Thanks for the update CRedskins, I was curious to know what was going on with Vilma. It doesn't sound like he's going to test the free agent market. |

Have you heard if the kicker from the Bengals has been resigned? There are still some punters out there that are better than Atterberry. |

From JLC today:
DeAngelo Hall/Phillip Daniels Update - Redskins Insider
DeAngelo Hall/Phillip Daniels Update The Redskins are scheduled to meet with Joel Segal, the agent for free agent CB DeAngelo Hall, at the combine today/tonight, according to league sources. The Skins want to sign Hall to a long-term deal and their best chance of keeping him off the open market would be to make a strong pitch this weekend. (If the Skins don't get Hall, and opt to cut Shawn Springs to save $6 million in cap space, recently cut corners Drayton Florence, Dre Bly and Leigh Bodden are all names that have come up in past personnel meetings at Redskins Park, according to team sources, and are players who could interest the team if the price is right (i.e. cheap). Segal also represents QB Jason Campbell, but to this point the Skins have displayed no interest in extending his contract beyond the one year remaining on it. I wouldn't anticipate much movement on that this weekend. The Skins remain several million over the cap, and Hall could well be the only major signing they make. DE Phillip Daniels, meantime, has a contract for the next two years, but it voids automatically prior to the start of free agency, meaning the veteran will in fact be an unresticted free agent when the market opens on Thursday. Daniels is coming off of season-negating surgery and the Skins have displayed an interest in re-signing him, according to sources, but signing him now is not a priority and he will get a chance to see if other teams have interest. When Daniels contract voids the Skins will get roughly $2 million in cap relief, though with just two NFL proven DEs under contract right now (Andre Carter and Jason Taylor), and Taylor a candidate to be a cap cut himself, the team will surely have to find an end or two, and that salary will eat back into that $2-million savings.
|

I GOT IT!!!! We fix our O-Line with the following
LT - Joe Thomas LG - Logan Mankins C - Nick Mangold RG - Davin Joseph RT - Jason Peters We manage to pull this off and our O-line will be set for the next 5 years. Apparently his rehab is going well. Due to his injury we could probably get him on the cheap, sort of a "wait and see" deal as PFT put it. I don't know though. Given our recent injury woes along the O-line, I would really worry about signing a guy coming off a torn ACL. |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
wheres lemar marshall when you need him. kinda wish we had keep him around to be a spot starter for rock, MW and fletcher . . our LB corps is very thin as i dont consider blades ready to step in if one of our starters goes down for more than a game or two.
so is it safe to assume that now we have a starting hole to fill in the OLB position? or do you think we dont bring anyone of real impact in and let blades gets the chance to compete for the job against whatever bodies we bring into camp? man MW leaving really sucks. i understand the biz but it really sucks. go skins!! |

Lemar last played for the Bengals in '07 when their entire LB corps was either suspended or injured. He didn't make an NFL roster last season. Sad to see Marcus go. His heart will be missed, but I'm sure he understands the business behind this. |

Linebacker is definitely being strongly considered in the draft. A few weeks ago, they were pretty high on Cushing, but I haven't heard all that much about him lately. I think they're leaning toward moving McIntosh toward the strong-side as one option. They also liked what they saw out of Alfred Fincher toward the end of last year (and Matt Sinclair last summer) but neither is more than a special-teamer most likely. |

In my mind he is going to be a solid player at LB. He may not be the flashy guy, but he can get the job done. |
Re: 2009 Free Agents
Apparently Vernon Carey got 6 years, $42M. Wow. Even if he hit free agency, I doubt we would have ponied up that kind of cash for him. He's a solid, durable player, but I wonder if he's worth $7M/yr...

Getting Cushing would have to involve trading back. |

I can agree with Maualuga, but I don't think Matthews is a #13 pick. I like him, think he's got potential to be a solid player in the league but 13 is too high for him. |

Maualuga would be awesome at this point but then we've got to address RT in FA. Things are starting to look very tight IMO. ... as to Fincher he has Marcus' attitude on the field. In preseason he was insanely pumped... i just don't know whether he can be the guy. It would be sooooooooo nice for diamond to come out of the rough in this scenario. Aren't we do anyhow? |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Matthews is a second round pick. Cushing is a 1-2 pick maualuga is a definite first rounder, but you can get a solid WLB in later rounds were as we need to build our lines in the first round

The Jets are gonna cut right guard Brandon Moore. He is only 28 and from what i've read he's their best run blocker. Could be expensive but if we could get him at a decent rate........

Re: 2009 Free Agents
We need serious help at O-line. From what I read by that Redskins Insider dude in the Wash Post the coaches dont think Rhinehart has "the confidence or the potential" to start. I hope they meant just this year...itd be a shame to waste a 3rd rounder like that. Itd be perfect if he turned into a beast and we didnt have to resign Kendall. So old and slow...he got eaten up last year.
I like the idea of drafting an OT at 13...but if the top 3 are off the board...hopefully trade down and get some much needed draft picks for young depth. I dont envy the front office this year... |

Did they trade player(s) or pick(s)? Kitna couldn't be worth more than 4th rounder at this point I would think. |

No idea, don't even know if it's true. But if it is I'd guess a draft pick (5th or 6th rounder maybe) |
