Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Wow, Cleveland's looking pretty damn smart so far. haven't said that in a while.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I feel bad for Oher. I hoped he would go sooner (to us particularly)
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
If they wanted Mack, I'm surprised they didn't trade back again!
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I don't know what it would cost to trade up, and I know we have nothing this year to really trade.... but I wouldn't mind trying to see what it would take to trade up and get Oher....
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
That could be a heck of a combo with AP.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Cerrato, if he can be believed, said they called every team ahead us to get orakpo.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I don't think we have the fuel to move back into the 1st without paying too high of a price.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Boomer is ****ing annoying me. Time to switch to NFLN.

I hope he stays healthy and Blache finds a way to fit him into our system well. It's unclear to me where they will put him. Long term i think Orakpo's best chance of making an impact is RDE...but I highly doubt we sit Carter immediately. I can't see the guy playing OLB in our system unless we're going to teach him to cover and make plays in space. And finally i don't see him as a a run-blocking monster at LDE...so again not sure where Orakpo fits but i guess we can say the Skins took the BPA at 13...that's nice. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Lets trade up and select Oher.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
We just might be Dominant on Defense ,,,, we should get some turnovers and score some more points . Now if we can luck out in the 3rd rd and hit a find on day two , we could see some Redskins football . I just wish we opened at home vs the cowturds.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Well so much for going back in for Oher.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Mangini saw how much Mangold helped the o-line in New York and took Mack. Smart move. I think Orakpo may play SAM on first and second and DE on third down. Similar to what they had in mind for JT. Ravens get Oher.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Oher goes to Baltimore, now if they get rid of Lewis, I might be able to stomach them.

I've been thinking about it (and I haven't seen the presser with Vinny if he said anything) but I actually don't see a reason why Orakpo can't play the LDE position. He is 266, he is strong as hell ... what I am saying is that he is not a 235 lbs. Jason Taylor. In fact, if you read the profile of him on NFL.com it says he might be better suited to the strong side because "he lacks great explosion and pass rush off the edge." I haven't watched full game tapes of the guy, obviously, but it seems to me he can set the edge and offer some pressure from the strong side. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
when asked VC said the question would have to be answered by Greg, he(VC) just acquires the players.

Be the best case scenario if it worked there...I hope his body can take the pounding at LDE. ...was very surprised to hear Ayers is expected to put on another 15 or 20 lbs in the NFL, putting him close to 290lbs. Anybody here that before today? |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Ok i gotta say it...whoever takes Rey from this point probably gets the best value in the draft. Wells could be that guy too but the injury history isn't comforting.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
anybody else surprised by Philly picking another WR in the mold of DeSean Jackson?
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
If the Patriots end up with Rey that's going to be ridiculous. Talk about going from one of the oldest LB corps to one of the youngest (and best).
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
Effing Pats...those a-holes know how to work the draft.

Yes. They should have taken Pettigrew. |

Can you imagine the 2 TE sets Philly would have run? Scary man, just scary. I think they should have taken Pettigrew as well or Wells cuz after the oft injured Westbrook who's gonna carry that pigskin? |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
DAMN!! The Pack just built a defense.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
So Rey will be the last USC 'backer off the board.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
If Rey falls to round 2, I might see us going to get him.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
So Rey will be the last USC 'backer off the board.
Yep. I'm shocked at that and the fact he dropped so far. I mean at this point I have to ask what might have been for us in a trade down scenario to get him and another pick. Oh well...not gonna complain about Orakpo but honestly i don't expect him to be the impact player in our system most are expecting. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I see us using Orakpo as a 2-down SLB and then moving him up to DE on 3rd downs to rush the passer.
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
So Rey will be the last USC 'backer off the board.
There was a reason why I was against drafting Rey-Rey at 13... looks like some other teams thought so too. Orakpo is the best case scenario for the Skins. I can't believe he dropped to us. I remember watching UT games earlier last season and thinking this guy had to go top 3. The dude is a beast upfield. |

Nah, Kaluka Maiava will be the last USC Linebacker off the board. |

Im surprised the Colts passed on Ziiggy Hood.
I see us using Orakpo as a 2-down SLB and then moving him up to DE on 3rd downs to rush the passer.
Yeah that seems to be the conventional wisdom. Two points. Teams still pass on 1st and 2nd down so we're gonna have to teach the kid to cover (probably from scratch) and then he's got to make plays in space. I don't know. ...btw anybody else surprised that after the big 4 no OTs have gone. I thought we'd see at least 7 OL go in the 1st round but w/ Britton, Meredith in there. |
He's overrated.
Gentleman's bet Rey has as good a career as any defensive player taken in this draft...you just don't find many badass inside LBs out there. |
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
The Giants helped themselves I think
|
Re: 2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion
I like the Hakeem Nicks pick by the Giants. I really liked him at NC.

Why do you like that pick....he's going to our arch-rival |

I think Rey is going to the Cards

lol, i mean if I were a giants fan, i'd be ecstatic. I'm not a huge college football fan, but I caught a couple of NC games last year and he just stuck out every time. I'll put my skins hat back on now and say "Giants suck!" |
