I've been hyping up Kellen Moore since last year. I agree we should get this guy. BUT having said that, I asked some of my football friends what they think of Kellen. They brought up good points to me. -what makes him different from John Beck? -What, besides running, makes him different from Tim Tebow? -what makes him completely different from Colt Brennan? Heisman Watch: Kellen Moore - Video - SI.com
-He's a good QB -He has a stronger, more accurate arm. Better pocket presence -You know what, at this point I'd even give Colt a call and see if he wants to QB for us the rest of this year |
I'm still monitoring how St. Louis and Indy do this year. I heard from Michael Lombardi that if the Colts got the number one pick, and Peyton checks out as healthy, the colts would trade it. I know that if the Rams got the number one pick, they wouldn't take Andrew. The teams to worry about are the Cardinals and Dolphins. I really feel that we have a decent (25-45%) chance of getting Andrew Luck. I'd trade 2 firsts for him in a heartbeat.
I'm going to champion my new realistic sleeper prospect
Kirk Cousins 6'3, 210 pounds | Quarterback | Michigan State Kirk Cousins Stats, News, Videos, Pictures, Bio - Michigan State Spartans - ESPN First word: Cousins joins a long list of promising quarterback prospects and is a sleeper pick of many different evaluators. The fact that he has played against good Big 10 competition and has experience undercenter makes him an attractive prospect. He has an opportunity to really improve his stock with a solid season. There is a lot to like about Cousins from his good arm strength to his on field leadership. The ball jumps out of his hand and arrives to his target with zip. There is no doubt that he can make all the necessary NFL throws. His ball placement and accuracy is good on all levels. He can read a defense and is able to locate secondary targets. Cousins has good anticipation which allows him to avoid turnovers and batted balls. While Cousins has a lot of positives there are still some significant concerns. His technique is less than ideal which impacts the delivery of the football. Cousins doesn't step into his throws often throwing off of his back foot resulting in less power. He can get away with this in college but in the NFL with tighter passing windows he could struggle to complete passes. Cousins also doesn't set his body and feet towards his target impacting his accuracy. While he is accurate improved footwork will only make him better. Overall, Cousins has enough talent and potential to warrant the attention he is receiving. He needs a productive season while leading Michigan State to a few more wins. Improving his technique and footwork will only help his draft stock. Bold statement: Kirk Cousins will be a 2nd round pick in 2012 Games viewed: Wisconsin ('10), Iowa ('10), Michigan ('10), Penn State ('10) Notes: Cousins is a decent athlete with the ability to escape the rush Michigan State has a pro style offense that likes to feature play action His experience and success in the Michigan State offense is a positive He possesses a strong arm generating good zip on passes to all levels Cousins keeps his eyes down the field when faced with pressure As he drops back he keeps the ball above his breast plate avoiding wasted motions He has a quick release that allows him to get the ball out on time His accuracy is good on all levels as he leads his targets and also has the touch to drop in a bucket pass The ball jumps out of his hands and arrives to his target on a line He is able to go through his progressions and find the open man and secondary targets Cousins needs to improve his technique as he often throws off his back foot and doesn't align his feet and body towards the target He struggles to get rid of the football as he holds the ball to long and often takes sacks Cousins has a tendency to force the ball when faced with pressure resulting in turnovers |

Tannenhill looks like a classic elder Shanahan QB. Only problem I have is his release is a little sloppy and the offense has to many curls and screens for my taste.

Re: 2012 QB Class
Kellen Moore's first grade from Scouts Inc
1 = EXCEPTIONAL 2 = ABOVE AVERAGE 3 = AVERAGE 4 = BELOW AVERAGE 5 = MARGINAL Kellen Moore: Boise State Grade 47 (6th Round Grade) 31-49 GRADE Late Rounds ROUND EQUIVALENT These are players that flash some upside but certainly do not have the full package in terms of NFL talent. Often times, these are underdeveloped prospects that need extra time and coaching in order to compete for a roster spot in the NFL. NFL teams are looking for 'diamonds in the rough' with this type of prospect. He will usually rate in the bottom third of players at his position and will be considered a late round draft choice or un-drafted free agent. OVERALL FOOTBALL TRAITS Production 1 - "2007: Redshirt. 2008: (14/14) 40528169.43,5022510 2009: (13/13) 43227764.13,536393 2010: (13/13) 38327371.33,845356 " Height-Weight-Speed 5 Vastly undersized in terms of overall measureables for the position. Top-end speed is average. Durability - 3 -"Durability has not been an issue throughout career (2008-'10). However, lack of size particularly bulk brings up concerns about his ability to withstand a 16 game regular season in the NFL. " Intangibles -1 - "A football junky. Intelligent individual and a well spoken representative of the program. Possesses a high football I.Q. Has developed into the unquestioned leader of the team. Holds a 38-2 record as a starter throughout career (2008-'10). Thrives under pressure and wants the ball in his hand late in the fourth quarter with the game on the line. In the 2010 opener down four points with 1:47 left in the game against Virginia Tech, he completed four of five throws taking the team 56 yards for game winning touchdown in just 45 seconds. Graduated in May 2011 with bachelor's degree in communications and is currently pursuing agraduate degree. " QUARTERBACK SPECIFIC TRAITS Mental Makeup - 1- "A cerebral QB that does an efficient job of conducting a pro-style offense. Does a great job of getting pre/post snap reads. Diagnoses coverages quickly and has very good anticipation and timing with throws. A sound decision maker who can get through progressions and rarely forces throws into coverage. Understands the value of ball security and willing to take check downs. Holds a 99-19 TD/INT ratio through first three seasons. Arguably the most poised, efficient and effective QBs in all of football running the two-minute drill with the game on the line. " Accuracy - 3 - "Throws a catchable ball. Very accurate with short-throws and rarely forces targets to adjust to the ball. Also displays excellent touch to drop the ball in the bucket with fade/go routes. Can change ball speeds and projection with intermediate crossing passes. Flashes ability to make accurate throw off of back foot. However, too often falls away with throws which can lead to him missing the mark especially high. Accuracy can also dip when having to drive the ball in tight window down field. " Release/Arm Strength - 4 - "Possesses a bit of ¾ release. Lower release point combined with lack of height brings up concerns for batted down balls. To his credit, does an excellent job of changing release points when need be. Arm strength is average at best. Will have issues driving the ball down field and ball can hang in the air with deeper out routes. Bottom line will have to rely on above-average anticipation and timing to be successful at the next level." Pocket Mobility - 2 "Lacks speed and elusiveness to be a running threat. However, is quick and has great poise in the pocket. Naturally feels the rush and does a great job of maneuvering to buy time while keeping eyes down field. While he lacks height he does a nice job of finding throwing lanes to deliver throw. Can buy break contain and extend play outside of the pocket if need be. Needs to do a better job of keeping two hands on the ball to protect the ball inside the pocket. " |

I agree. Its time to stop trying to find late round gems at Qb. Even late 1st round guys like Campbell are risks. Time to invest a top 5 pick at the most important position on the field. |

Id take him on as a project backup. He's a more-useful version of Pineapple Jesus, and there is little risk. If he is available in round 5 or later, i pull the trigger: either he doesnt turn into a strong nfl qb and we only lost a 5th round pick, or he is excellent and becomes a starter/trade bait. Why not? |

Tired of hoping to get lucky and get a Rodgers or Brady. Finally wanna draft that guy that we know is the future from day. Its always a risk but I want that top 5 guy finally. |

Or he could be the Gus Frerotte to our top-5 Heath Shuler. Jokes aside, I wouldn't mind drafting a QB as high as we can and another one later on. |

Not worried just curious. :) And I agree about drafting two qb's. My biggest fear is the underclassmen not declaring and we end up with only a couple good options that get swept up quickly. |
Re: 2012 QB Class

My concern is that he doesn't want to come out. I hope he has a change of heart, because he would be my first pick after Luck. |
Re: 2012 QB Class
Robert Griffin is staying in school according to reports to finish his degree. He's had 2 torn ACL's in the past couple of years. I dunno if he's someone we should spend a first round pick on.
|
Re: 2012 QB Class
I'm so nervous about all of the Junior Qb's staying in college (not including Luck). I can see Barkley, RGIII and Jones (I'm not high on Jones) all deciding to stay in college 1 more year.
After just doing some research and watching some video on RGIII he is a better version of Jake Locker who went in the top 10 last year. The guy has a cannon arm and can make plays with his feet. If the juniors stay in school there are no other qb's worth drafting in the 1st round. Tannehill, Foles, Moore, etc. etc. are all 2nd round picks at the earliest. Out of all those guys I'd say Tannehill is the best fit for the Redskins current offense, even though I'm a fan of Foles size and arm. I'd be happy with Luck, Barkley or RGIII in the 1st round or Tannehill/Foles in the 2nd round. I like Moore from Boise State but everything I'm reading on him is that you can get him in the mid to late rounds. Wouldnt mind taking two qbs if we could get more in the 5th round or so. |

We all know what you feel that we shouldn't draft him in the first round. I don't go down that road with you. What I will say is that when he's drafted in the first round it's going to be because of his great accuracy, great mobility, good arm, and good vision. Based on what I've seen out of all the qbs in this draft he definitely has the biggest upside outside of Luck.
