Re: Condoms For First Graders?
Snake , 16 year olds can have sex ,with other 16 year olds , when an adult starts having sex with a minor , thats when it becomes a crime . As far as an 18 year old having sex with his 17 year old girlfriend , i agree that he should not be charged with a crime , that seems plain stupid . Now as far as you having 5 years on your wife , well you are both adults , however if you were 18 and having sex with a 13 year old ,,,,, thats a crime < not saying you were or even knew her then > , but if an 18 year old even attempted to hook up with either my 13 or 15 year old niece ... he would be safer in police custody then if I walked in on them . Any how , have a nice weekend SS .
My wife was 17, and 3 months away from turning 18. I was almost 22. I get your point though, and fully understand. We did not marry until she was 19. I was 23 years old at the time. Her parents knew we were dating and we had their full support and blessing. |
Re: Condoms For First Graders?
And you think a six year old is mature enough to make that choice ..... really ?? Maybe we can give kids a nice pair of boots after graduating elementary school and ask them if they would like to hike MT Everest . Or a sail boat to sail across the world , after all , its their choice .....
Six year old children aren't mature enough to make any decisions, but to try and influence their behavior by denying them the truth is the wrong approach, IMO. So, since I don't want my kid to try to hike Mt. Everest, I will simply deny that it exists. I'll try to make sure that he doesn't learn about it in school. Oh, and I'll also tell him that oceans are not real. Problem solved, I'm so smart. |

And you know what else they were doing? Making their OWN damn condoms from the lambs they slaughtered THAT morning AFTER they walked to the farm twenty miles in the snow barefoot. |

If a girl had gotten knocked up in my grandfather's time they'd send her off to live with a relative in another town. It's called ostercizing. As for the farm, there have always been shotgun weddings. My homeboy would be single to this day had he not knocked up his gal. Three children and a marriage later he's still going strong. That's because he still has what so many these days lack: honor, integrity, and a sense of personal responsibility. You're attacking the symptom and not the problem. The problem is Americans are so rich that they can afford to be lazy and let someone else handle their problems. Most of these "so-called" social problems would take care of themselves if we allowed them to. "So you knocked up your teenage sweet-heart huh boy? Well pack your shit, get a job, and take care of her. And don't show up for Christmas unless you've got a ring on her finger. If you don't you're no son of mine." That's how it used to be. Americans are so damned spoiled that they want to have their cake and eat it too. That will come to an end soon enough. The more you allow someone else to make decisions for you, the further into servitude you will sink. You have a different philosophical approach than I do. You seem to think man is a perfectable and all problems can be solved. I believe man is inherently flawed and should be left to take care of his problems on his own. You assume most kids will have sex. I don't. How many pregnancies do you hear of at all male / all female boarding schools? So using that logic do you give them rolling papers and needles if you assume they'll do drugs? Are you going to re-name fresh needles safety devices? Maybe we should teach kids math and physics, not graft and getting physical? |
Creating a group of under educated individuals who are more likely than not to end up criminals, living off the public dole, or dying miserable poverty stricken lives. They are also more likely than not to continue the underage sex/pregnancy problem. Maybe they beat the odds and become healthy productive citizens but, without going through the motions, I am sure I could find lots of studies showing both parents and children from teen pregnancy's are likely to end up a drain on society rather than a benefit. Sure, it solves the parents' problem but it inflicts the results, for good or ill, on the rest of society. If kicking your son into the body politic and cutting off personal support is your solution, then you have made his education the body politic's business. |

Re: Condoms For First Graders?
Wow. great sense of moderation. You're right, b/c demagogues and evil individuals used hyperbole and fear mongering to completely sublimate individual rights to those of hte state, there is never an instance where society has a right or interest in examining the societal health and attempting to come to a balance between that and individual liberties.

You've got problems, serious deeply rooted problems that you need clinical help with. I recommend a lobotomy. |

And who is better suited to determine what is healthy for me, besides me? I don't believe in moderation when it comes to what's left of my rights. And no, Hitler isn't a bad example because FDR believed the same thing. You'd let society determine your fate? I've got some land in Florida that I am more than willing to sell you. If you buy that I'll throw in the Brooklyn Bridge for free. Poor fools. Liberals always envision themselves as Huxley's Alphas. In reality you're epsilons and are expendable in the eyes of the power elite, just like everyone else. You are not unique snow flakes. You will find this out sooner rather than later. |

I don't disagree. But you are not self sufficient. Whether you like it or not, you exist as part of and in a larger group the vast majority of whom aren't related to you. So guess what, your individual rights are not unlimited. The rest of us have some say on actions you may take that affect us. You don't like how this particular civil society makes decisions and regulates individual's actions? Go join another. Let us know when you find one that can function with people disagreeing but unable to enforce decisions with which someone in the group disagrees (like a draft, taxes, the need for safety, how to protect the elderly and the young - silly things like that). Better look for a mountain top not owned by any other group and start your own country of one. |
The left wonders why I feel the need to work harder so my child can go to private school. The first sentence of the article tells allot. No one objected to this in the meeting or thought anything was wrong with giving condoms to children that young without telling the parents.
"When the school board in Provincetown, Mass., voted unanimously on June 8 to provide free condoms to all students in the district without parental notification, no one in the audience objected."
