AP and Trent are good friends, so I'll believe this 1000 times over anything JLC writes:

@michaelpRTD
Adrian Peterson: “I don’t know where that came from. I talk to him all the time and I’ve never heard him say that.” (On Trent Williams report)

Per @JasonLaCanfora
Trent Williams issues with Skins are not financial at all according to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation. He's told teammates he has demanded a trade or his release from the club due to their handling of his recent medical situation. Has vowed not to play for them

What I do not get is the statement in itself. Just thinking that no professional athlete would ever demand a trade and admit to a 'medical situation' in the same breath. Kind of defeats the trade demands.

JLC hates the skins and loves bashing them, its a fake story.

He is a perennial pro bowler, there is no denying his ability to play an important position. The issue is averaging to miss 1/4 of the games over the last 3 years and he is over the age of 30, so I won't expect his health trend to improve. If Sportrac has NFL tackle salaries correct Trent is getting 85% of the $16 mil top pay for his position. That is $1 mil a game, Trent plays about 12 games a year. The numbers don't add up for giving him a raise.

If Trent was on the open market right now dude would get paid. Some of you guys are really overthinking this.

He'd be the highest paid T for sure

And some of you (not you Matty) are under-thinking this. Trent has been a warrior for us, pure and simple. Is he perfect? No. The suspensions and injuries have been frustrating -- but that frustration is so great because his contributions have been so great. (I'll always be grateful for the bitch slap of Richard Sherman after the Seahawks payoff loss.)

The cap gurus will set to work and I am sure do their level best to massage the cap spend to make him happy and retain Scherff. Is it possible that we lose someone like V. Davis in the process? Absolutely. But that's always a possibility.
As far as I'm concern he can go. He's hardly ever healthy. He gets beat frequently. Trade that bum right now!
Do you even watch the Redskins?
Just tossing out a general question, does anyone feel good about breaking in a rookie QB with anyone other than Trent protecting his blind side?
HA!

No! And both he and his agent know this. There isn't a viable option on the roster to replace him. That said, they don't have to. He's not going to not show up for the next two years...

They'll probably come up with a way to get him extended, but if it were me, anything I give him above what he is currently owed will be based on incentives given the amount of time he has missed over the last three years.

I can't vote, because I am in neither camp. Don't pay him anymore, and don't trade him - in 2019.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal

It's very simple. You either play, or you sit home. Maybe an injury happens to a SB contenting type of team in training camp.

I don’t know, Moses is saying what JLC is saying.

If Trent doesn’t come back, Scherff to LT, Martin at LG, Piersbacher at RG. scherff was a hell of a LT in college.
has played 120 games out of 144 in his career, PRETTY DAMN DURABLE
If those 24 missed games were spread relatively evenly over 9 years, then i'd agree with you. but they haven't been. he's missed the most time in the past few years. Which is normal, you know, when a player has gotten old and the wear and tear on his body has accumulated.

I'm not saying Williams is garbage. He's still elite.... but there is no reason to give him a big money new contract when he still has 2 years left on his current deal and he's been struggling with injuries recently.

You don't trade a guy like him. You don't cut him. You don't give him a new contract. You make him play out this year and then reevaluate the contract situation next year.

sure, he's holding out now, but who cares? He's not going to miss real games. He'll show up for week 1 and that's all i care about.
