That's tough when the dream is only 15 seconds.

People using speaker phone in the office or anywhere in public for that matter. There is a lady in our office that talks on speaker phone and when she is not doing that she is texting and every text she gets the phone beeps. Finally I went over and ask if I could shut her door. I guess she didn't take the hint as she back at it again today.

I've always had my own office but I'm now renting a space at a Realtors office. While I'm self employed I now have to put up with the women in this office. They yack all day long. Then you have the one who is 150 pounds over weight who yacks about her diabetes while shoving cake down her throat while sucking down a soda. Then the other lady about every 5 minutes is saying stuff out loud like "OH MY" "OH ME" and about another 20 things. Ok those are my office rants for the day.

I recently saw a tip jar inside a gas station. And this wasn't the 1st time.

It’s crazy town with the tipping.

I was out at a nice restaurant in the city couple weeks ago and grabbed a down makers at the bar prior to being seated. Got the bill and I don’t believe there wasn’t an option not to tip as it was a down through a merchant services electronic device.

It’s pressured as well, people hand it too you and just stare directly at you like come on man, hurry up and give me some extra money

I listened to a podcast about the upcoming AI bubble. Basically these companies have been spending money and have millions of chips that are going to be obsolete before they even get used so very little revenue coming in. Eventually the bubble will burst, hopefully sooner rather than later for the sake of my IRA, 403B and pension

Yes and no, in terms of scientific research and development it will be a game changer. In terms of job displacement, misinformation and abuse, definitely a big concern.

I think our biggest and earliest opportunity is the heath care industry. Personal care, research and administrative. It can hit every level hard.

The best way to reduced healthcare cost is a path of AI, not politicians.

So it’s a race and the sheer amount of money being put in by Amazon, meta, Microsoft, alphabet…Oracle etc is insane especially now with rates now falling as inflation has cooled. The big boys will be fine as they cash rich, people will lose their shirt and make money on the start ups. And former will be norm.

I get it, it’s frustrating for sure. But don’t look at the opportunity to tip as an obligation. If anything be mad at the company for not paying them enough and asking for the customer to subsidize their wages.

sdskinsfan2001 12-23-2025 11:06 AM

Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?

The classic U.S. restaurant debate. You will be subsidizing their wages with tips or higher costs for the cup of coffee. Kind of a rock and a hard place type thing. But then if you make the price of a plain black coffee to like 5 bucks, people might just stop coming in altogether, and the place will close. Without tips, there is a good chance lots of places are closing down, and likely the more small/local places.

Fast-food restaurants and food-trucks. I get everything is still very expensive so prices won't be cheap.

But my little community has food-trucks on Tuesdays. They are charging $21.00 for like 8 shrimp and French Fries tonight.

Then there is a little dessert stand by the truck asking $10 for a piece of poundcake.

A total joke. I can go to an actual restaurant for that price.

Sadly with a war going on mainly US-Iran not just Israel-Pakistan or Ukraine-Russia that the prices are up. Sadly it is a total joke.
