Damn looks like Lake is running for Senate (Was hoping she'd get the VP nod). AZ is going to be an easy Senate win for my party. Wanted a conservative, but unfortunately Lake will almost certainly win the primary. Lake is going to be the next Senator.

Kari Lake's 3rd trial to begin after unsuccessful lawsuit challenging her loss in governor’s race

PHOENIX (AP) — Kari Lake, the Republican who unsuccessfully challenged her defeat in the 2022 Arizona governor’s race, is headed to another trial Thursday in a separate lawsuit, this time asking to review ballot envelopes signed by approximately 1.3 million early voters in the state’s most populous county.

This is about time. It is absurd to allow asylum seekers into the country and then not allow them to work so they sit there and rely on government assistance. Let them contribute and pay taxes it also makes it easier to track and identify individuals. Seems like a no brainer.

https://news.yahoo.com/arizona-republican-kari-lake-expected-191243962.html

Arizona Republican Kari Lake expected to launch Senate bid as soon as next month

Lake’s entrance would further scrambles a contest for the seat held by Sen. Kyrsten Sinem, which could end up as a three-way general election. Sinema switched her party affiliation from Democratic to independent in December, and progressive Rep. Ruben Gallego entered the Democratic primary in January. Sinema has not yet publicly said whether she will run for reelection.

A former Arizona television journalist, Lake has built her political image – and her 2022 campaign for governor – around her support for Trump’s false claims about extensive election fraud in the 2020 presidential election. She has become a fixture in Trump’s orbit since losing her gubernatorial bid.

She has also claimed, without proof, that she won her election last fall against Democrat Katie Hobbs, the state’s current governor. Lake has lost a series of legal battles seeking to overturn the result of that election, which she lost by more than 17,000 votes.

Well that is the problem. By going independent (Dems were going to primary her because she is a moderate), Sinema basically gave the Dems a choice to either support her or give the seat to the GOP. Dems understood that, but they decided they'd rather give the seat to the GOP than have Sinema win (Which would have been fine with me if it wasn't Lake).

I was being juvenile about the article stating "Sinema in a three way" but I do agree with you and it is a fundamental flaw of the current political and societal system where if you are not 100% invested into your tribe you might as well be 0%. IMO I think Dems overestimate their popularity and aren't willing to see the forest for the trees. Republicans in particular their base are in a dysphoric tailspin. I am assuming AZ doesn't have open primaries?

Independents can choose which party primary to vote in. That said won't really matter as the Dems will nominate a far lefty in Gallego and the GOP will nominate populist nutcase Lake, with Sinema as the indie. Lake will get about 45%, Gallego 30-40% and Sinema 15-25%.

For Fact’s Sake: The president does not set the price of gas

Republican presidential candidate and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis fed his supporters a false promise: that he would deliver $2 gas if he wins in 2024. For Fact’s Sake, Ali Velshi explains why the president of this country does not have the power to tip the scales of the global oil market. No matter how much Ron DeSantis cries "woke" over President Joe Biden’s energy policy, $2 gas isn’t going to happen just because he says so.

Energy policy can and does effect the price of gas. Biden's anti domestic petroleum policies were one of the key factors in driving up the cost of gas and inflation as a whole over the past three years.

Exactly

Biden actually went to Saudi Arabia and asked for them to increase production while working to limit production, exploration and shut down all federal land here in the country. It’s retard level thinking

G1 just yells bullshit without ever understanding policy or referencing policy.

You know what they say Alabama third time is a charm. So the state has taken the exact same congressional map to the US Supreme Court twice in between they held a federal election with these illegal congressional maps and guess what? Those people are serving in congress, getting paid and making laws that govern all of us. What is Alabama's rationale to even comply if they are allowed to just ignore court rulings and have elections?

Because Trump and MAGA have corrupted the party. That said given historical patterns the Dems wouldn't be calling on Menendez to resign if the modern GOP didn't find itself in the situation with Santos and Trump that they are in. (Dems don't want to undermine their actions against the more important GOP criminal elements by supporting their own criminals which given historical patterns they would have done - ie Ted Kennedy).
