Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Kirk was ballin' out there today. IMO, it was a big sign of his growth that we saw "gunslinger Kirk" without the turnovers that would come with it in the past.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
I'm sold on kirk and this offense. I'm sold on gruden and Mcvay as well. I'm drinking all the kool-aid.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
I have been real harsh on him this week, I have realized KC is just another guy, Rex Grossman, JC, Todd Collins, etc. He has a very AVG arm which I thought was much stronger than it was, he makes incredibly bad decisions, I'm talking freshman QB in college mistakes... The last 3 INTS he has thrown have been as bad as I've seen in the nfl in years.. Jon Gruden spoke about him today and basically said the skins are very limited on offense due to Kirk, I'm sure he is backing his bro a bit but he is right.
Thank god I was wrong and kirk has made me eat my crow but it's a delicious crow |
Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Its refreshing to me to see that so far I have been right about Kirk, and the announcers basically said the same thing i did - that as soon as Kirk was reassured that he wasn't going to be benched after a couple of bad games or a bad throw, that you could really see him grow and excel. ALL QB's have good and bad games, good and bad stretches for the most part. Manning is an all time great but he has sucked this year and if it were anyone but him, they would have benched him.
I think Kirk is the guy, he is our franchise QB, that we have sorely lacked since basically Snyder took over. We now need to help him out by building around him... |

My new signature. You like that?

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Felt like it really became his team yesterday, with the crowd chanting "you like that", and a big home win in December. A win next week is the feather in the cap.

Best part about this season...it came out of nowhere. back in August no one had us in this position at this point in the season. I remember PTF had an article laughing about the Skins team, the fans and the organization as a whole I think it was in September. U LIKE THAT! |
Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Before the season every and I mean every prediction had the skins last in the east and most had us with a top 3 pick. I said 7-9 would be a good yr but obviously we r better than that and it's because of kirk, he's really starting to turn heads

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Being right? I like that! I was on a KC could be the next Drew Brees kick months ago and notice the stats below. After 3 FULL SEASONS as a starter, many thought Brees was a bust, including his own team who went out and drafted Philip Rivers to replace him. Yes, Brees is having a down year by his standards, but KC is ascending and can (should) still get better. He still only has 23 starts under his belt and hasn't had a single off-season and training camp as the undisputed starter.
Drew Brees 3,794 yards 25TDs 11INTs 67% Cousins 3,625 yards 22TDs 11INTs 69% (also has 5 rushing TDs) Both have a 97 passer rating. |

It's a week to week league. If KC throws a couple picks and we lose next week, it will be "fire Gruden and who's the top qb in the draft!" |
Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
My preseason take on Cousins:
He is a classic Gruden QB. Technically sound but overwhelmingly mediocre. He will look great when things are perfect. When the play call matches the defense, when the primary read is open, when he gets great protection and most importantly, when he is playing with the lead. When any of those break down however, so does he...quickly. Ask him to perform at a high level over a period of time and you will be disappointed. He is too careless with the ball, too pre-determined with where the ball will go and doesn't rally from adversity well. If he starts all 16 games, he will probably put up good numbers on paper.. 3200 or so yards, 5 or 6 300 yard games, probably 18-24 TD with 14-18 INT.. The reality however will probably result in a 3-5 win season and fans hoping 'that he can put it all together with a full offseason of being the starter'. Ultimately Cousins is fools gold.
So looking back at where I was at the beginning of the season and where I am now, Cousins has moved the needle for me. I am no longer of the mindset that he is a backup/fringe starter. I think he's a bonafide starting QB in the category 12-18 range in comparison with his peers. He's not a star but he's also not a weekly liability. Obviously he should be back on a 2-3 year extension and QB isn't at the top of our draft board which is good. He's protected the ball better than I thought he could, which was a major concern going into the season. He has benefitted from some luck on a few head scratchers (like the late play against the Bears into triple coverage that Jones caught off the deflection) but for the most part he's not been overly careless. He does check the ball down too quickly but hopefully that changes with experience and time in the offense. This offseason should be good for him to continue to develop & have McCloughan surround him with a better running game and a bigger WR to replace Garcon. Arrow pointing up. |

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
Things sure have changed around here regarding KC lol. In the end it's not about who was right or wrong. It's just good to see stability at the QB position, w/out any week to week drama. It looks like we'll have that for the next several years.

Re: Who is Kirk Cousins?
The guy is breaking all kinds of Redskins records and his stats are through the roof and people still hating and not believing??!!
Hope he breaks RG3's rushing TD record too. |
