Re: Any New Music Selections?
El Camino is near the top of my list for '11. I've been listening to it pretty much non-stop since it came out.
Radiohead, Foo Fighters, My Morning Jacket, Beastie Boys, and Wilco all put out quality releases this year. |

I cant scream it any louder, if you like loud rock n roll with a southern touch or a loud live show, get into this band. Wilco was better album than their recent. Hot Sauce pt 2, Beasties they cant do any wrong in my eyes. Then your best you didnt review, PJ Harvey is genius, that album is great, makes me feel uncomfortable when i listen to it, so it must be good. Kurt Vile...dunno why people into him, kinda a bore. Fleet Foxes 2nd album was hugely disappointing, their debut maybe the best album in the last 10 years. Ive been done with Radiohead since they stop making rock album, but id still see them live if given the chance. The Antlers suck. I need to hear the Dawes album, heard great things and havent heard the new Black Keys yet, but will very soon. My top 3: 1. The Black Lips - Arabia Mountain 2. Battles - Gloss Drop 3. Ghostface - Apollo Kids |
Re: Any New Music Selections?
thanks, solid feedback even if we disagree on some stuff. first few times i tried that Kurt Vile record (since everyone was raving about it) i was like "eh... kinda boring...." and then one day it hit me. same with The Antlers. weird.
DBT's, i still think Decoration Day and Dirty South are probably their "best" but i do like Creations Dark (tho kinda long) and that newest one. |

Re: Any New Music Selections?
This is not usually my bread and butter music, but I've been listening to Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty for the last few hours because I like that sax solo.

Their new single is awful.
I know there are some serious VH fans out there, but they just seem like a circus to me now. Hard to take them serious anymore. |
I saw a really good band last weekend in Florida called The Kevin Maines Band and bought their album on iTunes. Really good Bluesy Rock stuff. Kind of like the Black Keys meets the Black Crowes. Great musicians live. Give it a listen.

Outside there first album, nothing really there. The 2 brothers always just seemed like major assholes and Roth just seemed like a dumbass. |

I was in the audience at the #1 rated on the list and remember it distinctly. Jack just announced his solo album to be release in April, hope he tours nearby. Really amazing guitar player, seen him play with the Stripes in 2005 and with the Raconteurs in this clip. Very original with the slide. |

Axl is just so weak. G N R along with Metallica is the reason I got into music in the 4th, 5th grade in elementary school. Even though I havent really listened to GNR in like 20 years, but I would tune in to watch these guys get together again. GNR's band today is not even close to the original line up. Its just so lame when bands cant put aside bullshit and get back together and play (talking heads, Zeppelin, the Smiths). I was waiting for Pink Floyd to get back and tour after they played that festival like 6 years ago, and now Richard Wright has past (eff you Roger Waters for that). If Axl and the rest of the original band could have kept it together, they would probably be the biggest rock band of all time. |

Appetite still kicks ass all these years later. Totally agree how lame it is when bands can't put aside petty BS. I'd pay good money to see the original lineup again. I saw them on the Use Your Illusion Tour in '91, it was a sick show. |

Ween is breaking up. Dont know if anybody listened to them, but Ive been listening since 1993 and they are probably one of the most underrated bands of all time. Immensely creative duo, genre blending (back when it wasnt "hip") and fun live. Go back and take a listen to these classic albums: "Pure Guava" and "Quebec"...their best, 5star albums : "Chocolate and Cheese" and "White Pepper" are hands down brillant. |

Nobody talking about Snoop Lion yet? I'll admit my expectations are low, but we'll see. Good for him for bucking the popular trend, he does deserve props for breaking away from the cash cow that is mainstream rap today.

I heard the single. It was horrible. Fake Jamaican accent, horrible lyrics. Had to listen to an hour of Marley to cleanse my mind. |
