Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!

Okay, I'm about to blow the lid off this theory I have. I submit that CantonLegend is Clinton Portis! I'm calling it right now, right here.

I got to thinking, Clinton Portis was born in Mississippi. So I'm sure most folks from that region probably grew up as Saints fans. So I Googled anything about Portis from the past to see if he liked the Saints growing up. I found an interview from 2004 saying just that.

Check this out near the bottom.

CP, I want tickets!! LOL Hey, man I didn't mean any of that shit I said earlier! I think you're the best dude!! LOL
The only time Betts had a legit opportunity to be the feature back he ripped off 5 straight 100 yard games.

But this thread isn't about Betts, its about Portis...

I just don't see how you are drawing the conclusion that Portis can "carry the team" what has he shown this year to prove that? On the best run of his career he couldn't even score with one man to beat and a blocker in front. Name on other top 5 back that does that?
AP this pass week got the ball knocked out his hands from behind. Remember that Sports Center highlight? That 70 plus yard run proves he is still valid. The argumant against Betts has always been he hits the hole hard and runs straight forward, often getting the balls knocked out his hands and running over his blockers. The last two weeks we haven't saw the real Betts. I think Rock should be in front of Betts. Nowadays, everybody wants to be an insurgent and over throw something. Man, chill! Redskin revolt. Man this team is about to go on a run.

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
I think all the guys on offense earned their jobs, but one thing i feel from this team, is that once somebody gets a spot, it is theres for the duration. For example, Campbell has always been the unchallenged QB, no matter what. No matter how bad he plays. Even Joe Gibbs knew to stick with Collins because he was the hot hand, even though Campbell had recovered from his injury for the playoffs.

Now Portis won't lose his job to injury, but really, Betts has outplayed him at this point. He deserves to finish the year. A 3-6 team that is going nowhere should at least get to play everyone so that they can see what they have roster wise.

We won't do that. It really is a sad state when injuries are the only way you get to see depth at a position. For Example; Campbell would have cost us the season in 2007 had it not be for his injury and then Todd Collins coming in.

in 2006 Portis got injured and Betts rattled off five 100+ yard games. This year is the same way.

I just hope after this year that everyone has to battle for a job...not just become an anointed starter.
totally agree again..100% Doc Walker said it at the beginning of the year....

Why should anyone on team the finishes last in the division be guaranteed anything?

I'm telling you it's no coincidence, Portis grew up a Saints fan, and this guy comes to a Portis thread defending him with a Saints logo. CantonLegend to boot.

That would mean that Clinton Portis is a racist, given his arguments.

No, I understood that. If it's really Clinton Portis, which I'm starting to believe it is, who knows why he would say something like that. Maybe he can answer for it after he reveals his identity.

A couple years ago when he got into it with Bmitch on the radio he said something like "Im not worried, my pockets are straight" basically saying he did care about Bmitch's critism because he was getting paid.

Thats the cliff notes.

Too much is lining up; the Saints avatar, CantonLegend also strikes me as an odd name, Portis defending Portis makes perfect sense, Portis grew up liking the Saints and the old legends down there. And this guy's off to work in the middle of the day.

Next, in his about me section, there is a link to the N.O. Saints Message board and Team Shop....very strange.

Lastly, almost all of the threads he's posted in has him making a statement about how blacks are surperior athletes and generally better...also white people are "just slower".

Humorously he was arguing with another poster early in the year about whether to start himself (Portis) in his fantasy league...and also that he needed "insider" information about Portis' injury status lol
Are you saying Portis doesn't get preferential treatment? What other player on the team could never practice and still start every game he is healthy? What other player could refuse to play in the preseason and still start? Marko Mitchell couldnt, Marcus Mason couldnt... He has a huge contract so of course he gets preferential treatment...most stars (or alleged stars) do to some extent.

Earned his starting position? I would argue the exact opposite. Betts has earned the starting position by being there week in week out practicing with the starting unit. A couple of redskin coaches seem to agree as well.
Betts has had two good games. Come on, I mean really. Betts fumbles too much. I don't forget stuff like that. Portis is clearly better than Betts, it's not hard to see. You want to punish Portis and reward Betts for practice, then when he fumbles the damn game away again then what? When he can't make one measely yard at the goal line. How many of yall remember that from last year? (against the Giants to win the game). Everyone criticized that move wondering why Portis was on the bench? You act like they been hiding Betts on the bench. Portis has not been explosive in the 8 games he has appeared in this year, but still had a 78 yrard run. If Betts received that hand off it would have been a good 10 to 15 yards. He would have run Sellers over and might have fumbled. I know how Betts runs.

He has earned his starting position. You not making sense. You seem to think Betts has not been the starter because of preferential treatment for Portis? Portis is big fantasy football guy too. If you read that interview from '04, he was into video games at the time and always boasted about how good he was in the game and how he was the only person he could stop Clinton Portis.

But the kicker was when he said, "gotta love those Saints".

lol ok so we've come to a few conclusions

1) Portis secretly wishes he played for the Saints

2) He's racist. (Or at least a closeted racist)

3) He is his own biggest fan.

4) He thinks he's one of the top 5 RBs in the league currently

5) His poor running is due to the O-Line and Sellers.

I'm sold!! :smashfrea
