Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
Since the owners are concerned with player safety, maybe the could somehow institute this into the game. Concussions are a thing of the past! ;)

Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
Question and I have ask this before, why sign some of the other free agents before Fletcher? Not getting into the whole penilty thing again but to me he should have been your #1 defensive priority, once you started to look at the defense he should have been first.I said it before I would love to see Fletcher with the Giants I think the guy is great.
I like to think there was more happening then we all know. I think the team had a plan as to how to handle the offseason. The punishment, although some would like to say both teams knew one was coming I don't think they thought it would be as big as it was if any at all. See the two teams put the league in a bad spot. No way the NFLPA would agree to not file suit, and no way would the league punish them with out risking proving there was collusion. On top of all this there might have been agreements made with agents in order to get deals done quick prior to FA and prior to the league punishing the two teams. I think the team went about its normal routine getting FA's while trying to figure out what to do next about their plan. Part B of the plan was to also wait and see what Fletcher would get offered on the open market and match it. As far as we know the top two LB's have not even had a nibble as of yet. So although Fletcher sits there and it looks bad on us I think he's waiting to see if we are going to get any money back to resign him. As the media puts it this should be a slam dunk for both teams, legally both teams did not break any laws and did not violate any CBA cause there was not one, on top of that the league approved the deals when they had the opportunity to turn them down and force the two teams to either not make new deals or atleast rework them to fall with the perimeters set out. The league didn't, they approved the deals. Personally there has to be an appeal of the process to show they don't agree with it and give the league the opportunity to give it back or come to some form of agreement. If that does not happen then a trial might be in the works. But to answer your question I think the fight to get some of the money back is now the new plan is to try to get Fletcher signed. |

I'd settle for the Saints 2nd round pick this year and $15mil back. |

In a court of law the judge is going to look at the first illegal act which was the little agreement and everything after is a moot point because of the original illegal act. Mora is a tool. Most media sources were siding with the punished teams not the league cause they know the agreement to begin with was wrong, but I'd guess if I was looking for a HCing job somewhere I'd side with the owners also. |

Ok I know your going to say F them but if we get that what is propper compensation to the Cowboys? Wouldn't they like to have the 2nd RD pick also? I'd take a compensatory pick say the 1st RD? They can flip a coin to see which team gets the first compensatory pick. |

I'd settle for the full $36 mil back but I think the fair ruling would be to give us $36 mil PLUS a compensatory pick for screwing us out of FAs that we would have had an opportunity to sign at normal cap size. |

We kept 18mill of the 36. In other words all they took was 18mill. I agree I'd rather have our full money back. Once the other teams saw any other owner not keeping to the agreement then all bets should have been off and all the owners should have done the same. I'd like our 18mill back. |
Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
"I thought the penalties imposed were proper," Mara said. "What they did was in violation of the spirit of the salary cap. They attempted to take advantage of a one-year loophole, and quite frankly, I think they're lucky they didn't lose draft picks."
This literally made me LOL. EVERYTHING you said in there in no way relates to illegal activity or rule-breaking. "Spirit" and "loophole" are the two words he might have wanted to re-think. He just sounds stupid there. Have we ever found out the person in charge of the whole vote or whatever it was that ended up costing us the money? |

What's gonna be funny is when the NFL gives us Cap space back but then takes away picks over the G. Williams scandal as retaliation for arbitration.

Wrong. We currently have been cleared but if new details come out in the future the NFL reserves the right to place a punishment at that point. |

Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
What are the ramifications if its was found to be a bogus punishment? It obviously have hurt us in the free agency period. I would think they would have to give us the cap room back and then some type of cap "credit" for damages

Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
I hope the judge sees Mara's conflict of interest. I don't think he would be as emotional if he were not an owner in the NFC east. I think what he is REALLY concerned about is facing a Redskin team with a quality QB twice a year- expecially since he couldn't beat us last year WITHOUT a QB. You should be afraid Mara - we DOMINATED you by 2 scores last year. Please say something else to the media. LOL

Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
So what do they do with the redistributed $$$ if they give the penalty $$$ back to us/DAL? Most teams have probably already spent that $$$.

Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess
I feel like the money isn't enough at this point, they owe the Skins and Cowboys picks, clearly more to the skins or higher round due to the severity. Other than redoing free agency, which would never happen, theres no way other than draft picks to make up for the fact they essentially missed out on free agency.

Yes it will be funny since Goodell has already said while GW was with the Skins there was no bounty type system in place. Look the reason the Saints got hammered was because Goodell contacted the Saints 3 seperate times in regards to the bounty and all 3 times the Saints LIED and denied there was any form of bounty. Thats why they got hammered. But... your right it will get interesting if they do what you said because they have already come out and said unless there is other information their investigation has shown the Skins didn't have a bounty system. There was a system but a bounty system is when you in advance set a $ amount to have someone taken out of a game. and as I've said before I can't recall any plays where our defense has hit someone and put them out of a game and the hit looked questionable. The PManning hit if I recall Fletcher was going to hit him chest level and PM lowered his stance as in flinching or tried to duck away from the hit and yes I think Fletcher hit him in the shoulder and lower helmet jaw area causing issue's with his neck. Not on purpose though. |

Re: Redskins, Cowboys could go “nuclear” over cap mess

IS THERE NO HONOR AMONG THIEVES?????
This my friend is the best example of exactly what the issue is. What baffles me is how the players not the NFLPA who reps them but the players themselves are not up in arms about their DSmith agreeing to such a deal. Ok the deal was made, but what if each individual player started filing their own law suit saying that they don't agree with the agreement DSmith made with the owners not to go after them. Were talking about hundereds of millions of dollars they could win. Not just 46mill. If I was DSmith I would have said go ahead and lower the CAP and you will definitely see a law suit for collusion for more then the 46mill you want to punish your counterparts for. He had the league over the barrel also. He should have told them he would have to take it to the next players meeting and let them vote on it. The problem was that it would have taken too long and not effected what we did. The committee wanted to effect what we could do this year. and they did. |
