Love how everyone one is a GM and college scout. It's one thing to question time management, play calling and even FA signings. They had a good draft last year so I will hold back all of criticisms on this draft for a while.

Re: 2012 NFL Draft (Day 2)
Interesting choice. Know he was a guy they liked, but they had been supposedly looking at him for the 5th-6th round. Then again, they were considering Wilson around there too and he's already gone.
Gives them some flexibility on the interior but not the move I would have made |

Wow, lots of PMS'ing about that pick. I'm just glad we got a lineman and bring some competition.

Re: 2012 NFL Draft (Day 2)
Interesting about the Sanu pick... the NFL guys said that someone pranked him yesterday in the first round: Acted like the Bengals and told him they were taking him. His family started celebrating... sad! Interestingly, he gets picked by Cincy two rounds later.

If u judged players off of looks than Larry Bird would have been an unknown.. Lets just wait and see w this guy

Re: 2012 NFL Draft (Day 2)
Apparently the coaches have full confidence in their training regiment to correct for his lack of athletic polish.
His 3-cone drill and 20-yard shuttle are not awful, hence he's worth a shot. His 40 time is absolutely irrelevant. Lichtensteiger has a 5.25 40 and he's still deemed athletic for an OL. |
Re: 2012 NFL Draft (Day 2)
Josh LeRibeus
Biography: Broke into the starting lineup as a sophomore in 2009. Academically ineligible during the 2010 campaign. Positives: Tough, explosive blocker who's effective in motion. Gets his hands into defenders, keeps his feet moving and turns opponents off the line. Displays solid overall body strength, plays with good quickness and keeps his head on a swivel. Recognizes stunts or twists thrown by opponents and plays with awareness. Anchors at the point of attack and does not give up an inch to defenders. Fluid moving across the line of scrimmage, quick out to the second level and out-positions linebackers from the action. Negatives: Occasionally late getting his hands into defenders. Lacks classic height for an interior blocker. Analysis: LeRibus returned to form in 2011 and made scouts take notice with his exceptional play. He's a solid prospect with the ability to line up for a number of offensive systems in the NFL and could eventually develop into a starter. Projection: 7-FA Read more: Josh LeRibeus - 2012 Draft Tracker - SI.com |

The fact that the guy ate himself off his team for a year tells me he would have still been there in the later rounds. I really hope this guy works out. With all the high round picks we traded away for Griffin we definitely needed to land a future starter with this pick. Hopefully we did that. |

Re: 2012 NFL Draft (Day 2)
He's not Trent Williams athletically but he does have very good footwork and a decent bench press - 225 29 reps (Trent Williams had 23 reps at his combine). I think he will be fine.

Aldrick will take the league by storm next year. Lookout DBs. He's why Dallas traded up for Claiborne.

3rd round is not the place to put hopes on ANYONE being a sure starter. Simply because you want or need something doesn't mean you'll get it. And it was academic ineligibility. |

Dan Shonka just tweeted me that he thinks LeRibeus is tough but has a lot to learn.

Re: 2012 NFL Draft (Day 2)
I love how so many people here act like this guy should have gone in 5th-7th round because AFTER we drafted him they did a google search and in 20 seconds saw some website comprised of opinions of people who are NOT NFL GMs gave him that grade. Our front office, and the other 31, pay staffs of scouts, coaches, and gms lots of money to evaluate college players. Team staffs spend MONTHS researching all these players in depth, and give each one of them a grade based on feedback provided by scouts, position coaches, coordinators, head coah, etc. but some people here label this guy a reach and piss on MONTHS of work because of a 20 second google search.
So if you're one of those who instantly criticized this pick, tell us all: What do you know about him in 20 seconds that our team didn't find out in their extensive research? |

Just saw tape on LeRibus. He looks really fast...but his combine numbers are so slow. Anyone know what the deal on his speed is? Does he have a good split and a bad last 20 yards?

Speed isn't the name of the game. Offensive line is all about quickness. I'd grade out his footwork at an A- based on the combine footage I aw. |
