re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
And the dysfunctional argument? Another excuse as Grads and Campbell have been doing something despite Al's nuttery.
They weren't doing much three years ago for the Raiders. Weak comparison. |
re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
This is a joke....right?
I think Shanahan needs to be careful not to look like a fool. First he benches McNabb and says he is not fit cardiovascular wise. Then he proceeds to bring in an over weight 300 pound QB wiht a history of weight issues for a try out? HA! Now that is funny. |
re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
So, I didn't mention QB talent evaluation being hit-or-miss? I didn't mention that JR was drafted by a dysfunctional organization?
As for the fact that some people mature faster than others, you're right. Many recent QBs have displayed play-making ability early in their careers -- but, not all. Why? I don't know, but I'm sure that circumstances have some influence. Sounds to me like you don't think circumstances have anything to do with the development of JR.
He could have woken up when he was benched and like Vince Young, have an epiphany. It apparently didn't happen. Also, who are these QBs who stunk it up and then proceeded to light it up later? And by "stunk it up" I mean play terribly, not so-so or "ok".
They weren't doing much three years ago for the Raiders. Weak comparison.
Oh, and the body language and play of his teammates when he walked into the game against us last year? Any willingness to play for him apparently flew out the window. It's quite clear that he was wallowing in the life of his 50 mil and couldn't give a damn about football. So what if the organization is dysfunctional, Russell could have been motivated by the simple desire to get back the starting job. A benching should be a huge wake-up call to the QB to play well or else. Even that wasn't enough. |

I have to echo the sentiments that we're JUST bringing him in for a workout, nothing else. Relax people...
Id rather have Jamarcus Russell all jacked up on Purple Drank playing left tackle than Heyer!!!
Lay off the DRANK...that would be Right Tackle. |

re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
Yea I would like to think most know by now....
Simple answer neither. They are both gosh awful. Neither one of these two clowns services are needed in DC, unless they have a job vacancy for a janitor at Redskin Park.
So....anyone else realize we also worked out JP Losman So Losman or Russell? Which would you rather have?
|

re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
I'm usually not one for absolutes... but hell no on Doughboy. I don't care if he's supposedly got his head on straight- he's terrible. I've seen all the Oakland games I care to see with him. I'm stunned people are even rationalizing the tryout. Even looking at him during the bye week sends a weird message. JaMarcus friggin' Russell?

AND hey, they pulled Brandon Banks and Anthony Armstrong from the trash heap...so I'm good with checking out Russel |
Re: Redskins
No I don't have a hard time figuring out what this "fan" thing is all about. I just don't spend alot of time on "Cloud 9", so would you please send me a postcard while you're there? Just because I'm looking at things from a REALISTIC standpoint doesn't mean I don't understand what it takes to be a fan. Oh yeah jokes may not be my thing, but neither is kool-aid slurping. What is it like?
I wouldn't know |
Re: Redskins
This is the point I was putting across but according to another poster, I don't know what this "fan thing" is about.
Along with jokes you also seem to have problems figuring out when someone is just busting your balls a little. Chill out man. |

re: Skins work out JaMarcus Russell (and a bunch of other free agents)
Come on now, Russell is a project and no threat to any starting QB in this league. Kyle S. said they are working out a few other QBs too. Regardless of what happened Sunday, I think we would still be working guys out. This is a common thing coaches do during a bye. It's more of a scouting and info gathering process for the future.
Do the Colts or Patriots do this? |

Work out guys during the bye? Actually, when he was first cut from the Raiders the Colts were rumored to have an interest in him. When all is said and done though, it sounds like the Skins were just doing his agent a favor by giving him a workout and getting his name back out there. |
