Re: Official Capitals vs Flyers Playoff Thread
I hope to see them leaving Philly tied up, but if they lose on Thursday I'm pretty much gonna start rooting for next season, except for the tiny little shred of hope that they could pull off the somewhat impossible and win two straight to tie the series at 3 lol. Either way they have a lot of work to do, they need to practice their screening on offense and start trying to think up more ways to confuse Biron, because that's probably our best shot.
One more thing, if Huet allows 4 goals in game 4 I'm gonna start seriously pondering if they should switch to Olie. If he allows 4 goals in one quarter, which, given the fact they scored 3 in one quarter tonight, is possible, then I would definitely be on the pull Huet bandwagon. |
Re: Official Capitals vs Flyers Playoff Thread
I wouldn't be surprised to see Olie between the pipes in Game 4. It seems that the team has gone a bit flat, and a change like that could be what the doctor ordered to get the team motivated again.
Can't say the Caps aren't laying the wood on the Flyers. There have been some great hits over the course of 3 games. But now it's time to buckle down and get the Ws. |

No idea what that picture was Buster lol, it hasn't worked since you posted it. Anyways, big game 4 tonight, if the Caps want to stay in it they need to win it. I hope to see Boudreau has made some changes to the lineup.

He's already moved Federov up to the First Line with Ovie and Kozlov. But he's sticking with Huet. So we shall see. Hopefully Federov can help Ovie, Kozlov and Mike Green get some scoring opportunities. |

Had a couple tough games.....keep riding Huet. I think he will have a strong game tonight. And we will come home 2 games a piece! I'll be there for game 5 Saturday afternoon...... ROCKIN THE RED! LETS GO CAPS!!!! |

And those are good moves, I really like moving Federov up because Backstrom has struggled in the playoffs so far (no biggie, it's his rookie season) and Federov probably has the most playoff experience of anyone on the Caps roster. And I'm hoping he gives the fourth line more ice time, I have to say they've probably been one of the best lines in the playoffs so far. |
Re: Official Capitals vs Flyers Playoff Thread
Whew. It's the end of the first overtime in Philly. I have to say I've been impressed with the Caps resilience this game. I gotta admit when Carter scored less than a minute in the game, my first thought was, oh god more of the same. But this entire team has bounced back and it really looks like the changes Boudreau implemented are really working. I've been pretty impressed by switching Federov to the first line and putting Backstrom on the second. It's not only taken some pressure off Backstrom but it's made both lines better. The third and fourth lines are still doing okay, and I'm glad Eminger was actived for this game because that goal he scored was huuuge for us. Huet was extremely impressive in the first overtime and in the third period. I hope he can continue this for us because if they score we're gonna be in a big hole. I've gotten my confidence back for this team.

Re: Official Capitals vs Flyers Playoff Thread
Well, that's the end of that one. As they say, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. I guess we'll see if the Caps have what it takes to win the next two, although the odds are against them. It's hard to watch your team fight it out for 80+ minutes only to come away like that.

Re: Official Capitals vs Flyers Playoff Thread
3-1 is just about impossible to overcome, unless you are the Boston Red Sox...but we'll see what happens tomorrow afternoon at the phone booth.

Re: Official Capitals vs Flyers Playoff Thread
Well, regardless the Capitals and their fans should be proud of the way the franchise turned things around after Thanksgiving and stepped it up when needed down the stretch. And they should be happy with the promising future of this team. Was there a little luck involved along the way? Sure, but anyone who thinks all the Capitals were is lucky is simply being ignorant.

One more win. :)

Re: Official Capitals vs Flyers Playoff Thread
So, will they be putting Kolzig back in?
Allowing 4, 2, 6 and 4 goals isn't that impressive by Huet. |
Re: Official Capitals vs Flyers Playoff Thread
I doubt it. Huet, while giving up the goals he has, has been playing decent hockey. But stranger things have happened...
I didn't realize that 20 years ago, the Caps were down 3-1 to the Flyers and came back to win the series... |
