Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
I'm not panicking yet but i'm hearing lots of the same news about RG3 maybe being out 18 months on a "best case scenario" type deal. Snyder allegedly flying down with RG3 because there is a chance that the injury could be career-ending.
Prayers needed right now for Robert, I would have to almost guess that somebody is gonna be a scapegoat if RG3 is indeed done.... |
You cannot listen to a player in regards to a injury. He could have had a broken spine and still been begging to get in the game. That's how they are. This decision is up to a medical staff and coaching staff. C'mon man, it was obvious this guy should not have been playing. You don't need a medical degree or even stay at a Holiday Inn Express to saw that. Some things are just blatantly obvious. That was one of them.
Again, I think after this, those duties should be stripped from Shanahan and put on the world renowned doctor they've hired. Grant Paulsen ‏@granthpaulsen Mike Shanahan said he didn't speak to the doctors between Robert Griffin's 1st quarter re-aggravation & when the QB came back into game. ^^See...this shit is a problem. A huge problem.
I couldn't agree more To say this is no ones fault is bullshit Read the game thread,90 percent of us realized in the 2nd qtr Rg3 needed to be replaced by Cousins, even Matty joined the thread to say put in Cousins If Rg3 was healthy and this happened, then no one would be to blame This is absofukinlutely on Shanahan, and to a lesser extent RG3 himself |

Coaches/players gamble with these decisions all the time. Heck, I've heard that Garcon's injury could have come back at any time. Not the same context, but I am just saying that these do or die decisions happen all the time. Had RG3 finished the game and won (with similar health results), we'd be praising them for bravery and guts. |

wasn't he standing on it on his own on the sideline? usually these guys are gritting their teeth, getting carted off the field in obvious agony. is griff that tough?

Not so. Chris Clemons, who was injured yesterday, has a torn ACL. He walked off the field and to the lockerroom. |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
Even had we lost, but not had that calamitous incident happen, we would have sat toasting his toughness, looking at the rehab process and counting the days to next year. I am sure Shanahan would like to have the time back, but no one can do that, and for the Skins, it's just a bitter pill at the end of a Division Championship season.
|
Now some of u are saying his career is over?? My God I can't wait until the final results are in.

They may do exploratory surgery according to Mike Jones (from WaPo). |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
If they are partial tears, can they be fixed without surgery? Is surgery the better option for a partial tear?

That's what the report says, saying it may be healed without surgery |

You didn't see the part when he went back to the locker room? Pain shots man, Pain shots... Does anyone here really believe he didn't tear those ligaments 4 weeks ago? Come on now.... |

He probably torn those ligaments on that fumble snap. I am sure a health player's knee gets f'ed up the way that knee twisted. |
It's funny they had no problem with a diagnosis after the Baltimore game.
They are to guarded with their answers. He has tore something and will have surgery tomorrow. So, the ? now is if he will be out 8, 12 or 16. |

No way ANY doctor clears a NFL player to play with torn ligaments. And if Shanahan did do put him in knowing that, he would never coach again. |
Whether its partial or a fully torn ACL-he should get surgery IMO

i don't believe he tore them 4 weeks ago, mark me naive? |

Yep there's the one good gif of it where you can see him look at his leg and then basically collapse straight down (face in dirt). Whatever the really bad thing is in this diagnosis, that is when it happened, imo. |

RGIII is Boobie Miles.

Why would he tear ligaments taking a snap? |

I'll tell you what, go ahead and twist your knee the same way RG3's knee twisted on that fumbled snap. Tape the whole thing and upload it to YouTube. If your ligaments do not tear, then you are correct. |

His knee was still weak from the Ravens game, but the ligaments were not tore as they are now. They already had a MRI prior so I'm not buying the ACL was tore prior. |

Thats not the result of a level 1 sprain at week 4 of healing, thats a very loose knee with very limited natural support. Guess all we can do at this point is hope he heals fast. |
Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...
(Wow, reading this thread has been almost as painful as watching RGIIIs knee. So, when is the amputation?)
Here's a question for ya: why was the field in such god-awful shape? It basically injured their kicker and I'd say it injured RGIII at the end. We've got one of the richest sports franchises in the world and we play on a field that's not even close to the quality of my elementary school playground. WTF??? As for decision making and injuries--it was a mistake, but I get why it happened. Shanny and the team are like the rest of us: we're in awe of the kid. Plus, he beat Philly and Dallas on one leg, so why not? So long as the docs are ok with it (and it's BS to say Andrews didn't see the knee after the first quarter injury--we saw him in the sideline "shed" with RGIII and the trainers. They re-taped the knee.), then it's a matter of how the kid is playing. So, leaving the injury aspect out, it's a very tough call. With the injury risk in, yeah, pull him. But don't forget that Shanny himself played a game with serious internal injuries in college. So he's probably biased towards the "let them play" school. Anyway, it was a mistake. But I get the thinking. |
