Rod Smith. Similar stature, similar style of play, similar pedigree coming into the league, similar skillsets within Shanahan's offense. Both were physical players that played bigger than their sizes, fought for ever yard after the catch, could run the entire route tree, had the ability to be explosive and play in possession, and took pride in the running game.
Pierre Garcon strikes me as a great all-around WR. He may not be elite in any single area, but he's very strong in all of them.
Good call!! Smith had several 1000+ seasons...hopefully Garcon get there. And welcome aboard! :) |

i actually like that chip on Morgan's shoulder. never realized he was that aggressive. been a long time since the skins had someone like him. dare i say Gary Clark? and yes, that was a stupid penalty

brian mitchell was aggressive. fiesty and talking trash after the play but i don't remember him making too many bone-headed plays like morgan's. |

Aggressive (and smart) would be turning inside and upfield for the 1st down, or even busting through defenders for more yards. |

Well, of course he does. If they'd flagged Long as they should have he wouldn't be so chipper. Aspiring to be the dirtiest player in the NFL? Classy, Cortland. |

:Smoker:
You can't seperate the two IMO. Talyor played as passionate as anyone in the game and his attitude was tough as nails. Same can be said of Bill Romanoski who also spit in someone's face. Love em or hate em these guys are what make football the greatest game out there IMO. Morgan...whatever. Muff said. |

I would also like to add that Morgan will learn from this and I highly doubt this kid does this again. |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
It was a dumb play on Morgan's part no doubt, and it's highly magnified by his timing. He is, however, one of our play makers on offense and will make plays all year.
Steven Jackson had an equally bone headed play in the second quarter. He though he scored a touchdown and spiked the ball in frustration, earning himself an unsportsmanlike penalty. He didn't smell the field the rest of the game. I doubt Fisher even considered cutting or benching him the next game, and I sure Shanahan has never considered benching or cutting Morgan as well. |

Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
Morgan needed to step up since Garcon was out.
Bottom line, when the game was on the line and his team was depending on him, he didn't make the first down to potentially win....then he blew his top to guarantee a loss. Say what you like...but Shanny not taking any action against him is very weak coaching. Compare him to the greats, Lombardi, Gibbs, Walsh, Jimmy Johnson, etc. All of them...even the caring Gibbs would have disciplined him by benching to at least a fine. Morgan has done little to establish himself as anything about the #3 receiver anyways if that is justification to do nothing. I am sick to death of hot headed idiots, I was expecting D Hall to get several penalties. The Skins need to stay classy...which they arent at this point. RG3 has no business criticizing the Rams, when D Hall, a supposed leader is having to be separated from fighting...he is an idiot too....and it translated to the newer players. Get used to it folks. If Shanny aint gunna do squat...the undisciplined play will continue. I personally would have benched him for a week and said anyone else to draw a similar unsportsman attitude related penalty will get the same...including loss of pay if that is possible. |
Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
I think it's hard to stay classy when people are straight up thugging on the field. I think the Skins handled themselves well, shit just broke down when it mattered most. I think that game could've gone way, way worse. The refs were just clowns with stripes on and had no control of the game or the players. The might as well hadn't even been there.
For awhile I was expecting Gilbert Arenas to pop up in a Rams uniform and wave a gun around. That's how bad I thought it was. I doubt you'll see the Skins conduct breakdown like that again. And D. Hall is well... D. Hall. We know to expect that kind of behavior out of him. He's the Dennis Rodman of the Skins. |

If anything, the Skins were given ample opportunity to turn the other cheek, take a shove, fall over and draw a 15 yard penalty, instead, they fought after the whistle, which is clearly against the rules...they can play macho and risk losing the game or they can play with a clear head, play smarter and have the other team make the mental mistakes. It was a smart play by the Rams...they got inside Morgan's head and he blew the game. They are better coached, so they won....simple as that....you can think it is cheap to try to provoke an illegal action or you can call it smart. Bottom line, it worked....Skins lose. We lost Offense, Defense (badly), special teams, and discipline. I was frankly suprised it was as close as it was...and that was only due to the defensive TD, RG3 and Morris Morgan is an idiot....expect every defense to provoke him all year long. (Also expect heavy punt block attempts all year.) I am disappointed in Shanny for taking no action |

Shanny has been parting ways with bad attitudes since he got here. How can you say that we are an undisciplined team because of ond play. Are you even allowed to fine a guy because of a penalty? The game got out of hand which is nobodys fault but the refs for not nipping it in the bud. I think you are overreacting completely. |
So now we are an undisciplined bunch of "idiots" that get outcoached and our stud qb is classless and we can expect this to go on all year according to last few posts. Wtf? It was also a road game against a vastly improved team. My God.

Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
morgan made a stupid mistake and he hasn't given much reason for people to look beyond that, but our D is what lost this game. and we had other chances to pull it out, but the rams played better than us and it's probably time to move on...

Re: Release Josh Morgan or else....
He wont learn from this or he wont do it again?
He won't do it again. The dude lost himself for a second. I was pissed when it happened and thinking back on it, I think if it had happened earlier in the game, Morgan probably would've been benched. I think between it happening at the end of the game, I don't think benching him would achieve anything now. The fact that the team doesn't blame him for it and have supported him and the fact crazy asses are sending him death threats, Morgan probably won't forget himself like that again. The Skins aren't known for being thugs on the field and we had Zorn as a coach! We were running the swinging gate play! We signed Haynesworthless to 100 million dollar deal! If there was anytime for the team to completely collapse it would've been then. It won't happen now. |

Fail to get a first down: That's a paddlin. Retaliate against known instigator: That's a paddlin. Speak out in the press against dirty play: That's a paddlin. Don't stay classy: That's a paddlin. Being an idiot: That's a paddlin. Play undisciplined: Oh you better believe that's a paddlin. Go paddlin' in the school canoe: You know it's a paddlin. Exist as DeAngelo Hall: That's a paddlin. Let the other team instigate: That's a paddlin. Don't instigate when you should be instigatin': That's a paddlin. Decline the opportunity to go all "bonecrusher" on the captain of the opposing team: That's a paddlin. Don't taunt the opposing sideline in front of the refs, and continue to do so after the refs warn you: That's a paddlin. Fail to score on a 62 yard field goal: That's a paddlin. Not allow Mike Shanahan access to your tanning bed: That's a paddlin. Defending dirty play: Not a paddlin. |
