Re: Campbell A Raider
Yes, I agree those picks are hard to swallow for a player that didn't fit the system we were trying to run..
|
Re: Campbell A Raider
I think JC will do well and I wish him the best.
He will be in a smaller market on a team nobody expects much from. I think that will help him. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
And considering we're getting a 4th in 2012, net of 1 pick
I think the Skins were lucky to get anything for him so that 4th pick helps. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
So, are you arguing that if, for the sake of argument, we had picked JC at #25 without giving up extra picks, he would not be a bust?

Pretty much yes. I think I'd call him more of a big disappointment if he was drafted 25th. Its the loss of those picks thats the real kicker. JC ended up being a marginal QB (who might not even start in Oak) who the Skins end up thrwing away for a 4th round pick.
Then, logically, JC is not a bust to you. The trade up for him is what you are criticizing, not JC himself. |
Re: Campbell A Raider

Its the whole thing, the trade up, JC's play. Put that all together and the final result is bust. |

You are not being logical. You can't say "the whole thing" because whether JC busted his pick, or whether we should have traded up for him, are two separate issues, as your own posts have highlighted. |

I know they are 2 seperate things. Should they have traded up - no. Did JC bust his pick - yes. When you look at the whole saga of JC with the Skins (trade up, his play, toss him out) the final result is bust. |

good riddance...good luck..but i'm glad he isn't here anymore.

Bust |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Bust
Heath Shuler did nothing and was out of the league quickly. He's a bust. JC, while a disappointment, is a capable mid-level, non-great QB. To use the same word for him that is used for Shuler is offensive. |

Shuler was also a bust but at leat the Skins didnt give up players to get him. |

For reasons I have already mentioned, I'm not going to understand your train of thought on this issue because it lacks logical coherence. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
It would be interesting to see how JC could have performed with a decent O-line. Plus a decent coach! He'll get a better chance in Oakland, sad to say...

Illogical arguments for JC's "bustdom" are tiring. Sorry if I argued excessively. I shall stop. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Now it looks like the "BIG BUST" is getting his fair due, to bad he's already cashed the check Al (YOU FOOL). A one way ticket outta the NFL.
Report: Raiders will cut Russell, possibly this week Posted by Michael David Smith on April 27, 2010 4:57 PM ET Even after the Oakland Raiders traded for Jason Campbell, coach Tom Cable said it was possible for JaMarcus Russell to earn the starting job. But a new report says the Raiders are going to cut Russell, possibly as soon as this week. John Clayton of ESPN reports that the Raiders cutting Russell is a matter of "when," not "if," and that the team could release Russell before Oakland's upcoming minicamp, which opens Friday. The Raiders will save $6.45 million if they cut Russell this year. It should probably go without saying that there's no trade market for him. If Russell goes, the Raiders would have four quarterbacks left on their roster: Campbell, Bruce Gradkowski, Charlie Frye and Kyle Boller. |

Good story GMScud & I agree the Raiders are getting a QB & they gave up nothing for him.
Wait, are you talking about McNabb to the Redskins or Campbell to the Raiders? I get confused when we start talking about other team's trash. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Why does the media now suddenly think that Campbell is a good QB when all they did was trash him when he was with us?

wow, are you calling mcnabb trash ? he's pretty much the reason the eagles offense was any good. |

I don't recall the media trashing JC so much as they trashed Zorn's offense and the whole play-calling fiasco. |

Wasn't the media,it was the fans and although he never bad mouth him DS's(him and Vinny) treatment of him last year during that whole QB situation was pretty bad. |

..........so Brian Westbrook had nothing to do with anything nor did their Defense? |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Jason Campbell, in response to media questions said "he's going to try and learn as much as he possibly can" from JaMarcus Russell. I wonder just what it is he expects to learn? Jason learning from him may very well find himself in his same predicament.

Why would you assume that he's going to be learning from JaMarcus? Even in your post YOU added the from JaMarcus Russell part it wasn't part of the quote. Wouldn't it be more likely that he's learning the playbook and the system? Anyway where is your quote from? This is the last report i heard from da Raiders: NFL Videos: Raiders report
I don't recall the media trashing JC so much as they trashed Zorn's offense and the whole play-calling fiasco.
I agree. I recall more people saying that Campbell did well despite the circumstances. Sonny, Joey T, Aikman etc. I more 'fans' were trashing him then media. |
Re: Campbell A Raider
Kinda strange to see Campbell in something other than a Redskin uniform.

30gut: I'll attempt to calrify my post because it would appear your respone reflects a misrepresentation of what was actually stated.
Nowhere did I state he's going to be learning anything from JaMarcus, therefore your asking: "why would I assume" does not represent what was stated. What I did say was that in response to a reporters question, Jason made the statement about learning from him which was stated in the quotation. The link you posted is not all inclusive, nor is it a summation of all conversations that have taken place between Campbell and the media since his arrival in Oakland. I'll stand by the reported statement even though at the time I read it, I had no intention of linking it in the post and don't remember exactly what site the report came from. Having had to learn as many different systems as Campbell has had too, both in college and the NFL it's highly doubtful the Raiders playbook wiil include anything he's unfamiliar with, different terminology maybe, but the fundamentals of the offense will not be strange to him. |

lol it's from a sports satire blog. Did you click on the link? Its glaringly obvious that its fake.
