Cheap? $18m guaranteed. Given Wentz confidence then bringing in veteran competition is almost guaranteed to make that trade a failure, its a bit touch and go as it is
Should we take a shot on baker? He maybe cheap and have a competition between him and Wentz
If we bring another quarterback, it should be a mid/late round rookie. No need to bring another veteran QB.

lol Baker isn't coming here to compete for a job.

Plus you don't give up picks for Wentz and then throw him into a competition.

Ron made it clear that Wentz is QB1 for the forcible future in his presser

It'll be interesting to see if Seattle is interested in him. If not nor Detroit, who knows? The rest of his career should be interesting considering his background and Cleveland sudden's divorce from him.

Let Watson live his life.

And hopefully Baker finds a spot where he can become the franchise QB.
I don't have a good read on Mayfield but I don't think he is a franchise QB.
Hopefully he lands in a good spot so we can see what he can do.

I agree, I don’t think Baker is a franchise QB…that Browns team is/was pretty loaded on offense: Great RBs, Great Oline, decent TE group…Odell and Landry WR.

Defense not terrible

Either Baker or bad coaching…

I'd put BM in the top 15-20 range. He had an excellent 2020 season (10th in QBR) but really fell off last year due to injuries.

Well you had several people like Aikman and Phil Simms making fun of the offensive play calling with the Browns last year, saying it was like high school plays...is that the coach...or the coach not trusting Baker? Guess we'll find out when Watson takes over. It felt at times Baker was a gamer...but odds are he's not going to be anything special.

If I'm a QB desperate team like the Panther, Seattle, Detroit, or New Orleans, I would rather have him over Jimmy G and his bum shoulder, or even Jameis. I guess it depends of what the compensation is going to look like for Baker.

Re: Free Agency Around the NFL Style

Mayfield played on a bum shoulder last year leading to the poor season. He got surgery to resolve it in January. He was much better prior to last year when healthy and nearly beat KC in the playoffs. Don't think the kid is the next Marino, but I would definitely not write him off yet.

Carolina is a crapshoot. Nothing would surprise me with the qb position and them. They were the only team to really give Darnold a chance.

If I'm a QB with options, I'm not going to Carolina. Matt Rhule's days are counted, and he'd likely be fired at the end of this season, unless he pulls a miracle.

Pretty surprised he didn't jump back into college. Strong rumors of him going to Michigan if Harbaugh was done there.

Baker is inconsistent. Like on a year to year basis. Yeah he dealt with injuries but also you gotta deal with his immaturity.

Well the Browns put themselves in a position where they can't demand much for Baker. Teams have to know that Cleveland can't keep him now that they have Watson.

3 year deal
Base value of 42 million
Worth up to 47 million with incentives
14 million APY

I'd be surprised if it is even that high. Many of the teams chasing free agents already have their guy. My guess is Cleveland will have to eat a lot of that contract too

Buffalo came across as complete clowns. The first 48 hour tamper window allows for for negotiations and nothing is final until that period ends and free agency begins where contracts can then be signed. This is for the benefit of the players to set their value

For Buffalo to think during this tamp window that deals were officially closed…that’s on them for being that naïve. That’s big time weak

Carolina isn't interested in Baker either:

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/03/22/panthers-reportedly-arent-interested-in-baker-mayfield/

Starting to think Cleveland may have to outright release him or get maybe a super late rd pick if any team is interested. Most teams have their qbs now. Also, what is Carolina's plan at qb now? Darnold, draft? Still think we could get an excellent haul for our #11 from some team.

I would be interested, honestly, if we didn't land Wentz as I think the kid has talent still. I'd strongly prefer Wentz though.

Another blockbuster coming? Despite an offer from the #Chiefs that would make superstar Tyreek Hill one of the highest-paid receivers, extension talks have stalled and Kansas City has now given Hill’s agent permission to seek a trade, sources tell me and @TomPelissero.

@AdamSchefter
Jets and Dolphins are in serious talks to trade for Chiefs’ WR Tyreek Hill, per league sources. Hill and Chiefs are mulling what to do but Hill’s time in KC looks like it could be coming to an end.

Hill was a huge reason they won the SB converting the 4th and long. Few players have his skill set, production, and talent. This is surprising to me and think he may get scooped up quickly.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling reportedly now visiting KC giving the Hill-KC divorce more momentum. Valdes-Scantling is fast but he's not Hill. It'll be interesting to see what KC lands for Hill assuming it goes through.
