That would mean hiring the NFL's best and brightest to come here and work for Dan Snyder.
I have better odds that Bruce Allen wins exec. of the year before that happening.
I could swear NBC channel 4 in DC said Haskins is starting Sunday, if I'm wrong I apologize. |
Re: The Haskins Thread
Haskins did ok in the Uber-conservative play calling. I understand not wanting to get Haskins any INT this game after the last two disasters. But let him try for something longer occasionally to build confidence, open up the defense and score a real TD.
Finally, stop talking about Keenum starting again. It’s over for him - there is absolutely ZERO benefit to Case or Colt playing the rest of the season. We need to see what Haskins has by the end of this season. Then we need to be aggressive in FA, get rid of all the FA DEAD wood -Richardson, Moses, Norman, Davis , definitely maybe even Kerrigan. Trade any of them for draft picks. Build from the draft and FA - with the 3rd pick in the draft they need to superstar player. I hope it is Chase Young - a monster edge player will make our pass rush fierce!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: The Haskins Threat
At least we saw some over all improvement. His footwork was improved, but I did catch him throwing a screen pass side armed off his back foot while leaning backward. I was like "what the hell was that?." There wasn't a defender within a country mile of him and no one near the receiver.

Re: The Haskins Threat
He avoided mistakes well but made no plays. I'm not sure what I would have expected from even Cousins with this surrounding cast playing against that defense.
The only thing I could really hold against Haskins in this start was holding the ball too long in spots. He needed to throw it away instead of taking a few sacks. It's not a small thing though, throwing those balls away maybe helps sustain a few drives instead of taking drive-killing sacks. Still, his command looked better. |

Re: The Haskins Threat
That wheel route-ish to P Rich in the endzone against tight coverage was perfect. Its ashamed P Rich couldn't haul it in, just got one hand on it.
|
Re: The Haskins Threat
He played "OK" but what I don't like is all of the talk about how he stepped up his game prep this week. He should have been doing all of this while he was sitting on the bench and learning the play book.

He's 21 or 22 years old and hasn't fully matured obviously. |
Re: The Haskins Threat
Hopefully the we can see some progression of pushing the ball downfield.
I think we need to temper expectation of having Haskins just come and ball. Look at the supporting cast: P Rich and Terry are really your ONLY proven pass catchers. They have NOTHING at TE, they have an extremely slow Slot WR, and AP is not a natural pass catcher out the back field. CT injured. Harmon and Sims both play like rookies. We are really limited with weapons |

Just because he's our most steady and reliable option doesn't mean he will be perfect from here on out. I pretty much agree with everything else you said. Sprinkle is the literal definition of a JAG. The continued absence of Reed and Davis is a big fat F on the front office for failing to adequately prepare. Richardson will never succeed as long as they have him running <10 yard routes every game. |

He looked better than everyone expected, which is something. I have no idea why he hasn't been playing. |
Re: The Haskins Threat
I don’t know why anyone is surprised he looked better?
Golly gee Jay smoking 🚬 spliffs in Georgetown never prepared Haskins to play because he didn’t want him in the first place. Of course Haskins looked better when he actually gets to practice with his game day teammates and gets coached. 🙄 |
Re: The Haskins Threat
I don't know what all the hesitation and hand wringing was about with Haskins. He should have been starting weeks ago. It's just hilarious that a 1-8 team is seemingly unwilling to admit the season is over and it's time to start evaluating for next year. The fact Callahan won't commit publically to Haskins is frustrating beyond belief.

I agree with you 100%. Haskins should have been playing weeks ago. I think a lot of this slow playing of Haskins is a reaction by the organization to the perceived "rushing" of RG3 to starting QB and subsequent injuries. They want to appear like they learned their lesson from RG3 and wont make the same mistake of rushing Haskins when he may not be ready. |

I don't understand it at all as well.. I hope Haskins will be able to shake off this year and start fresh with a new coach next year. I can imagine how things would look bleak for a 22 years old guy who thought he achieved a dream by playing in NFL, only to realize that your coaches have little to no faith in you. Snyder strikes again.. At least that's something we can always count on. |

Actually I think Shanahans did right by RG3 - Mike and Kyle tailored the offense to RG3's strengths. The big issue was Snyder fell in love with RG3 and then allowed RG3 to develop a big ego, big enough to believe that he can override Mike's decisions.. Meanwhile, Haskins have coaches who think Haskins still have long ways to go and will not tailor the offense to Haskins's strengths. |
Re: The Haskins Threat
The only reason they don't commit to Haskins has to be this completely ridiculous belief the team is "close" and still can make a run with a more experienced QB at the helm.
The awareness by the org is amazingly poor...Snyder really needs to seek some outside help to advise him. I fucking cant believe after 20 years he has these same blind spots which appear to be getting bigger. WTF man...look around the league, look around at the coverage of the team, look around at your half empty stadium. wake up |

Agree. Had RG3 and Snyder let Shanny continue to do what he was doing with RG3 I think he'd have become the super star he looked like he could be. IMO the coaches are being told how to handle Haskins. More meddling from above but this time instead of moving quickly they are moving too slowly. |

Sure, why not. Can you even have an extra practice in today's NFL? Teams are supposed to be limited to 14 total padded practices for the entire regular season, with 11 coming in the first 11 weeks. (2011 rules) So we are doing extra stretches, walk throughs and non contact non pad practices ... cool. is Case still in protocol? I hope Haskins is getting the lions share of reps. I kinda thought maybe the "were close" thing has been over blown by the fan base. Sure Bruce said it in his once every 5 years 12 min press conference but I didnt appreciate just how much "were close" truly seems to be a FO belief until I heard Callahans presser the other day and he just kept laying it on, they were hanging with really good teams and just have to find a way to close out. |

No they are really not though...they haven't scored a TD in 3 games. Just because Callahan is purposely shorten games, doesn't mean we are close. San Fran woulda killed us if it wasn't for rain...we got shut out there (I believe) |

The lack of play action or any creativity shows you that they are just trying to learn to tie their own shoes right now. |

At this point, I don't hate on anyone for selling their tickets. This team is the worst I've seen in my 38 years (at least that I can remember). It's also shocking considering how much defensive talent we have.

Has he though? He has 8 sacks with 4.5 coming in the first 3 games (3 in week 3 vs denver). 70.6 PFF grade. Is he worth 4yr/52M? GB can get out of the contract in 2021 but they would have committed 27.5M for 2 years (this includes 8M in dead cap). I have watched like 3 GB games and I saw the Denver game and he was disruptive .. other games he was not. Certainly compared to Kerrigan (3 sacks, 56.7 PFF, cap hit of 11M), Id rather pay Preston but that ship has sailed ... should have traded Kerrigan and resigned Preston ... or trade Kerrigan and let Preston walk. Preston is like a B player for me, above average but has to be right player, right price imo. I think signing Landon Collins negated Preston's 3R comp pick to us? |
