The mis-construed quote by someone else about D'Boyz has already been removed.

D'Boyz is a class act.

A respectable and honorable opponent.

Agreed. dBoyz, has held the St sitiuation with the utmost concern. He is in no way wishing ill will to Sean Taylor. Classy fans from toher teams are always welcome on our board.

Hopefully Taylor didn't suffer brain damage from the blood loss. I'm looking at this like the Kevin Everett situation - even if he doesn't play another down, recovering to the point that he can function and care for his family is the most important thing to hope for.

Drew Rosenhaus confirms he's out of surgery and in extrememly critical condition.

One good thing I am not hearing is that he is in "grave" condition.

Grave is a term used when you are slipping away.

Never thought extremely critical would be good news.

I feel sad, upset, and dejected. This is cold blood attempted murder! A man should be safe in his own home...if you're going to rob somebody at gun point why don't you just f'ing ask him to give you what he has instead of shooting him?

Here is a link to Redskins.com with some player interviews. CP's is one of his best friends. I think it must be very hard for him to deal with this and give a this interview.

I read on an eagles fan site (in a post without a link) that Taylor was DOA at the hospital, but they revived him. If so, that's not good as he may have suffered brain damage.

Possible brain damage?? Oh no. Damn it damn it damn it. I'm with SGG on the feeling of rage. An eye for an eye is no way to live, but I wouldn't mind seeing something awful happen to whoever is responsible for this.

The Miami Herald does make it sound more like an attempted murder rather than an attempted robbery. There are so many reports it is impossible to know what to believe. Apparently it was not the first time someone had tried to break into his home recently, which might account for why he was down there (as JLC and others have pointed out).

Of course I'm speculating, but this has to be a targeted attack. The neighborhood is pretty swanky, neighbors have said it's very peaceful, and his home has been targeted several times.
Comcast is reporting:

He's in the hospital... still in critical condition. In the ICU, his family is being allowed to see him at this point.

According to Richard Sharpstein, ST's Lawyer... It was a break-in.. He was with his GF and his baby. He got up, grabbed a machete, shots were fired in his living room. Two shots were fired. One missed, one severed his femoral artery. The injury is very very bad. His life is still in danger. Doctors are concerned that there could be brain damage. He's still unconscious.

This is the latest from his attorney.
Shit! I hope there is no brain damage! This sucks...Im in class but this is all I can think about! I hope he comes out of this alright, for his daughters sake!

As for others who feel like superman is hurt, that is exactly how I feel. It is scary and sad, and humbling to see such a strong person be in a weak condition. Lets just pray he can come out of this alright, and be there for his daughter and GF.

I listened to John Zarella reporting doctors were "worried about possible brain damage."

A few minutes later, a MASN reporter quoted Zarella as saying Docs were "VERY worried.." Zarella didn't say "very"

Just heard the same reporter quote him as saying they were 'VERY MUCH worried..."

Watch those reports!

Words matter.

Get it right, guys.

This is nuts. I remember I heard it this morning on the radio and I didnt think it was actually our ST. I actually heard that some people are reveling in this. I actually had one girl in my class say it was the best news she heard all day. I mean come on, the guy is basically in the ICU. That's bad no matter who it is and what team they're playing on, that's getting shot at. This isn't about football or rivalries it's about the preservation of human life.

Can you give us the link for this "claim" he was Dead on Arrival at the hospital.

That is a big deal because flat lining during surgury usually doesnt last long and is less likely to cause brain damage than a whole minute or two before getting to the hospital.

For some reason I think that he was targeted on purpose. For someone to break into a house and not at least attempt to incapacitate everyone in the house is strange. And if it's a robbery, shouldn't they have at least tried to take something of some worth and then leave? I mean from the details that I've heard it seems like they just broke in, and shot him and rolled out. Sounds kind of strange.

I think there's some foul play involved.

From JLC's recent post (cited above):

Richard Sparpstein, who has represented Sean Taylor in legal matters in the past and is a friend of the family, said moments ago that the player's life is hanging in the balance in the hospital. Sharpstein, speaking from the hospital, said Taylor is "nonresponsive and unconscious" and the doctors are "worried about a possible brain injury or death."

Sharpstein, who has been with Taylor's family at the hospital much of the day, said that there are major worries that Taylor may have lost oxygen to the brain, and that no other procedures are planned for right now. "They're waiting to see if he comes to," Sharpstein said. He was shot in the groin/thigh area near the femoral artery and lost copious amounts of blood. He was airlifted to the trauma center and endured several hours of surgery, Sharpstein said.

Taylor is in intensive care, Sharpstein said, and his girlfriend and child were not injured in the attack. Sharpstein said Taylor was sleeping when he heard a noise in the living room. The intruders were at his bedroom and Taylor reached for a machete or other form of knife he keeps nearby in case of emergency, and two shots were fired, with one striking his leg.

"Right now he's clinging to life and we're all praying he makes it," Sharpstein said.

If you remember a few months ago several NBA players were targeted for home invasions/robberies. I think they were mainly in the Chicago area, but that doesn't mean they couldnt have inspired other scumbags to do the same type of thing.

I'm really worried for the guy now, I just pray that he pulls through.

He must have flat-lined for a pretty long time for them to be worrying about trauma to the brain. Don't you have to be out for at 10-20+ seconds for any serious brain injury? I'm a Psych/Crim major so I don't know about medical issues. Anyone with medical knowledge feel free to inform me/us.
"People's opinions are shaped by the way they've grown up, the way they see the world, what they know about the world the person in question grew up in, etc. Sean Taylor isn't the only guy I know who fits his general profile. I've known guys like Taylor all my life, grew up with some. They still have shades of gray and shouldn't be painted in black and white...I know how I feel about Taylor, and this latest news isn't surprising in the least, not to me. Whether this incident is or isn't random, Taylor grew up in a violent world, embraced it, claimed it, loved to run in it and refused to divorce himself from it. He ain't the first and won't be the last. We have no idea what happened, or if what we know now will be revised later. It's sad, yes, but hardly surprising."
