re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
Maybe...Maybe not.....?
Peppers-to-Redskins rumors go to full boil Posted by Mike Florio on March 4, 2010 10:22 PM ET Less than two hours until the start of free agency, rumors are flying that the Washington Redskins will soon be signing defensive end Julius Peppers. The thinking had been that, if the Redskins decide they want Peppers, they'll get Peppers. It just wasn't clear whether the Redskins want Peppers. Our pal Lance Zierlein of KGOW in Houston has reported, via Twitter, that the Redskins will come "charging hard" after Peppers and that he expects a deal to be done by tomorrow. Last year, Zierlein reported that the Redskins would land defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth days before it happened. And we're hearing that the situation has progressed well beyond the Redskins "charging hard." We're hearing it's essentially done -- and that barring an unexpected development the only question is whether the deal will be announced before or after the sun rises in D.C. That's bad news for the Bears, who had planned to make a strong push for Peppers. |

Florio is going to jeez his pants if this happens. |
re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
I just don't get the Peppers move. Not one bit. Dansby made some sense and especially if Rocky is shipped out. Peppers starts at what position exactly? Putting him on the right side as an edge rusher simply moves a better player IMO (Orakpo) elsewhere. Putting Peppers on the left side means he learns a brand new position.
...I think this would be the first hugely questionable FO move under the new regime. Where is SS on this rumor? |

Dansby is listed as an ILB I remember seeing Peppers lined up as LDE against us last year. There are reasons to be wary of Peppers. Taking away Rak's playing time isn't one of them. |

But Peppers has played off the left side considerably in his career, and Orakpo played on the right side in college, and in third down situations last year, so they could really go either way there. |

It is 3rd and 9. Orakpo is on one side, Hayneworth is in the middle and Peppers is on the other side. That can't be a comfortable feeling.... |
re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
Updated front seven (old school Dan Snyder edition)
Peppers OLB, Dansby ILB, Fletch ILB, Orakpo OLB Haynesworth DE, Jamal Williams NT, Daniels DE |

re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
Yeah it can't^^ but at the same time looking at punting to an inept offense won't be that scary to said team.
Nor throwing to the shady pass defense we have seen over the past couple of years. Alot of.. getting burnt deep at times. |

re: Peppers signs with the Bears (updated - again)
Not sure what's the deal with Peppers right now. I know he's not the first choice of the Skins and they're not the first choice of him. But sometimes that doesn't work out that way.
It's not that they wouldn't be happy with each other though. As for where he'd play, my guess is that it's a case of "money is no object so let's sign him and we'll figure out where to play him" And I don't necessarily mean to say that negatively. |

houston Chronicle is reporting that Peppers is a lock in DC

Do they have an inside source? Kinda weird source, unless Kyle is telling them something. |

By the way, in case you're wondering Haslett is the one reportedly pushing for Peppers.

My thinking was Orakpo was best rushing from the right side, and if Peppers came in expecting to play that position we don't get the most we could from Rak. ...personally I believe Brian is better overall. His motor doesn't quit and he's very passionate. Peppers is an enormous talent but passionate is not an apt descriptive...and who knows what his mentality will be after the enormous payday. I don't like it :( |

See, like I said. Even the best sources can be wrong sometimes :) Brown was a 99.99999% lock to be here. Every reliable source said no question he will be a Redskin. It was all but signed, sealed, and delivered. And then suddenly he wasn't. So let that be a lesson |
