Morgan Moses may be a great pick to solidify the offensive line at 34.
Moses at 34 would be an absolute steal. Few players at 34 would make me happier than him. My only worry at this point is he could easily go mid to late first. Still a starter at RT and a more than viable backup at LT would see me singing for seemingly no reason.
... I guess it depends on how much and how strongly you believe it will upgrade the RT position over Montgomery. Versus the feeling and grade you have with a player at another position.

This is probably why they say you need to stay true to your board- to make sure that you're basing your decision based on a well thought-out plan.
I do believe they have a thought out plan, I would put odds on dropping back at least 1 time maybe 2 times and getting the best tackle available. Barring a true steal at 34 I will be shocked if we do anything other than that. I also think that there will be alot of interest in pick number 34. I don't know that the second trade down will happen, or would be worth it, regardless of how deep this draft is.

Polumbus is a good run blocker that's what the coaches see that I think we fans discount. The problem IMO is that he is a terrible pass blocker, and maybe Gruden is willing to accept that they have to give him help.
Why do we rarely talk about Compton taking over at RT?
I did see an article a couple of months ago that at least offered a refresher on Compton but in terms of press among fans theres not much go on, especially considering that hes a 6th round pick. If I find it I'll post it later. In the meantime heres a small report from camp last year.

From a fans point of view though they see no coaches, beat reporters, or even bloggers touting him (which given his lack of game film is understandable). Most of his press seems to be simply listing him as an option next to LeRibeus and Gettis but not much beyond that:

Washington Redskins begin offseason workout program Monday - The Washington Post
Is Tom Compton in the mix? I think we’ll find out more after the draft, based on what the Redskins do – or don’t do.
I think you guys get the point but for the record there are at least two more of these type of quotes I could have added here :D

On top of that fans at least see right now that the team seems to seriously consider selecting a RT early in the upcoming draft not to mention a couple of feelers on free agents, most notably Donald Penn who obviously ended up signing with Oakland.

I guess as a fan base all we really know of him is this; based on draft day reports we know he's strong as an ox and at the very least he's been deemed good enough to keep in the mix, making the final roster last year after being kept on the practice squad for the majority of his rookie season.

Bottom line in regards to most 6th round picks, a lack of information is deemed a bad sign among fans. Weather or not thats actually the case remains to be seen.

Update: This appears to be the article I saw earlier in the offseason but it appears to just basically be slightly longer version of the "The Ballard of [the Unproven] Tom Compton." Now avaialable on I-Tunes

Side Note: I think that I just set the 2014 offseason record for mentions of Tom Compton in a single post, comment, or article. Beating out even the Compton 2014 Happy New Year Family Newsletter
"Tom is doing great staying on the roster of that Maroon and Gold football team, and will probably compete with his teammates next year to stay on the team so he can collect an oversized welfare check while the rest of the family actually works for a living in the oil fields of South Dakota. Also Gruden's RT at Cinci was a former 1st round pick. So I can't see him being content with Polumbus
Lawerence is small for a DE, and slow for an OLB

Verrett could be a good one, but probably would not play much next year...lets see what Crawford, and Minnifield can do before drafting a CB high

Kouandjio is slow, and has health issues

FWIW.... Morgan Moses has been invited to attend the draft, does this mean he could go in the first round ?

Let's hope that Crawford comes back from his injury ready to kick butt and take names.

This is not a knock, just a comment, but Verrett doesn't fit the NFL trend of favoring bigger corners. I wonder what this will mean for him. Again, I'm not knocking his talent.

As for Kouandjio, IMO we get more bang for our #34 buck if we choose Amaro or trade down.

Kouandijo feels a bit like Da'Quan Bowers to me. All that raw talent, so tempting to any team looking to upgrade either Tackle spot. I'd argue that if you just look at physical upside alone he's second only to Greg Robinson for this years draft.

However failing a handful of teams physicals he feels radioactive. Granted all this might be a moot point if the following rumor comes to fruition:

On another note it seems like the team really likes Cameron Fleming (OT Stanford).
April 17th: News/Notes/Visits
- Virginia tackle Morgan Moses (scouting report) is also a possibility in the late part of round one and his value has increased after the injury to Brandon Thomas. Its not that Thomas would have been selected before Moses rather the injury precludes a team passing on Moses with the hopes of getting Thomas a round later. I’m told the Carolina Panthers could grab Moses late in round one and many think he won’t get past the Washington Redskins in the second frame.

- Another tackle the Washington Redskins are seriously interested in is Cameron Fleming (scouting report) of Stanford. Fleming has worked out for the Carolina Panthers as well as the Atlanta Falcons. He’s also completed a workout/visit for the Tennessee Titans. I’m told not only not only did Fleming score an impressive 33 on the wonderlic but one of the above mentioned teams gave him a 20 question quiz which he answered in less than one minute and scored 100%.

That characterization of Lawrence is quite poor. He may be somewhat of a tweener, but he makes up for that in other areas. He's very versatile, and played a number of different roles for Boise State. He also has a ton of strength to go with a number of different pass rushing moves. In addition, he hustles the whole game and generally has a big impact. To write him off as "too small for a DE, and too slow for an OLB" is ridiculous.

Verrett would be a great one. If he's on the board and Allen passes, there will be blood. Dude is an elite talent, probably the most talented DB in the draft. And why wouldn't he play much next year? He's miles above Porter.

Here we go again with the characterizations that in no way tell the whole story. Kouandijo's top end speed may not be there, but that's not the most important type of speed for an O-lineman. He's quick off the snap, and uses his athleticism beautifully in both run and pass blocking. His mobility is superb.

And Kouandijo's health issues are non-existent.

I agree. Verrett will start day one with any team that drafts him. Also, the only real negative on Verrett is his size. And I only see that affecting him playing the high point on a jump ball type of pass with a big elite receiver, but a big elite receiver would have an advantage over most NFL cornerbacks.

Any other perceived negative is a non-issue.

Ironically if you showed me this story any time from week...5 up till the recent reports of RG3 being 'back to his old self' I would have disregarded it. Kouandjio has had 2 years on it now without incident so I think its safe to say he should be fine going forward. Of course there's those pesky rumors of the Panthers and Dolphins targeting him in the first round.

Though I will say Moses [OT UVA] is probably still my first realistic choice (I mean who here wouldn't love to have Robinson [OT Auburn] or Matthews [OT A&M] fall to us at 34 lol).

Greg Robinson is a beast. Far and away the best offensive lineman in the draft, and one of only 3 players worth #1 overall, in my opinion. Khalil Mack and Teddy Bridgewater are the other two. Still haven't figured out why that Louisville QB has slid so far. Freaking ignore the dumba** workouts in shorts; watch the game film, and take in the Bridgewaterescence. Whoever drafts him will get a great franchise QB capable of carrying a team on and off the field and capable of winning multiple SBs. Any talk of Bortles going before this guy is asinine, not because it won't happen(it almost certainly will), but because of the notion that it brings with it, that Bortles is the better QB.

But, hey, what do I know? I'm just some random guy on the internet. :Smoker:

Here is my scouting report on Moses [OT UVA].
Absolutely celestial, heavenly finishing big man. Quicker than a jackrabbit on a hot date. So talented he could make an onion cry. The way he blocks is just an easy kiss home with the slickness of his gel.

Blocking style described as simplex. It’s a lovely word: simple and complicated at the same time, and that’s how Moses tends to play. When he fires off his stance at the point of attack he incites an eruption of solar proportions.

Final Grade: Demi-God
In all seriousness though the way he moves does have an easiness and fluidity to it. Almost effortless. He also has experience at Right Tackle which is certainly a plus. If I had to describe him in one sentence I'd say he's a slightly less talented version of Trent Williams. To clarify, basically a lot of the same general attributes with his quickness, power, size, etc but not better than Williams in any one of those categories save size (only 1 inch taller with arms that are a 1/2 inch longer [34 1/4 vs 34 3/4]).

Though if I had to put money on it I'd say the Redskins select Cameron Fleming [OT Stanford]. Aside from the rumors linking him to the team, he's the type of player that has a lot of the characteristics they're looking for, especially physically, but he's not so hot a commodity that they actually might have the option to trade down and still get him. I feel like all things being equal the current front office tries to trade down whenever possible, save of course of the RG3 trade.

In regards to Fleming [OT Stanford] though I actually just realized something funny. The guy is literally a rocket scientist.
