Re: When is Enough ,Enough?
I wish more conservatives posted here. Chico and me might agree on a lot of things in theory, but his method of discussion and mine don't match. Not a bad thing, just the truth. CRed is the most pragmatic of the 3 of us, but he's smarter than me, so he only post politically occasionally.
I know there are more than 3 conservatives on this site. But it's an uphill battle, so I get why you wouldn't post anything. Whether I'm 100% telling the truth or 100% full of shit, no matter what I post, I'll be arguing against 10 other people. It's tough. Note - It's not anyone's fault that is to the left of me. There are more liberals on this site than conservatives. But I think a larger % of conservatives here know they gain nothing from participating in the political threads. |

Sorry I don't buy it, I'm a republican and voted Bush but when he abdicated and turned it over the the evil lord Cheney I was pissed . I liked McCain and was all for him till he brought in Palin then I was thinking WTF is wrong with him???? I voted Obama twice and was disgusted with the treatment his family got by republicains . The republicains turned to trump , ....are you fucking serious????? I wanted Kasich , hell he should of run this time as a republican option. Policy is one thing but trump breeds hate and always has and if you support trump you do to , like someone else said, not all republicans are racist but all racist support trump! Just look at the way he is acting now, you have stuck up for him as has chico and Cred , you think by saying he is a an ass but I like this policy it's ok , BS there is no separating trump from the man and the policies ..............none. We need better candidates and right now the Dems are head and shoulders above republicans if the best republicans can do is trump. |

Do you honestly think he has any concerns over age discrepancies with sex or what anybody did prior to someone becoming President or Vice President? Or whether they have tax investigations? Or business relationships with foreign countries? Do you think he forgot that Stormy Daniels was 33 years younger than Trump when they had sex while Melania was with their newborn child? or that Trump is under tax investigation? or that his son in law made deals (behind Tillerson's back) with Saudi Arabia to hurt Qatar bc Qatar wouldnt finance his son-in-law's father real estate deal? of course not. Only a huge hypocritical, morally and logically deficient individual who thrives off the likes of Q or parler would operate in such a knee jerk manner. Hes just trolling and pushing buttons. LOL, so you have your feelings hurt becuase not many here agree with you, that's pretty much it. You as most true trump supporters refuse to acknowledge how really bad trump has been for this country. He has set it back decades. You refuse to accept the fact that there are republicans here on this site who have a major disdain for trump so you must flip the narrative to get the topic where you want it. Show me where there are a whole lot of people here who like AOC or think highly of Pelosi? You ignore that and no matter your weak attempts at denial you still support trump , you , chico and Cred. trumps attempts to derail our democracy with his BS election fight and his total abandonment of the American people when it comes to the virus is the reason he is and should be topic number one .After all he is still the president as disgusting as that is. |

I get frustrated with the status quo element of the democratic party. There are plenty of young people with fresh ideas in the party and yet they keep electing the same stale old, white leadership. I find a lot of them (I'm looking at you Pelosi) to be hypocritical. They talk a good game but never commit to real change. Look at climate change. Every major political party in every democracy except the US can get shit done on that and Pelosi flat refuses to even address it but claims she is a proponent for sustainability. Schumer is a puppet and a wimp I have never seen a senator from NY literally the financial and social capital of the world with an inability to drive change. Their leadership and the push to the coastal elite as the base has driven the loss of blue collar and rural voters. Both of whom are widely ignored by both parties. I really get why they overwhelmingly went for Trump, he has the only one to speak directly too them. This might seem like I don't like them because they aren't liberal enough and maybe so. I have no problem with moderates but with out deviation from the norm progress cannot be made. |

I agree with this 100%. In regards to immigration in general, it's absolutely pathetic that the sides haven't been able to make an agreement towards strengthening enforcement of our immigration laws and some sort of pathway for immigrants already here. D.C. is the home for old and stale. Agreed. Both sides. Voters have to be more willing to vote out incumbents.
IMO politicians look the other way on immigration for two reasons a. we need immigrants for the work force for myriad of reasons. b. Businesses both large and small support the hiring of undocumented workers to be exploited for cheap labor. Like you said we need to have a pathway (it doesn't have to be citizenship but at least legal status). Not just DC. Baltimore has had two of the last three majors leave for unethical reasons. Yet the city continues to elect the same platform over and over (I do have some hopes for the new mayor we will see). Republicans should find a way to improve their standing in cities with large African American populations. It might mean being more centrist in some values that they have in the past been uncompromising in but if you look at European conservative parties those platforms would resonate here in the U.S. |

The single biggest issue that every citizen (i believe) would agree on in a heartbeat is term limits for senators. It should be no more than 18 years in the Senate. Biggest ongoing mistake by the founding fathers - although it really took effect once senators became publicly elected. |
Re: When is Enough ,Enough?
Sen. Jeff Merkley is calling on President-elect Joe Biden to employ "bold executive action" to address climate change, urging unilateral changes to transportation and spending on alternative energy.
"The climate crisis is an emergency, and President-elect Joe Biden needs to treat it that way," Merkley, D-Ore., said in a Washington Post op-ed Monday. "That means using every tool available to him, including declaring a national climate emergency and using emergency powers to take unilateral executive action." He added that the country "can't wait" for legislative action, even from a Democratic Senate. Instead, he said Biden should leverage the Defense Production Act and the National Emergencies Act to take sweeping action. Biden could redirect spending to build renewable energy systems, implement large-scale clean transportation solutions and finance distributed energy projects to boost climate resiliency, Merkley wrote. All of those tactics would help safeguard communities and slash harmful pollution, the senator wrote. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/merkley-biden-declare-climate-emergency After Congress refused to give Trump money for his wall, he declared a national emergency that allowed him to steer billions to building a wall. At the time, I was wondering what would stop any President from just declaring "an emergency" for anything to circumvent Congress. It would certainly suck if Presidents just started doing this to circumvent Congress. If Trump did it for his wall, why couldnt Biden do it for climate change? Anyways ..... just another of the many things republicans cant complain about anyone doing in the future because they didnt complain when Trump did it. Not that Biden should or would do it ... I just dont want to hear the Ted Cruz' of the world talk about Congress and Constitution blah blah blah bc those constraints only apply when theres a D next to the Presidents name. |

3 terms for a Senator = 18 years. I am ok with 2 terms(12 years) as well. Supreme court should be 20 to 25 years, to prevent crazy turnover of legal jurisprudence. Call me an ageist, but all federal positions (including President LOL) should have a mandatory retirement at no older than 80 years, but I would be ok down to 75. |

I agree. I would be fine with doing 5 year senate terms, max 10 years and change half the senate each election. Since every state has 2, 1 seat in each state is up for election every election. It would also make the senate seats not follow the the presidential cycle for more diversity |

https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/congress-set-to-ban-surprise-medical-billing-in-year-end-spending-package
Congress set to ban surprise medical billing in year-end spending package Although lawmakers in both parties had been pushing for a plan to fix the issue for years -- with the support President Trump, who had made it a key campaign priority -- the effort drew fierce opposition from powerful lobbying groups representing the health care industry, who questioned how much the insurer would have to pay the doctor once the patient was removed from the equation. Great news, another delivered action |

Yesss!!! I want to go out agreeing with each other. Flat tax is the way to go! I would add to that, no tax on the 1st 40K for individual filers and the 1st 80k for joint filers. And that's it. No waivers, write-offs, etc. On the 1st 40 or 80K, no one pays any federal taxes. IMO a flat tax with a raised floor, protects Americans that need to be protected the most and eliminates people that can pay their taxes from BS writeoffs. |
