Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Can you share some of it because I haven't really found anything good about him.
From Redskins.com on today's practice: -- 10:20 a.m. ET Play Of the Day Devin Thomas found himself drawing triple coverage on a downfield route. The ball came his way anyway. Thomas made the grab and then turned upfield. He out-raced defenders to the end zone for the score. Thomas, a starter last year who is competing for playing time, gave a little fist pump as he crossed into the end zone. ----------- Also this from RI: Redskins Insider - Thomas makes a move in the WR battle |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
If you have never checked out the player interviews on the SKins site.....do so. If you watched the video's last year, they were...serching for something positive to say, and it was obviously BS. NOT SO this year, the guys seem confident and genuinely excited. GREAT stuff

It looks like we made a great pick with Trent Williams.
Whats up with Suh trying to get more than Bradford? If I'm the Lions GM I tell that agent to tell his client he better get comfy on the couch. Maybe get a direct tv package so he can watch football on Sundays. |

If he was dieting correctly his muscle loss should be minimal. It wouldn't be normal to lose that much muscle. |

Yup. Very true. Guys that big with that much body fat %, the initial weight (for a guy his size, 30 lbs is initial) really drops off quickly once diet/exercise habits are changed. Really it probably wasn't too difficult to lose that much fat for him, and if his trainer is worth a damn, he definitely didn't lose much muscle. |

Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Colt continues to do himself no favors. Struggling badly again today. Grossman continues to be steady and fully understands this offense it seems. He's got the back-up QB spot locked down
|
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
If Shanahan rolls with only 2 QBs, as he has a history of doing, Colt is definitely done. Probably a big question mark even if he keeps 3 QBs.

His lazy attitude is showing through.
I would guess that the team is keeping him from stretching. Don't know that for sure, but imagine being the only guy on the field not stretching. Seems like more mind games trying to get his pride angered enough to pass the dang test. I wish we could hear the conversations back and forth and know the real scoop. But that won't come out for a good while. So far the rest of the team seems to be doing a good job of setting aside the distraction. I just hope that continues. (or that he gets on the field and starts practicing). |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Doubt the coaches would let him run w/o stretching first. As far as him standing there watching, I'm guessing he's been told to do that. If he can't participate what else should he be doing?
|
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Warmups and stretching are not really being a part of the practice...but you could be right...could be coach's orders to stand there and look dumb for the cameras. :D
|
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
If he's not going to participate what's the point of stretching? To me it would look even more dumb if he was standing there alone, stretching.

I have some very interesting news I have gleaned from redskins.com. This is a comment made from the practice report for today. Smoot, have you heard any parts of this??
"jjl— POSTED Aug. 2, 2010 8:37am NEWS: Hello everyone, just talked to my bro and he told me the coaching staff and the front office had a meeting late last night under the radar and are discussing moving on without Kelly and are exploring the possibility of a trade very soon which involves draft picks and a player....My bro told me that they would not use names in the meeting and just referred to the player as the "targeted guy"......We all know it is VJ, but until they booted out all the PR and office staff im sure they wont name names as not to get the media going........Mcnabb was present at the down low meeting but when my bro asked him if he was there to discuss the VJ trade rumors he smiled and told my bro.....No comment, they just needed his imput on some current players and he is not worried about guys not in a Redskins jersey......Thanks again bro, enjoy ya day off!" |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
really nice to see that the coaching staff is pushing hard for turnovers. seems like jim hayeslett ( as OBC use to call him) is coaching a greg williams type of defense minus the 4-3, lot's of different coverages, blitzing from everywhere and stressing turnovers.

That would be crazy if we pulled off a Kelly for VJ trade. I wonder what we would have to give up?

I think he mentioned Kelly may be cut so that he can latch on to another team. Another juicy tidbit(fantasy super-sleeper?):
Redskintalk: Austin is already making leaps and bounds in camp, my bro told me the staff is watching alot of Desean Jackson tape in the meeting rooms and are doing alot of the same things in practice that the beagles do with Jackson....He WILL be a big part of the team and from what my bro says he is already being talked about as a weapon this season that could break games open.............Good guess talk!
|

A previous post search nets me this:
jjl — POSTED Jul. 31, 2010 7:32pm scotta2114- He is one of the PR guys that works in the front office, I can't give names but he has full access to the team during camp including most (not all) but most closed door meetings, he is a double threat with a law degree so he sits in alot with agents and over hears alot of what the team will and wants to do in free agency and the draft, he told me TW would be picked a day after he worked out for the Redskins and I told him he was on crack that we were taking Okung......Yup, he rubbed that one in my face right away...lol
|

Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
I was hoping SS could shed some light on the situation. SO you think a trade for VJ would not include trading away Kelly, but instead cutting him outright? I would think if we were going to trade for VJ that the Chargers would want Kelly in the hopes that maybe he does better there. I would think it was worth a chance anyway...

No, it what the guy said in the comments section of the Day 3 Training Camp Report:
The team does not want to give up Moss and the Redskins told the Chargers they would not do it at this time......Do not be surprised if the Skins cut Kelly and trade DT and a 2nd round pick for VJ, I like DT but Moss ond VJ with the other vets could be pretty good.....The talk is that with the 2 TE's we have they could get by without Thomas and Kelly and with VJ some at Redskins park think they would be better off......DT and MK are just not cutting it and the staff has no confidence in them from whet my bro is hearing around the office...........Will be back tomorrow night, got to go to Tampa, got some tickets to the Rays-Yankee game.......HAIL, thanks bro, I know you read this!
|

Well, I would say this. The only time Kelly was seriously a part of any discussion this past off-season was when the Redskins put him out there in a bid for Brandon Marshall. Broncos weren't interested. I don't think MK is helping the Redskins out if they're hoping to use him as trade bait for Jackson. If they do go after Jackson, and I've heard mixed things on that, it's probably going to take Devin Thomas. |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Is it even worth giving up Thomas for VJ? I'm sure theyd probably want Thomas plus picks.
|
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Could we get San Diego to take a (repackaged) 3-4 DE named Haynesworth for VJ?
Or, since Minny showed some previous interest in AH, maybe pull off a three-way trade? |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Honestly, and this just my belief, I don't think we're going to trade for VJ. And I think a big reason why is that the Chargers will not settle for less than something like DT and a 2nd round pick. And Allen will say no.
