I'm sorry, has Newton never played football before? That's simply inexcusable. Like you can't be on the field on 3rd/4th less than 5 if you literally jump offsides on the very 1st fake snap.

If he caught the ball standing up instead of coming towards it and taking a knee, he easily had it. Ertz fucked up because he's absolutely useless with the ball in his hands. Fucking clueless move from a veteran.
That was a rough game for sure... bad way to end it and a blown first down by ertz.
Eagles fans called him no yac zac. Its obvious why. He literally cannot get an inch by just falling forward. Dude probably has negative yac. Absolutely need a dynamic TE, another WR, and help on the Oline. Obviously help on D. Also a new stadium. Its ok though way better than I thought we would be.

Disappointed, but not disheartened. It's a game of inches, and we missed them all over the field. Just be better next game.

He caught that ball ahead of the chain, came behind it, and took a knee.

I wish he was No Yac Zach. He's actually run backwards yac Zach. What a fucking idiot.

Plenty of blame to go around. Newton just happened to go last. We have zero playmakers at TE or WR outside of McLaurin or N. Brown.

You can't beat cocksucking teams like the Steelers when you make 10+ mistakes.

No. 14 needs to stop taking cumshots off of his face.

This is really awkward when you do this. And it's not every week, but when it is that week, you do this like 10 times a game. Can we lose this one?
Left too many plays out there.

BSJ and Newton were special today.
The difference was Ertz's dropped pass, which would've resulted in a first down. Instead, his dropped forced a third and long and we had to settle for a FG. If we keep the drive alive then we potentially score a TD. The drive in which Daniels missed Zaccheus for a big play resulted in a punt. The last missed play was the one to McCaffrey which resulted also resulted in a punt. In close games, plays missed can come back to rear its head.

Their fans always make their way into stadiums. They probably had 10,000-12,000 fans in the stadium , but that can seem like a lot when the team is winning as they're the ONLY fans cheering.

Missed plays happen.
BST letting Williams run free and newton jumping offsides were a special kind of screwup that just can’t happen.

I simply can't watch Juste anymore. I have better hand-eye coordination than he does. Lattimore can't get healthy fast enough. I'm keeping every other DB in the same rotation and simply replacing Juste with Lattimore. Juste can ride pine the rest of the season.

If he'd stayed on 2 feet and just leaned back its a 1st down. But I'm not putting that on any one player. There were good plays and bad plays all round. Just hoping Lattimore is ready to go Thursday. BSJ won't be able to cover Brown. Beat teh Eagles and we still control our own destiny in the East.

Steelees fans are a plague on society. They seemingly have 225 million fans equally distributed around the country.

BSJ can't cover anyone. We're fucked if Lattimore can't play against the Eagles.

They'll just rotate Smith and Brown to wherever Juste is and both roast the fuck out of that trashcan.

Ertz caught the ball beyond the marker as forward progress dictated.

there were 10 plays or so that could have flipped this one. lots of dropped passes, muff, missing the 1st, offsides etc. OL had some trouble today and the production really suffered. We were in it basically till the end though.

as fasr as BSJ - you're going to bench him for who? forbes? davis? he's not in there cause he's good. he's in there because everyone behind him is a donkey. Even with Lattimore back, he'll still be playing a lot of snaps (just not against #1 WRs).

AnonEmouse 11-10-2024 07:52 PM

Re: Commander vs. Steelers GameDay Thread

Yeah, BSJ isn't going anywhere this side of FA or even the draft. With Lattimore on the field he'll be on the #2 WR and who knows, he may play better with the pressure off, so to speak. Even with Lattimore here, a CB is a priority in the draft, but we have to live with the roster we have for now.

I watched the game today in a sports bar in Palo Alto, California. 3/4 of the place were in Steelers jerseys waving towels and ringing cowbells whenever they got a first down. Chatted with the folks at the next table - super nice, actually. They haven’t had a losing season in 18 years. That will get you lots of fans everywhere.

Jd5 without brob is a issue

calia 11-10-2024 09:22 PM

Re: Commander vs. Steelers GameDay Thread

I think Wylie being out was a bigger issue. They had to constantly chip Watt AND slide over extra help and that just takes away from what you can otherwise do on offense. Wylie still would have needed help, but probably not quite as much as Scott. And I’m not second guessing the added help - JD5 would have lost his spleen today without it. But BRob and Wylie going out (and Lucas being out) is a lot to overcome against a team like Pittsburgh.

A strong running game is a QB's best friend. I was pretty surprised that Rodriguez didn't get much action today.

But the blocking was either great or a huge missed assignment that set us back multiple yards. Negative plays are such a killer. Especially with a rookie QB against a very good defense.

Yeah that helps with the fan base. Thing is, Pittsburgh hasn’t won a Superbowl since 2008, last appearing in 2010 where they lost to Aaron Rodgers. Steelers haven’t had a playoff win since 2016. They have 6 of their division games left and the Chiefs and Eagles. We’ll see how they finish and how they fare in the tough afc playoffs. Russell did just enough but he didn’t look great today.

Dan Snyder’s era destroyed the fan base. It’s going take a few years of success for things to get back to Gibbs 1 days. We are off to a good start. Baring a complete collapse, playoffs still seems likely. For year 1 of rebuild, looking good.
