I've heard about times in Joe Gibbs' first reign when he would raise hell in the locker room at halftime and he wouldn't be afraid to call a player out to make him play better. I think it's time he stops babying the players and benches them when they don't play well. Maybe Joe Gibbs has magical glasses that make Brunell look like an all-pro. I'm just tired of the players getting a free ride.
Joe Gibbs the First was known to throw chairs during halftime. I think Joe Gibbs the Second has probably delegated this to someone else--maybe Bugel.

If they lose to Dallas, I'd make the switch, barring Brunell setting some sort of single game passing record.

If they beat Dallas, they sit at 3-5, possibly 2.0 games out of first. With 8 games to play, and a team this talented in a division this close, it's too close to give up here at 2-5. The division leader is currently 4-3.

He's inconsistant and he has no killer instinct. Someone mentioned the thumbs up... I remember when Jeff George was behind center and he had that grimace when he effed up... Brunell has that same thing... like it stings a little, but no big deal...

darn it... gonna lose again... at least I didn't throw an int...

And thats why the QB's who lack all of the physical gifts (Delhomme, Brees, Favre, etc...) excel, because they play with passion and want the game on their shoulders. They are playmakers. Brunell is a manager... not a playmaker. And he's not managing anything now....

Give it up. They have to go 8-1 the rest of the way to make it to the postseason
Look, the Redskins are still in the playoff hunt until they lose seven or eight games. Jason Cambell willcome in at that time. Joe Gibbs is not an idiot. Brunnell cannot play defense and offense. They scored three touch downs in the third quarter. We dont have the talent in the secondary. We also dont have alot of talent on the defensive line, and we need a good weakside linbacker. Infact, we may need a better middle linebacker.
our MLB is fine, khary campbell (lemar's backup) played this game and he's terrible though. if we wanted a better MLB, then why didn't we pay pierce, who could not only play, but was already on the team and knew the defense? lemar is 30 right now and will need to be replaced at some point, but that's seriously not as important as QB, DL, OL, DB, or OLB.

with this defense, the playoff are already dead and gone.
Maybe????? What possible reason could you have for saying that Brunell shouldn't be benched when we are mathematically eliminated? He's 36 and certainly isn't part of our future.
I believe the question was when WILL JC be benched, not when SHOULD he be benched.

I don't blame Brunell as much as some of you. He's looking good with the plays being called for him. He completes most of his passes and I saw him scramble out of trouble a LOT of times yesterday. His downfield passes to Cooley looked great too.

He's performing well for the plays being called. I have no clue why the coaching staff is sticking with the dumpoff passes and screens. I have no idea why we kicked a FG when down by 3 scores. It's not Brunell's fault though. He has proven that when he has to do deep for Moss or Lloyd, he can do it sucessfully...but those plays AREN'T being called! More evidence of bad playcalling...we faced the WORST run defense in the NFL and didn't run. That was our key to winning this game. Portis and Betts looked great when they ran the ball...but they didn't run enough! C'mon...12 rushes from CP, 10 from Betts...2 nice ones from Randel El (one would've been a great play if not for Jansen jumping offsides). I guess Gibbs never saw the stat about how unbeatable we are when we run 30+ times in a game.

Also, it was the defense's 3rd-quarter nap that lost the game for us. Maybe Indy was fired up about Manning almost being taken out of the game...but Peyton embarrassed us. But, with our patched-together emergency secondary...that was bound to happen.

I tend to agree with you here. When we win, we win as a team. When we lose, we lose as Brunell. That seems to be the thinking here. However, deserved or not, it's probably best that a change is made. Sometimes change just for the sake of change helps

those passes aren't all designed as dump offs Buster, there are reciever options all over the field, but Brunell checks down to the easy safe pass way too often. instead of looking at who the blitz left open, Brunell reflex throws to his dump off.

Brunell isn't confident enough to throw quick precise passes with defenders nearby. much less on the run, which he USED to be able to do.

Yeah, honestly, I would really like to see Campbell get experience and get ready for a full season next year. He NEEDS experience. I wouldn't complain if JC starts in Week 9, but if he's asked to throw nothing but screen-passes...we won't be any better than with Brunell.

I'm just saying, Brunell is not the problem...he's doing what's asked of him by SAUNDERS.

Our defense (due to injuries and whatever else happened to them...lack of motivation?) and our offensive playcalling by Saunders are our main problems.

You're right that he's not the athlete he used to be...

A lot of the plays are quick dumpoffs though, like they're designed to be quick dumpoffs. That's why they're being buried by even bad defenses, they're too predictable. Brunell has shown us he CAN throw deep...but it's never being called.
