Re: Let It Snow
Looks like in DC and directly around it are looking at about a foot for sure, with winds tomorrow gusting up to 40mph. Awesome. FML

Re: Let It Snow
Just looking at a radar map. Not sure, but it looks like Wash. - Bmore region may luck and fall into one fo the gaps in the front.

I just ran out and bought Bioshock 2, so I'm pretty much ready for the snow.

NWS - National Mosaic Enhanced Radar Image: Full Resolution Loop
Sadly, I think there is a high pressure that will push the bigger body over us, and then a secondary low which is supposed to form over the atlantic which will fill in any gap that might hit us That's a lot of lows headed our way :-( |
Re: Let It Snow
From the Wash. Post Capital Weather gang:
We're not looking for a mix with freezing rain, so if you're worried about that, don't be. And yes, the other forecast outlets seem to be backpeddling on their accumulation forecasts, largely because they went 'all in' last night. You'll remember that we resisted that move yesterday, because we weren't confident enough that the high totals would verify. Either that or we're stubborn, but in a good way ;) There is still considerable uncertainty with this event, and it will be interesting to see how close to DC the higher end totals wind up. A lot will depend on exactly where the coastal low intensifies. Stay tuned... Posted by: Andrew-CapitalWeatherGang | February 9, 2010 1:03 PM |

FD - no, that is essentially the same shot taken at 2 different times. You can barely make out our Mountaineer in the 2nd picture, and it hadn't moved from the night before. As far as whatever snow we get today and tomorrow, not much we can do but hanker down and hope the power doesn't go out. |

(By the way, can you come over and help shovel?)
Dad always said don't trust the weathermen, show me the map! of course he said yesterday that this will be a bust so what do I know. I think the rule of thumb on shoveling is every day in Phoenix = 2 extra days of shoveling here, so it's all yours bro! edit: man I missed the perfect response - I'm not a weatherman, but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night. drats |

Re: Let It Snow
Started sticking less than an hour ago, and we have a good half inch already. Have seen several plows go by, so we'll see how well they keep up with it.
|
Re: Let It Snow
I'm on the DC-MD line, and it's coming down here now as well. Has been for about an hour.
Here we go again. |
Re: Let It Snow
F.... EL NINO!
Man, I'm going to New Orleans to get away from this crap. Give me a call when spring hits. |
Re: Let It Snow
Well i just shoveled 3" deep at 930. Meanwhile Mother Nature laughed in my face while covering over where I just shoveled, I would say about 1" fell back over that. f... shoveling

And this is just the initial low. There's another low coming in from off the coast tomorrow, coupled with gusts over 50mph. Nuts I tell ya. Yet another classic nor'easter. |

same here in nova, and they said we would only have a half inch by 9. mother nature is being really (earmuffs) cuntish right now |

Re: Let It Snow
not much happening here at the "beach" .. we've gotten a bit of ice and a very light dusting of snow
|
Re: Let It Snow
I'm in NE DC, and I just looked out my front door... Maybe 3 inches out there right now? no more than 4 or 5 at most.. The street in front of my house is clear of snow, except the big banks on the sides where plows pushed all the snow.. the street looks like its already been plowed or else they pre-treated the hell out of my street.
|
Re: Let It Snow
I think most of the big snow is yet to hit today....there is about 6 on my back porch, and it's calling for 4 to 6 more....winds of 50MPH

Re: Let It Snow
can we get a vote to change the title of this thread to stop the snow. I guess no one realized the power of the Warpath, and when this thread said Let it snow, by all that is right, the weather gods listened!

Re: Let It Snow
Well get ready boys and girls because next monday or tuesday, that storm from california will be here causing snow.....saw it on TWC this morning and my jaw about dropped.
Look guys...we've went far too long around here with too mild winters...it was only a matter of time. Just got the email my work is closing down at 11AM, so this will be my last post for today....We have a blizzard warning until 7PM..... |
Re: Let It Snow
Well I'm finally getting a taste of snow, but the bulk of the storm is still too far south. We might get 3-6 inches by tomorrow.
|
Re: Let It Snow
A blizzard warning now. Yeah!!
|
Re: Let It Snow
It's BAD out there. Montgomery County and DC have pulled the plows off the roads now for the safety of the drivers. Looking out across my balcony (I'm on the 11th floor) towards downtown DC, I would say visibility is probably about 1/10 of a mile, maybe less. You couldn't pay me to get behind the wheel of a car.
|
Re: Let It Snow
I'm in PG county and it's dangerous out here as well. The winds are scary. I'm thanking my lucky stars that I still have power, but I don't anticipate keeping it.
|
Re: Let It Snow
I'm so tired of this fucking snow. It wouldn't be bad today if the rain we had last night hadn't frozen. We just has a little but under than . . . . Slip, slip and slide. There were over three hundred wrecks in Richmond alone this morning.
|
Re: Let It Snow
My neighbor is walking from our neighborhood to Canton in downtown Baltimore - about a 4-5 mile walk - to check on his father's bar. Personally, I think he is insane. It's an hour walk in good weather.
|
Re: Let It Snow
I'm west of DC, and we got barely any snow out of this last storm. Maybe 2". The wind is killer, though. It's filling back in where I plowed.
|
Re: Let It Snow
We've got a good 18 inch drift on our front stoop, wind is blowing the snow on the ground and the snow coming down all over the place. Gonna be one helluva mess to clean up when all is said and done...the massive icicles hanging off the houses are impressive though.

Re: Let It Snow
There was a 50 car pileup on 64 this morning around Williamburg. They did not call for any real snow for this area but we did get some heavy snow around 10:30 for about 1 1/2 hours.

I'm scheduled to work Monday (this past Mon) Wednesday (today) and Friday... I'm trying to call work to tell them I won't be in and there's nobody answering the phone. I guess the managers decided to not show up either. WTF. My street hasn't even been plowed yet. Looks like that pre-treated street from last night is long gone. I heard we are supposed to get more snow on Monday.. Tell me that isn't supposed to have significant accumulation with it as well. Please... |

Re: Let It Snow
I just drove into work because all of my guys called out and I had to relieve the guy that was here. The main roads are not that bad if you have 4 wheel drive. Getting to the main roads and snow routes is the tough part.
Having a slumber party at work...priceless! |
