Something doesn't feel right, with teams making moves this early. Unless these plans were made far enough in advance that they already did their research and knew their guy beforehand (doubtful seeing as how Reid was under contract) it just feels like AZ is rushing to grab Reid.

I agree. I would add that with all of the personal life turmoil that Reid has been through over the last few years, taking a break for a year and catching his breath would be a good idea. He is a human being after all.

Looks like he's bulling ahead and going to AZ anyway, though.

Reid could actually make Ariz a contender soon. The d is in place

He would be a great choice. Reid is the only fired coach that deserves another shot as a HC.

Still think Arizona should do its due diligence first

Not a fan of Reid to AZ?

I wouldn't have fired Whisenhunt in AZ. He took them to a super bowl. His QB is Kevin Kolb. Yes that is his/GM's mistake for getting him, but I would have just fired the GM. This team started off great then injuries hit the OL hard and the QB had zero time to throw. I would have given Whisenhunt another year to fix the team.

Also Andy Reid--although I agree he should take time off--maybe he knows that football is best for him to get his mind off of his sons death. I remember hearing Mike Shanahan saying that the time off he had from coaching was fun, but after a couple of months it got old, he got bored and his wife was telling him to get out of the house. Reid knows what he's doing. I think he would be great in San Diego, Arizona, and Cleveland.

The thing I'm most curious to see is where Chip Kelly ends up

ESPN said earlier that Cleveland wants saban really bad, I just don't see him being a great NFL head coach. Chip Kelly may stay at Oregon, they will offer him a great deal I'm sure but we'll see. I agree with Wiz he was good in Arizona.

Really don't see Saban in Cleveland. Chip Kelly is being pretty heavily pursued by Philly and Cleveland. I think he likes the idea of San Diego. If I was Carolina, I'd call him.

Reid in Arizona, does that mean he'll be the GM there too?

Saban was an assistant coach for Belichick in Cleveland. Belichick had quite the coaching staff and personnel in Cleveland, the move to Baltimore screwed everything for Belichick. He had Saban, Schwartz, Mangini, Ferentz, Michael Lombardi, Ozzie Newsome, Pioli, Demitroff, Phil Savage, Mike Tannenbaum. That is impressive, 6 GM's, 3 NFL coaches (4 if you count Belichick), 2 college coaches. Belichick was surrounded with lots of brain power.

Watch this piece if you get a chance, great stuff!

I don't think Reid would work well as the GM and HC but then again he's a damn good football guy so who knows.

I thought he was basically in charge of all football operations until 2 or 3 seasons ago. There was Heckert but I always thought and heard that the person with the final say was Reid, basically making him in charge of everything.

I think anyone would be crazy to leave Alabama for Cleveland and inherit their mess. Kelly seems like the kind of coach who would want to be in charge of all personel and football operations.
