Your assumption that all child deaths or violence is due to "piss poor parenting" , is moronic. You also need to learn how to read . #93
Please point to where I stated 'All child deaths'. Eventually you'll realize that your brand of hysterical rhetoric doesn't work here. Thanks for playing though, it brightens my day. |

Our small town made national news for all the wrong reasons. People are stupid. Mental health is truly a big issue in the US. (probably the world) Props to the local police officers for responding so quickly. |
Re: Five-year-old boy accidentally shoots, kills sister
Still don't understand why gun owners who kill people or leave guns lying around are mental cases ...only after the shooting, before hand they are good solid responsible NRA gun owning citizens, why is that?

The NRA's misguided belief is that all mistakes are preventable. In every death case listed in this thread, someone could have done something to prevent the death. But the point is we're humans, we're not perfect, we never will be. If guns are in homes some kids are going to die, because there will be a fraction who make mistakes. That's not successful prevention. |
Re: Five-year-old boy accidentally shoots, kills sister
Some people just shouldn't have guns, much like some people shouldn't have kids. And when you combine the two it's a bomb waiting to go off.

It seems clear we should outlaw people and endorse a new species...... |

Re: Five-year-old boy accidentally shoots, kills sister
i am really on the fence on whether i want to own a gun or not.
right now we live in a very safe neighborhood and have no need for protection but . . when we move to treme i may feel differently. im not sure my 60 lb mutt is all i need in terms of home security. before when i lived in unsavory places, he was all i needed bc i didnt have a kid but now . . idk, im really torn on the issue. then when we move back to maryand we are probably looking for a home in a not so great but affordable area . . really on the fence. |
Re: Five-year-old boy accidentally shoots, kills sister
if you choose to own a gun just commit early and often to the safety training involved. (I may get hammered on this point but) train your children early that real guns are not toys, show them the basic safety points, and stress they aren't to use them without supervision. Above all, keep them it in a good lock box, and keep weapon unloaded except when being used for training or obviously actual need.
