Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2008
The rookie pool for the Skins is $4.544 million this season.
Once Lloyd clears the books, they'll have $9.8 million in space. Minus the $4.5 for the rookies, that leaves $5.3 million in space. Look for extensions or renegotiations throughout training camp that incorporate incentives to kick more cap room into the 2009 season. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2008
Does anyone know how much he three rookies from the second round are set to make this year? And how much money did the team save by picking these guys in the second round vs drafting one of them at 21st overall? Thanks all!

They look at what last yrs guys made at the same number and add something like 10%.

#21 is under 2mill a year, second rounders are less (1mill or less), but you can sign picks 1-15 in the first round to 6 year deals, #16-32 in the first round to 5 year deals, and everyone else to 4 year deals max (though most 4+ rounders are given 3 year deals by the skins). the year limit on rookie contracts is new as of last year or the year before i believe. |
Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2008
Some of the other sites are talking about Portis's restructure and that it freed up a lot of CAP space for us. Is this something new Portis did recently or are they talking about old stuff again? Something about him getting 9 mill guarenteed and 15 mill through 2010. but they never said how much cap space it freed up? If it's something new then what is our cap now?

That's old news with Portis

Re: Current Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2008
Never mind. It was the Wash. Post with how Portis is a team player and how he matured. They were talking about his restructure earlier in the year. Sorry. Thanks for taking the time.....have a nice day....:)
