Re: Redskins Salary Cap Status - 2020
After cutting Norman and Richardson, we have the 9th most cap space of any team. Once we cut Reed, we'll be 6th.
We will have plenty of room to resign our own guys and be big players in free agency. |

Original post updated again to reflect the release of Richardson. Deuces.

Thanks for keeping this updated Schneed.
So on Richardson, does the 6M dead money all accelerate to this season? |

So on Richardson, does the 6M dead money all accelerate to this season?
Exactly, yeah. So the net savings on the cap this year is only $2.5M. You have to eat the $6M in dead cap, but you get rid of $8.5M in salary, hence net $2.5M savings. Addition by subtraction, irrespective of the cap impact. This makes room for a 4th round rookie or some such who could occupy the roster spot and actually contribute something even if only on teams. |

It is good to see the team making common sense moves at the appropriate time of the season

How much does retiring/releasing Reed save us? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's a big number and the other big one is Ryan K...tea leaves say he will probably sign an extension which should reduce our cap number. I think Trent is all but back at the moment. Once Reed is taken care of...turn attention towards Scherff, Dunny, and possible Flowers extensions. Go into Free Agency with a clearer picture. Maybe even with Olsen on the team by then. |

We should have plenty of money to be quite aggressive in keeping our own guys and getting some quality FA’s in here

If I were a betting man, I would say that he will be extended on a team friendly deal. I don't think he's going to expect to be a starter and I think his leadership will be key, given how many young players we have on the d-line. Also, he wants to stick around, so I see no downside on him staying. |

I’m fine with bringing Kerrigan back, I think he’s the type of vet that Rivera loves

Can’t have too many pass rushers. Kerrigan is a good culture guy too.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I would not pay Kerrigan $12.8 million because he is a good guy. He needs much more production. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/washington-redskins/ryan-kerrigan-7731/ |
