Under league rules, assistants on teams that win first-round playoff games this weekend can be interviewed for head coaching jobs next week. Such interviews must take place in the city in which the assistant works and the assistant’s current team has input as to when the interview takes place. Those assistants are not eligible to be interviewed a second time by the same team until their current team is eliminated from the playoffs or until a second-interview window opens later in the postseason. They cannot be hired by a team for a head coaching job with their current team still in the playoffs.
Ah thanks for the correction. I thought the interviewing in the same city thing only applied to those first round bye weeks. That's good then. Hope they get a lot of interviews in this week. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Dalton and perhaps Lewis with his job will take the fall for this one. But the entire game changed when Bernard fumbled the ball. If they go in and score there it's a different game. Still too early to give up on Dalton. I believe he's still in his mid 20's.

I'd rather have whisenhunt than the list above, look what he does with good qbs

This. He's the best available HC right now. Was disappointed to hear he's headed to Detroit or Tennessee. Definitely looking like our FO can't attract any A list coaches, which is a bummer. Jay Gruden won't do shit as an HC. Zimmer could be ok, but we need a great OC then to complete the package. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Skins could very well have a new HC by the end of the week thanks to that Cincy loss.
Ugh. Still better than Shanny, especially if it's Zimmer. Gruden is probably the guy tho. It'll be a nice first gig for him but too bad for Redskins nation. I was totally wrong thinking the quality HC prospects would take a hard look at DC. Maybe there is more to the controversy around Snyder and/or RG than previously thought. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Why do you say that?
He isn't interested in DC. Detroit and Tennessee, but I think it'll be Detroit like someone else said. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Wisenhunt is going to Detroit. Stafford, Megatron with Reggie Bush and a solid Oline...talented Dline...that is the next best gig.
Not really all that excited about Jay Gruden. |

What's up Goat ? Has KW , actually said he is not interested in DC ? If so , that would suck . |

Announcers said during the game he's looking at Detroit and Tennessee. No mention of DC. Those guys seem to have pretty good idea of the inside story. |

Apparently gruden is the top choice is what the latest word is online anyway

What is so great about whisenhunt?

You got me. Nothing that says he's head and shoulders above anyone else that's for sure. |

Guy knows offense and the fact that he has helped rivers so much this yr deserves notice |

Well.....he had one season over .500....that's good right? |

Not really all that excited about Jay Gruden.
And possibly salary cap issues. 45 Million between 3 players. |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Gruden and Zimmer are quality candidates.
Zimmer's guys play their asses off, which indicates he's a leader and not just a great defensive mind. Bengals have the 5th overall defense and really set the tone for the whole team. Hard to say what Zimmer will bring to the table on offense and an OC, which is my biggest concern and why he's probably a 2nd tier type HC prospect. Gruden has no business getting an HC gig though. His play-calling is uninspiring, he shows nothing on the sidelines, and a drunk driver is the last thing the undisciplined guys need in a leader. Better than Mike and Kyle? Probably. But my hope with Jay would be some kind of agreement that his brother will come in after him, probably after two subpar seasons. Given how little interest we've garnered from A list prospects I'm wondering if out next HC will just be a placeholder type. |

There was no candidate that was head and shoulders above the rest. The only real difference is some have head coaching experience and some don’t. |

HC experience and what he's done with a struggling Rivers and SD offense. He's easily the best coordinator and HC prospect seen this wknd. Gruden is the worst of the wknd. He's probably the guy no other franchise wants (haven't heard him linked to any other franchise) and with BA's link to Jon it's probably like a favor to Jay. Do you think Jon could be testing us out through Jay though? |

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Was today the first time you ever watched the Bengals ?
No I've been a huge Maualuga fan and kept on eye on Cinci. Like I said that defense sets the tone for the whole team. Offense has some amazing weapons and Greens natural ability to make plays and green Ellis hard running is the core of the offense. Nothing special about them otherwise. On a side nite chad rinehardt is a bruising guard the Chargers were smart to grab him. |

He's the only candidate who could conceivably hold a candle to shanahan. All the other candidates everyone's salivating over are sh!t. I think 2 years from everyone will be wishing we had kept him. |

What? |
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Honestly Ken Whisenhunt.
|
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
Based off the new rumors how does this sound...
Jay Gruden= HC James Franklin=OC Assistant HC/ Oline= Russ Grimm- I know if Ken goes to Detriot this won't happen but so what! Lol DC=Raheem Morris or Greg Williams. |

Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
So Whisenhunt has HC experience. That's great. We just fired a guy with twice as much. And what has Wiz done without Warner?
|
Re: Who Do You Want to Be The Head Coach?
^ He won a playoff game today. Against a team with three other Redskins HC candidates.

If you're seriously holding a DUI from 8 years ago over his head as a reason not to hire him, I'd say do some more homework. |

C'mon chotchi, I'm asking a serious question. Try to give a serious answer. Why is Gruden a good HC prospect? |
