That is correct I would not!! In business you learn not to befriend your direct reports. If you do they will more than likely take advantage of you. That is business 101.. If my boss had a relationship with one of my reports, I would feel hampered in how I could discipline that report. The problem is Synder was the kid who was picked last in backyard sports, probably picked on in high school, and now wants to be one of the cool kids.. Who by the way sucks at Madden in Franchise mode...

You have little to no idea what the friendship is. And little to no idea what responsibilities they have as an owner and franchise player. You make a whole bunch of assumptions based on selective things you choose to hear.

It's easy to just put the blame on Snyder every time, but you're not using your brain if you do-especially this time

Snyder gave Shanny everything he wanted control-wise and I'm sure it was tough for Dan to do that. The worse thing that could happen is Snyder gets pissy feeling betrayed by the trust he gave Shanny and goes back to old Dan.

In regards to Snyder's history as an owner, many mistakes have been made. Lets see if he's learned anything on how he handles another circus. But when it comes to blame this time I give Dan a pass. This is Shanny's mess

Brody81 12-14-2013 07:57 PM

I blame Sniffer because he is the one making these hires.. So Smooth, who fault is it for 20+ years of dysfunction in this organization? Santa Clause? Obama? How about Elvis? You guys are like battered women that continue to blame themselves..

I will stop blaming sniffer if he takes a hiatus to Europe this offseason and let's Allen pick the coach, draft the players, and completely removes himself from Redskins park for the next year. Otherwise this ship will continue to sink, because everything he touches with the Redskins turns to shit!!!
BTW ... one of the most successful owners during the Gibbs era? Eddie DeBartalo. Guy hung out in locker rooms and was a HUGE fan of his players.
Good point. To me it's unprofessional to go out drinking/dinner with players if you're an owner. Where DeBartalo hung out with some of the players, Cooke never did this, and according to Theismann, didin't even know the names of all of his players. Two great owners with different styles.

However, if you have a player that has a direct effect on your business, like a Brady, Manning or Breees, and they've earned their stripes, I don't see a problem with it once in a while. A rookie QB that has one good year under his belt? Probably not a good idea on so many levels.

Snyder ownes the team. He has every right to have his nose in every part of his business. That doesn't then he's making decisions on players, but he has the right to be involved.

So Snyder does what all of us were b*tching him to do (get a real GM and let football people run football business) and it is still his fault?

Snyder is no saint, but all signs during the Shanahan regime point to him being a hands off owner.

Ahh, the beauty of the unverifiable assumption. You, of course, have proof that your belief is held by the "majority of Redskins' fans".

Further, what we are discussing is not a matter of pure opinion but rather a factual conclusion (Snyder is inordinately enamored of his players) based on actual verifiable facts (Snyder does things with certain players that other owners do not - have dinner with them, have conversations outside the chain of command about how the franchise should be run, etc.).

As to the underlying verifiable facts, a majority vote is simply irrelevant (Although a majority of uninformed idiots may say the sun is the center of the universe, it does not change the verifiable fact that it isn't). Further, majority opinons on factual conclusions that are based on faulty or non-existent verifiable facts are ignorant, irrelevant and unpersuasive. Similar to pure opinions without factual basis, belief in such factual conclusions without verifiable facts to support them is simply a bias or prejudice.

You are entitled to hold whatever bias or prejudice you choose to hold as to Snyder and to spout any garbage you so desire to justify your unverifiable beliefs. However, if you want to be perceived as anything other than an uninformed ignoramus shooting forth diarhea of the mouth for the sole purpose of spreading vitriol, specific verifiable facts and logical rhetorical progressions are necessary. These have been sadly lacking in your posts. Thus, the rest of us are left only with the conclusion that you are nothing better than a town idiot or corner prophet spouting the doom of mankind is nigh.

In short, yes - you are being ridiculous.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

Whenever I hear people quickly blame Dan Snyder for anything wrong in Redskins land, I just want to point them to these posts that our very own SmootSmack had posted about a year ago.

http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/50805-espn-why-did-steve-spurrier-fail-3.html#post975270

Start with the first post from SS in this link and read the following posts as well. I think this page is an eye opening look into how Snyder is often demonized for no reason. Now don't get me wrong, I think Snyder shares plenty of blame when it comes to some of the negativity surrounding the team, but once one reads these posts, you'll see that a lot of the blame that is often hurled at Snyder is unwarranted.

For the most part, I think Dan is truly trying to do what is best for the team. Look at the things he's done that us 'skins fans had begged for. He got rid of Vinny Cerrato. He hired a GM. He has even hired a consultant to work with the GM in player personnel. He hired Joe Gibbs. He hired Mike Shanahan. Two Super Bowl winning coaches who were known for having disciplined winning teams under their direction. He's hired college coaches, coordinators, etc... He afforded the opportunity for this team to go out and get a franchise quarterback (which I realize the judgment is still out for that.) Most importantly, he's fought to keep the name of the team.

All in all, I think Dan has truly tried to do what he feels is the best interest for this team, but ultimately, what the fans want. It just hasn't worked out. Maybe he needs to do more? I don't know. But I just don't see how anybody can blame the current situation on Daniel Snyder - especially Daniel Snyder being a "meddlesome" owner.

Not trying to be disrespectful to other members. If my posts have disrespected anyone I apologize. I'm just arguing my points to why I think Dan is mostly to blame. I'm sure 95% of the BS we are currently dealing with is Mike Shanahan, and his cronies.. However, let's not forget Dan hired him. Again, no disrespect, I'm just frustrated with the circus that continues to follow this team.

Anyway, I think this nail has been hammered enough, so no point talking about it again. Let's just hope Dan or whoever is making the decisions gets it right this time... At the end of the day, I will always be a Redskins fan, and will continue to root for the team I have grown up loving.

P.S. Mattyk, I typed "I will not be disrespectful to others" 100 times on my computer. Is this good enough to get me out of the principal's office? :-)

With regard to hiring new coaches this year; I realize coordinators of other teams are not blocked from interviewing for head coaching jobs, does the same apply for position coaches?

I'm asking this question because I'm so tired of seeing Jim Haslett looking so confused on the sideline/coaches box. I'd love to see whoever comes in as the Head Coach next year hire someone like Winston Moss with a good pedigree in coaching the 3-4. He currently holds the title Assistant Head Coach / Inside Linebackers Coach. Would this hypothetically block us from interviewing him? Or at least require us to give him the same AHC title along with Defensive Coordinator?

My preference for next year would be:
HC: Darrell Bevell
OC: Chris Ault
DC: Winston Moss

Thanks in advance.

Have to speak up on this post, the notion respect, respectful comments or anything to do with respect is really at issue here doesn't pass the smell test for a nanosecond. For years I've been shit on, called the foulest of names and whatnot, but without reciprocating with any of that filth. If anything the handful of mental midgets who engaged in that crap (all on my ignore list now) were encouraged to keep going. And for what? Basically because I held an unpopular opinion about the coaches, that turned out to be true lol. Now almost everyone says/knows almost exactly what I have for years.

I'm not defending the dudes opinions about Snyder btw, but there's a principe at work far more important.

I think you get crapped on because you're pretty one trick pony. Just like ole Brody. Just because Shanny has gone rogue doesn't mean the incessant parroting of the "Shanahan is awful" narrative was the right way to go...or even accurate. The proverbial PR tides have turned on MS because of his dip-shittery in the last several weeks more than anything.

Arrangements can usually be made, but yeah that's often why coaches are given titles like Assistant HC, to make it harder for them to leave

So, getting back into the meat and potatoes of the search for the next head coach, looks like Jim Schwartz is probably going to get fired in Detroit. Would you take a look at him for the head coaching position, or would you rush to hire him as your defensive coordinator? Or choice C, none of the above?

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)

From Mike Jones Q&A:

I suspect the Shanahans will not be back next season, so who is the most likely candidate for head coach?

We touched a little on this last week, and it's still hard to say because no one knows what Snyder is thinking, or what he and Bruce Allen will want in a coach. Will they try to go after the biggest name available? Jon Gruden has said he plans to go back to Monday Night Football another year (although that doesn't necessarily mean anything). Bill Cowher doesn't sound like he has plans to come out of retirement. Tony Dungy has said he'd never coach for Snyder. Lovie Smith? Or, should/will they try to find the next great coach and pursue an up-and-coming coordinator? Two names that would seem like smart candidate choices are Seattle offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and San Francisco offensive coordinator Greg Roman. Both have had success with young, mobile quarterbacks, which would be good for Griffin. Both run offenses that are based on the rushing attack, which would be good for Alfred Morris. Both spread the ball around to multiple weapons. Both are in their early 40s. You wouldn't think either would come in and demand full control, and that could pave the way for this team to finally hire a real general manager. Bruce Allen essentially could take over as team president, and a GM would handle the personnel decisions.
