Re: Ron Rivera

In theory I agree, but I heard the cost if he is fired is too much for the organization to pay and then pay a new coach. They can obviously do it financially it is not that dire but it is another financial burden in an organization rife with them.

Re: Ron Rivera

I don't think Ron would get canned no matter what the record is this year.

I do think however he could step down if he's just fed up with this shit.

I feel like three straight seasons with a losing record, with the team regressing in year three, is enough for him not to be back, whether he is fired or resigns.

All Snyder needs to do to be able to fire Rivera & Co. is to take less out of the business for himself. He already owns the grandest estate in the state of Virginia, a huge, luxurious yacht, personal aircraft and many other extremely expensive things.

I don't know, maybe the writer knows what he's talking about. Snyder may have already taken on so much personal debt that it's no longer possible for him to fix the on-field product. I hope the other owners vote him out.

He would never do that. I don't know the deal for the 400 million loan he took out to buy out minority owners but paying that back and maintaining his lifestyle might be enough on his plate?

No way Ron resigns. Wouldn't he give up his remaining two years on his contract? 14 million? Not happening. He probably wants Dan to fire him. Imagine getting 14 mill to walk away from this franchise. That'll be a great day in the Riveria household.

Yeah Ron ain't going anywhere haha, no chance he quits. It's not just about $ it's about his ego. He would rather get fired than quit like 99% of NFL coaches

After 3 tumultuous years .. the players still buy in to him.

For three weeks straight he has won on game day. I don't question that. For me, when it comes to head coaches and quarterbacks it's all about getting the W.

Should be 4 in a row!!

Run Robinson on the goal line and we beat TN......Robinson may not be an explosive rb, but he would have gotten us that td!

Re: Ron Rivera
Maybe it will be 4 in a row after this week...
So, we're not a great team by any stretch, but the reality is that the Titans and Lions games were winnable. A few bounces going our way, and we could have been 6-2 instead of 4-4. Of course, we had squeakers against the Bears, Packers and Colts, so we could also be 1-7. It's concerning that none of our wins are against quality opponents (I don't think the Packers qualify as such at the moment).

I still think it's going to be hard for this team to tack on a bunch more wins. The Vikings and Eagles are up next, followed by the Texans, the surprisingly decent Falcons, the Giants (twice), the 49ers, the Browns, and the Cowboys. We'll probably be favored against the Texans but that's about it, and it wouldn't be shocking (although it would be bitterly disappointing) if we won just 1 more game this season (or perhaps 2). 3-4 more wins would have to count as a pleasant surprise, and anything more than that would be shocking (to me, at least).

Prove me wrong, Commanders -- beat the Vikings this week and I'll revise everything I've said.

Re: Ron Rivera

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath, but they could beat the Vikings. Crazier things have happened. The defense is playing well. If they are able to run the ball, get a couple turnovers and TH doesn't throw a floater into quadruple coverage off his back foot more than a couple times - who knows?

Re: Ron Rivera

How is Chase Claypool worth more than Roquan Smith? Maybe I am old fashioned but if you are trying to build a team having an All Pro MLB to build a defence around would seem to be the best place to start.

Maybe Cousins will throw one of those endzone picks he was so fond of in Washington. Or more than one. I do think turnovers will be key here -- we'll need a decided advantage in that category to have any chance to keep pace with the Vikings.

Do you think the new / potential owner(ship) will keep Ron Rivera?

I'm 50 - 50 on it because I think that part of the new ownership job will be erasing / changing everything that has / had to do with Dan, and Ron is for sure a Dan guy.

I could see them letting him go at the end of the 2023 season....

It will be results driven as it should be. He's probably almost guaranteed to be here through next year if this is really going down, and if the team is competing for the Division, and we have a QB of the future, there would be no reason to get rid of him.

If the team is trending towards another mediocre 7-8 win season and still no QB...then he's out.

It depends on results as someone has already said. I'm also curious to see what anyone (FO, coaching, etc., etc.) can do without having Danny meddling.

Re: Ron Rivera

New owner likely means wholesale changes throughout the org.

Let's say it takes 6 months before a sale is finalized, we would be well into the spring and too late to make any significant changes to the football ops for 2023, including Ron. After 2023 though...

Re: Ron Rivera

Time to throw a little appreciation towards coach Ron. Gotta give him credit his teams never quit on him. We've seen his teams battle back from slow starts multiple times now.

Took a while but they are finding their identity for this season. At the start of the season you could tell they wanted to be a wide open attack down the field type of offense, now they're back to ground and pound and playing good D. Ain't sexy but you can win plenty of games with that formula.

GridIron26 11-16-2022 09:46 AM

Re: Ron Rivera

For sure. Rivera is not one of the best coaches but he is definitely one of a few coaches who will prevent the team from going to rock bottom, unlike Zorn and Gruden.

With that OL lack of pass protection, running game is a no brainer. Will Turner stick to it? That is the question.

They're averaging 28.8 rush attempts per game (8th overall), and in the last 3 games it's up to 35.7 attempts per game (4th overall). Clearly a commitment to the run is there and has only increased as of late. They're also leading the league in time of possession with 32:30 min per game.

Whatever Dan Snyder is paying Ron Rivera it's not enough.
Team is winning, focus is on them, not the owner's investigations/lawsuits/misbehavior/mess.

I cant ignore GM Ron. Wentz, Jackson, etc. Good pick up with BR. The team didn’t throw in the towel when they could have, but I just cant shake the feeling that Ron is along for the ride. Our D line is coming of age, and we are catering to our strength on O which is the run.
Dare I say winning in spite of him?

Im not eating crow yet. Lol
