Not very good IMO. Gaines Adams turned out to be pure bust as did Michael Clayton. Williams is a stud but he just can't stay healthy. Josh Johnson is simply awful. Talib has serious character issues.
I think alot has to do with the scouting involved. I don't know how the TB organization was set up, but I have always thought our scouts were top notch.

Time will tell.

Here we go. So let's parse through every single player drafted under Allen and come to conclusions about his qualifications.

Is this the same Talib that picked off Jason Campbell 3 times?

I don't expect everyone to agree with Allen's hiring. But come on, Vinny was terrible in certain aspects and Allen has had success as a general manager. At least let the guy come in and start working before you start pissing all over him.

I'm not pissing on him. I think Snyder did the right thing and this is a good move. But I'm just going to take a wait and see attitude.

Yeah, let us go ahead and give this guy a chance and not assume draft fail right off the bat. As long as he can Danny Boy from playing fantasy football we should be good. I actually expect with this hiring that the head coach will have more to do with guys we bring in. Lets give him a chance.

The new head coach will have his say in personnel as well, so Allen is just one piece of the puzzle. (I stole that from SS, I think)

At least now we might be able to get back to the tracks (since we have been so far off of it for a long time). Great move skins! On board 110%!

Dan Patrick said that the Rooney Rule applies to front office/executive positions just as it does to head coaching positions.

Any truth to this? Were there any other interviews that have been made known?

Offensive linemen in every draft. I'll take it.

Also, take note HOW MANY picks they had. Completely opposite as our usual 5 total picks with Vinny.

Next thing you know, we'll be flagged for not interviewing a black, Native American or Hispanic candidate and accused of tampering again.

Good point. SS said he was more involved with the business end. Maybe he listens to the scouting department and coaches come draft time.

Snyder reportedly interviewed two minority candidates for the position.

I hate the Rooney rule. I'm not racist at all but i believe a team should have the right to interview and hire whoever they want.

How do you think those african american candidates feel? knowing that they are getting their interview just so a team can get around the rule....they dont think about that...

I think the purpose was to get those candidates some exposure and not necessarily hire them. But please let us not turn this thread into a Rooney rule thread.

well, hopefully we'll keep hold of scott campbell and morocco brown. one thing you have to give allen's bucs - they never ignored the o-line. and the one they have now is young and talented thanks to him. i'm sure we all wish we could say that about ours.

Yeah it's sad that we have to have things like the Rooney rule. However, prior to that rule almost no minority coaches were being interviewed.

Anyone who is not optimistic about anyone else being an upgrade over Vinny is insane. Allen has taken two struggling franchises to Super Bowls. Vinny has taken a proud, winning team into the dumpster.

I agree...let him do his thing and repair this team too. I bet his draft will focus on the offensive line, something that Vinny failed to do year after year. If Vinny stayed, we'd probably be downgrading QB by drafting one and loading the roster up with 8 RBs while ignoring the line again in the upcoming draft.

Why would you assume that? Gruden praised Campbell for a lot when doing the commentary for our game. He pointed out a few things he could suggest to Campbell for improvement while saying basically "I could take this guy to the next level, he has the talent". This of course, was BEFORE Jason's game took off in the last 6 weeks. JC earned his future with the team I think.
When you say "oversees the draft process" what exactly does that mean. He wouldnt have any hand in trading the picks away that we do, or deciding who we take in the draft?

I mean I think in terms of the players that we actually take, we take pretty good players with the picks we have, we just at times dont focus on the right positions. Would he have had alot of input in what positions we have gone over the last few years?
Think of Campbell as sort of an offensive coordinator during the week. During the off-season, Campbell leads all the scouting efforts of college players, decides who will be interviewed at the combine (I think each team is limited to 50 players), what pro days to attend, ranking the different players under each position. Then on game day Cerrato, Zorn, and Snyder take over based largely on that info that Campbell leads the preparation of...now it's Allen instead of Cerrato of course.

I don't think anyone is pissing on him. There is nothing wrong with looking at his past record so we know what we are getting. Some of us know very little about the guy, so looking at his past is the first step in learning about him. If some are making opinions about Allen's past or voicing their own opinions about his being hired here, that is not a bad thing.

Tony Dungy wouldn't interview unless he knew he was guaranteed the job. I don't think he wants to coach again. Why would any coach leave Peyton Manning unless they were really fed up with coaching?

Snyder made the right business move. Whether it will translate in more wins for the Skins--time will tell. But by forcing Cerrato's exit--which is what this midseason "resignation" is--he has already got a PR win and can shift the pressure and responsibility to Allen (starting with whether to retain Zorn).

Apparently for GM you can get around the Rooney Rule, if you name your GM VP of Football Ops. I think that position does not need the Rooney Rule, but GM does.
