We don’t need Toohill and JSW to be game wreckers, just play within the scheme. They’re both solid enough to hold things down. Don’t underestimate hungry players either. This is a big chance for both of them.

I think Toohill has already shown enough to be signed to a solid contract. At worst he's a great No. 3, rotational option.

Smith-Williams was already part of the front four that generates the most pass success. Toohill has looked solid. I will not be surprised if the DL plays better. That is relative of course but wouldn't surprise me.

Maybe we will have improved the defensive line by subtraction, while also adding building blocks for the future at the same time. Wouldn't that be something...?

Yes it would be. I don’t think the current backups are going to have as much an impact as these guys did as backups. Sweat is a big loss. This defense was already bad and it is going to be worse now. If we are winning any more games this year it will be because of our offense.
