Giants | More about Tyree signing
Thu, 23 Mar 2006 05:50:15 -0800

Ralph Vacchiano, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Giants WR David Tyree's five-year contract is worth $7.5 million. It also included a signing bonus of about $1.5 million. Giants' general manager Ernie Accorsi insisted that "this has nothing to do with the receiver situation. Quite simply, this signing is about special teams." "David Tyree is clearly the best special teams player I've ever been around," Accorsi added. "That's enough for him to earn the money he will receive." Accorsi added that the Giants stepped up their effort to re-sign the restricted free agent because of "rumblings" about a team signing him to an offer sheet. The Baltimore Ravens had expressed an interest in Tyree.

Glenn said he is not making any contract demands and has no plans to hold out, but he would like for them to consider giving him a raise.

asking for a raise with no leverage probably isn't going to end up with more money in your pockets.

The salary cap only counts against the 52 highest payed players on the roster. So assuming that at least 52 players were making at least as much as Bethea, the Skins recieve absolutely no cap relief.

and whoever you cut, the next guy comes in, so cutting a 350k player (if he was in your top 51 or 52 or whatever), would be replaced by either another 350k player or a 275k player... maxxing your possible savings at 75k :(

obviouosly runyan is a big deal and he'll continue to help the eagles, a very solid piece on the O-line.

We looked into cowhart, but he is older and slower, and in the end, the skins probably never made an offer, since he didn't visit.
