assume every gay guy is ogling me. That makes no sense to me

Yeah no stress, it's easy to see why some people make that lifestyle choice.

what a ridiculous argument. it basically boils down to what you believe. are you born that way, or is it your choice?
