After the massacre on Saturday the Palestinians of Gaza (and elsewhere) celebrated the massacre and cheered on Hamas. What is happening to Gaza is not on the Israelis, it is on Hamas and yes also the Palestinians in general in Gaza. Israel takes no pleasure when their efforts result in the deaths of innocents and unlike Hamas the innocents aren't their targets. Israel is doing what is necessary as would we (and have done) under similar circumstances. Is what Israel is doing acceptable? Yes it is.

Hamas didn't take control, they were given control by the Palestinian population of Gaza. And no I don't sleep well knowing children have been killed (I provided the info and direction for an ambush myself that led to the death of 4 kids and an adult (they were planting bombs) that still sticks with me)). I'm certain most of the Israeli's that attacked targets in Gaza don't sleep well either, but it still needs to be done.

The good guys generally do follow the rules as are the Israelis. Innocents aren't being targeted. They are being killed as a result of that targeting but they aren't the targets. I don't get how you can't see the difference. I was talking to a new co-worker and he described an ambush (not related to the one I described above) where they shot up a Taliban arms shipment they killed the 5 Taliban in the front and discovered 3 toddlers had been in the back with the ammo (all killed). He was almost in tears and this was after 20 years. It weighs on him but he knows it was the Taliban that was responsible for those deaths not him.
