No more reverses or anything that takes time behind the line. Our line sucks...they better changes offensive philosophy now. Campbell is good enough to sling it deep. Yes, there will be a pick every game, but if you throw deep, with our D, it is essentially a punt anyways.
This is what I'm talking about!!!! We don't do any of this. Ever!!!!! |
Use Shotgun 40% of the time
Don't know why we didn't do this more but maybe it was because we had a backup center in there. Anyways I always love the "Use the shotgun to counteract our bad pass protection" scheme. It doesn't work as well as many would like to believe. It allows the QB to be set earlier but it doesn't give him any more time than dropping back.
rollout 20% of the time,
This still requires the same amount of pass protection, just in a different matter. Our guys had trouble blocking the guy right in front of them. Why rolling out on a regular basis and requiring them to block in space would help is beyond me.
throw first to get a rythm to set up the run.
Yes throw first to the 2 WR we have down field right in the middle of the Cover 2 they are running. That makes sense. Don't do anything to bring the safeties up and require the LBs to stay out of coverage. That wouldn't make a lick of sense. Let me get on the phone and call the other 31 teams and make sure they know this new found way to achieve offensive success.
Use shotgun draws, hurry up offense, quick counts....anything different.
Gimmicks do not an offense make.
No more reverses or anything that takes time behind the line.
Agreed
Our line sucks...they better changes offensive philosophy now.
It has. This is what it has changed to.
Campbell is good enough to sling it deep.
With 2 guys haning on him every time? I didn't know JC stood for Jesus Christ because he is who we'd need in there at QB in that case.
Yes, there will be a pick every game, but if you throw deep, with our D, it is essentially a punt anyways.
Try 3 picks and 2 fumbles. And a loss. You ideas are simple minded and wont work. |
Re: Why all the complaining?
So what is your suggestion????? it sounds like your suggestion is sit back and get annihilated by the patriots

Re: Why all the complaining?
I've honestly never seen so much whining after a win and a 4-2 start.

My suggestion is that we are banged up and that until our OLine is healthier then we are going to have to minmize the risks we take offensively. Taking risks with a good offense makes a lot more sense than taking risks with one that can't execute. We need to: - Get healthy first and foremost - Catch the ball. If we catch one of those balls we dropped against GB we probably win and if Cooley or Thrash catches one they dropped yesterday then the game is less nail biting. - Continue to do what we can to protect the passer. Letting him get clobbered will lose us games more than anything we are doing right now. It will. - I like the ideas of using some more rollouts/moving pockets on occassion but it isn't the only answer. Using them once or twice a drive is enough. |

No kidding. I don't get it. I mean it seems we all agree the offense is sucking but I don't get the attacks. Looking realitically at the situation it is obvious to me and just about anyone who understands the game even a bit that this is what we CAN DO on offense right now. There isn't some magic "Our line sucks" offensive strategy that will allow us to score 30 points a game. If there was then everyone would use it already. |
Re: Why all the complaining?
Look at it this way.
An offense is a machine. Lots of moving parts working together for a common goal. One part starts malfunctioning and the rest of the parts probably hide it in most cases. Another and maybe some issues start showing up. If the wrong part breaks then the problems become obvious. The OLine is the engine of this machine. When it starts breaking down it doesn't matter how good anyone else is because you simply can't operate with every play breaking down in a rushed jailhouse break. Our OLine is broken right now. If you want to attack depth I can that argument way more but don't attack the philosophy because we are cornered. |

Exactly. That is not why I started this post. I just hope all these people aren't the same ones who change their stance every single week (I know they are). We are 4-2 and if the playoffs started today we would be in them so everyone needs to sit back calm down and realize we WON the game we DID NOT LOSE. |

Hey, he probably runs his own Madden franchise. Doesn't that count for something? |

Sorry, I didn't think of that. He might play fantasy football. |

Why all the complaining?
You aren't serious are you? After an offensive performance like that and you don't understand why people might complain. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled we won the game as I'm sure everyone is, BUT...Hell, even the Skins offensive players will tell you they are embarrassed by the way the offense played yesterday. Something has to give, and I won't put it all on the banged up offensive line. There's more to it than that. We have a great defense, but a couple more games like this and the defense will be worn out, then we'll have no offense or defense. I mean it's like the defense is playing two games in one every week as much as they are on the field. |
Re: Why all the complaining?
Holy S.., even crybaby "Bram" is defending the Skins, and their performance (considering the O line). My world has once again spun off it's axis

We were 5-11 last year, and now we complain when we WIN a game. Nobody gives the other team credit at all. They played hard shut us down in the second half. The consistently blitzed up the Middle and Campbell had no time to throw the ball. The coaches knew that and tried to catch them in a blitz, it didn't work. We didn't play they way we can but we are still 4-2. Our QB is the real deal our Defense is real good and if not for two STUPID penalties the Cardinals would have never been close. Sure you can make a case about the play calling but how do you know what they called? They could have been trying to open it up Campbell had no time so he checked down. People complain about things they don't even understand and it is annoying, you would think the fact we WON the game would help but it doesn't. These are all the same people who wrote us off before the season and now think we should be blowing out everyone we play. It is clear our Oline is struggling and to win without argulably the most important Oline man against a good Defense should make people happy. |
Re: Why all the complaining?
Most of these attacks are based on who we ALMOST lost to and how we ALMOST lost the game. This way of losing games has become a trend with this team over the last 4 years. The offense is anemic. Everyone was to say the Oline sucks, which is absolutely does, but it should not be the excuse for everything. The guys we have playing have been starters in this league. quality starters. Rabach probably hurt more than any of the others being out yesterday, but the playcalling in the 2nd half is and has been not very good. Teams seem to be able to adjust a couple of things on the defensive side to stop us completely in out tracks. We simply make no adjustments at all, we continue to do the same things week in and week out. I think most of us here believe we should be able to beat these teams we are suppose to beat, but beat them handily and we are not. We didn't take advantage of a beat up Warner yesterday, when we knew they were one dimentional at the end of the game. GW use to dial up some blitz's that would crush teams when they did that. but that is not what he wants to do this year. These games should not be nail biters if we are going to consider ourselves a playoff team. Teams coming up on the schedule will absolutely bury us and it wont be close. Dallas and the D is coming on strong, G-men D is playing as good as any, Tampa's D. plus their offenses are strong. Yes winning the game is great, 4-2 is great, but for the life of me I can't get excited knowing who we have coming up and knowing we are just not very good right now.
