Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
If I can act as mediator here, I don't think anyone here is suggesting we let Heinicke walk.
I wholeheartedly say sign him up as he certainly looks like he has more upside than Allen. Like many though, I am concerned that he's not durable enough and that we've only seen a small sample size in the pro's. Thus I want him here to complete against whoever else comes here, and if he win's great; I just wouldn't hang the immediate future of the team on him without at least giving him adequate competition to prove himself against.
Totally agree. On the flipside I dont think anyone is saying we should anoint Heineken the week one starter with zero competition or free agent acquisitions to consider. Some, like myself, are just really impressed by what he did and rooting for him to win the job. Or at the very least if we bring in a Stafford we know we got a very capable backup. Only time will tell. |

Nope, but you can have one that says PUNCH THE CEO |

Depends on who is on the other side of the desk. |

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
Ouch. Fanboy. That cut deep. You can coach the kid up to be more selective on running and how to protect your body, ie when to slide like Russell Wilson. You know what you can’t coach? “IT”. Intelligence, decision making, and to some extent, accuracy. Heinicke has those intangibles. Something Haskins did not. It’s not like taking a risk on him is a financial burden to the franchise if he can’t stay health and stay in the league. But if he can through strategic coaching, look at his ceiling. It’s high. Deal with THAT, non-believer.
Preach Mr President. Seriously though, there's zero risk in keeping him and giving him a shot. Regardless of his alleged health issue, we can't go all in based on one game and a half, we need competition and insurance. All we saying is he's more than earned the right to have a shot at the starting job. Make him live in the weight room until next September and you might have the best QB steal in NFL history. |
Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke
I don't minding keeping TH but if he is our only plan for QB1 in 21, yeah no thanks.

Hey we won the division with a bust, a guy coming off the most horrific injury of any quarterback ever, and kyle fuckin allen. I highly doubt that 7 wins takes the division next year but i also highly doubt there will not be a new quarterback on our roster in week one. More than likely Heineken will be the backup. We will have a big name vet starting. Unless Heineken impresses that much in camp. Either way we will have a much better quarterback group next season. |

Ron would have came out and said "Taylor has proven he can be a starter for us" if he wasn't in the market for a big time QB.. It's clear with the reports and from his press conference that he is aggressively looking to add a QB. |

I’ve been thinking more about this since someone mentioned it though. He is a fit for the system we run? I’d love Stafford as he is a consistent top talent. But there also has to be a scheme for too. Stafford is going to command at least a 1st, which at 19, is a steal for his arm talent for the next 5 years. Deshaun Watson would be a dream come true and a better scheme fit but I don’t know if he would constitute WFT as a contender for next year which I hear is his preference. I would bet the farm for him though. |
