Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Last time I checked you can't trade UFA's...the very point I tried to make. Next sentence...We traded Champ Bailey and.......I'm out.
The point was that Champ Bailey was not a UFA at the time of the trade. Bailey wanted out of DC, and we would not have kept him after he eventually hit the UFA market. So we did the deal. |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
I'm just hoping the Eagles somehow end up shipping McNabb to Minnesota. Then they would either cut Sage or trade him to us on the cheap.

I'm not sure that I understand the Sage Rosenfels love. He seems to me like the definition of a journeyman backup.

Pretty much what he is. Decent backup, nothing to get too excited over. Sorta like Rexy, though Sage lacks the $exy factor. |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Anyone with the name "Sage" has no business being in the NFL.
That name scares nobody. Ditto for "Lilly", "Petunia" or "Lovie." *ends rant* |

because until we have our "very own" peyton or brees wrapped up for us. someone that is the undisputed qb king, we will always salivate over prospects proven or otherwise |

Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
i don't understand all the sage hate. he knows the system and has played very well in it. although i'm sure smoot would vehmently disagree - i think a low round draft pick would be better spent on him than someone like jevan snead.

Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
I'm somewhat bored so how about this - Would you approve of this hypothetical trade?
Redskins trade our 2nd round pick (37th overall) and a conditional 2011 pick to the Eagles for McNabb the 2011 conditional pick could escellate as high as a 2nd round pick if the Redskins beat the eagles twice, finish the season with a better record, or go further in the playoffs than the Eagles. If the Eagles season is better than ours, then the Eagles get nothing. Basically what this questions asks is this - do you feel a 2nd round pick would be better spent on McNabb or a rookie quarterback? (keep in mind, its very very rare for quarterbacks not taken in the 1st round to ever become starters) |

I'm saying my fanhood would take a sabbatical until that sad little experiment was over. |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Good. I hope they get rid of Mcnabb. I hate to admit it but my old lady is an Eagles fan and I am so tired of hearing eagles fans blow Mcnabb.

No hate for Sage it's just hard to get excited over a 32 year old journeyman backup

id rate him above the journeyman quarterback we have on the roster and the soon-to-be jounrneyman QB we're trying to get rid of. |

He is a stop gap...I prefer to build something long term. If I am tossing around draft picks I would rather give them to the Rams and get Bradford. |

we've got so many needs on our team a stop gap would do just fine for right now. that said, my preference would be to roll with the QBs we have and use our first and 2nd round picks to address our O-line. we still dont have potential starters at either tackle position. However, my personal opinion is that whoever drafts Bradford or Clausen will be pissing the pick away. i dont think there's a true franchise QB in the draft. |

Didn't get a chance to talk to him, work got in the way. Was just going to talk to him about the Redskins...and tell him I'm hoping we don't draft him :)

I want Shanny to groom a young QB and I don't want to waste any time getting started. The goal is to win the super bowl and we will never get close until we fix the QB problem. We had very good OT's for most of the last 10 years and didn't get anywhere with them becasue we never had a QB. However, I am not saying that i want to ignore the OL...i want to leave this draft with OL help and the long term answer at QB. |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
What if they end up with Favre and McNabb! That would be awesome.
I would like it if they signed Sage. He knows Kyle's offense and put up some decent games with the Texans. After we get Sage we just need to swing a deal for Andre Johnson....then lookout!!! |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Besides Childress being McNabbs first NFL QB's coach, Kevin Rogers the Viking's QB coach, was also his position coach at Syracuse. Supposedly when Childress went to visit Favre about playing next year, it was with McNabb in mind. Hmmm...

Report: JaMarcus Russell weighs 290 pounds
You might think this is business as usual. However whats surprising to me is that it was reported that people were going to be surprised at how much Russell had trimmed down. If he did then looks like he might have been the first 300+ pound QB since Jared Lorenzen.
JaMarcus Russell reportedly weighed in at 290 pounds when he reported for the Raiders' offseason program. So Oakland can scratch left tackle off its list of needs. Russell was initially reported to weigh 271, but many close to the situation immediately doubted that report. Russell, annually and incredibly overweight, isn't doing anything to shed his emerging label as the biggest bust in NFL history. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter
Anyway maybe McNabb could be headed to Alcatraz, er I mean Oakland, weather he wants to not. |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
So much for him showing up slim and trim, what's up with that?
If I'm the Raiders I would just cut him. It's obvious the guy just isn't going to pan out. He's a bum. |

I also heard Oakland is willing to give up Asomugha for him. |

Thats what I kind of already figured. Still it's a long ways away from the 265 he was at the combine. I also find it kind of ironic that he slimmed down to 256 for his pro day. Seems like when money's involved he's the cream of the crop. Russell wows scouts at LSU's pro day - USATODAY.com
Kiffin noticed how well Russell moved, too. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds, which surprised a lot of the NFL observers, as did his weight of 256. "He was 265 at the combine," Kiffin said. "Dropping nine pounds knowing this was a big day shows his commitment and shows that his mind's in the right place."
I would say to beware of productive pro days but I doubt Timmy will have the same problems if we draft him. |

Why would you want Sage? He might be better than Grossman, and I emphasize might, but he is not better than JC. I mean how good can he be, he was our 3rd string QB for most of his time here. |
