Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

Things we learned tonight:
-Bench Daniels and have Orakpo put his hand in the dirt every play. Having him play SAM backer is asinine and neutralizing his talents.

-Jim Zorn told the guys it was two hand touch tonight, they're still figuring this one out.

-Fred Davis... let's get you to the equipment room for some stickem. You catch fine.... but hold on to the damn thing.

-Jarmon may be an excellent excellent pick.

-We got absolutely embarrassed tonight in vanilla 1v1 matchups. Im sure we'll have plenty of people telling us how the score doesnt matter in pre season. Which is absolutely true, but we got beat 1v1 all freaking night. I will say this, the Ravens Oline was holding like hell all night, it didnt get called much early, but they were obvious calls.

-Why is Theissman allowed in front of a microphone anymore? He is awful. I actually watched the game on mute for a while to get rid of him.
at least Zorn looks PISSED... that's something

We'll see how reports from camp go after this & how next preseason game looks
He keeps on talking about staying medium but everytime I've seen him on the sidelines since the steelers games he's seemed to be anything but pleasant.

really crappy performance all around. didnt even get to attempt a field goal to atleast try out one of the kickers. jarmon, dixon the dt, and orakpo all looked pretty good on the dline. kelly made a good catch, but other than that nothing really positive outside of the fact that no one major got injured.

I kind of agree. Or at least let them split time. I don't like Orakpo playing SAM. And I'm sorry but Wynn needs to go ASAP. He just isn't athletic enough to play in the NFL anymore.

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

Horrible performance!

The offense looks and reminds me of this same game last year. Notta! Bright points MK & DT getting some action and looked ok. Fred Davis looked like shit, not sure where all the TE hype has been coming from, but this kid better learn to hold on to the football or he will be watching from the sidelines a lot. Running game weak.

Defense poor, learn how to tackle, pitiful. Orakpo the REAL DEAL!

TYRON still SUCKS and should be CUT! Will NOT make it in this league!

QB, yea it's early but I'm still not convinced we have one.

But the good news. No injuries to mention, of any importance. This team has a lot of work to do to get prepared for the giants for the regular season opener.

so as I mentioned our same recurring questions are still just that

not sure why anybody thought that they'd miraculously fix themselves

I'd argue that our OL could be WORSE than last year's

I'm not doom and gloom and yes it's just the preseason, but jesus... lopsided play like that should NOT encourage you in the least

Zorn's a ****ing liar! "All Four QBs will get to play tonight" Really, really? Funny I don't remember seeing Chase Daniel getting his chance!!!

Anyhoo...pleased with Jarmon (very pleased, thank you Renaldo but coach needs to see you..and bring your playbook)

Rinehart has vastly improved...Tryon not so much

Will Montgomery at C and Edwin Williams at RG was interesting. Thought EW might actually get some reps on the left side

Did Vinny run over your dog? You are focusing on the wrong guy here (enter owner's fascination with eye candy and any position except the o-line and Gibbs' poor personnel moves). Anyway, you have an agenda. I am giving up this argument.

I love the focus on the d-line this year. I think it is too early to label the '08 class a bust.

Ignoring the o-line has and is catching up with them... Hopefully Bugel can pull a rabbit out of his hat with the first unit and they stay healthy.

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

Fred Davis is a joke. Drafting a TE from USC is typical Cerrato stupidity. In the Pac10, the weak sisters they play can't cover their WR so of course a TE will be wide open in the end zone. Vinny drinks all that west coast kool aid. The reality is that the Pac 10 is perenially the weakest major division 1 college football. Fire Cerrato now.

Yeah. USC has been doing it with smoke and mirrors for years.

He ran over my team and he doesn't care. He'll be in South Bend partying with HIS team when we're all here suffering with OUR team. He doesn't give a shit.

Well when he was in South Bend they won the National Championship. When he was with San Fran they won the bowl.

What has Snyder won?

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

Like I said before, MKelly's catching was a great thing to see...

Rak was good rushing, looked lost in coverage...

Jarmon looked good as well shedding blocks while keeping eye on QB...

I'm telling you, Dixon looked DAMN good at DT too... that really surprised me... he was in the backfield 3-4 plays.

... but I agree with others... why is Orakpo, a guy who didn't play LB in college our STARTING OLB? I mean, I'm sure eventually he could be good there, but he is a pass-rusher in the mold of a Freeney, Tuck, Ware, not a guy who should be covering Todd Heap!

So far we are the only team that has not scored in the preseason, I'd love to say we are sandbagging but all I saw was the same ol' shit from last year. Yeah it's the 1st preseason game but there's really no excuse, we are not ready to play better teams yet. But F it, Hail to the Redskins! Hail victory!...even if it only comes once in a while.

And he's been dining out ever since. In SF he parked Montana's car. That was his job. If he were responsible for them winning, why won't anyone else hire him? Because they all know he sucks. It's the Redskins or its ESPN for a phony like Vinny. The real jobs go to closers.

yeah... Dixon will be practice squad probably... which sucks... who he have to beat out? Golston?

We have Griffin, Haynesworth, Montgomery, Golston at DT... as the 4 that stay?

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

The good thing about the game is this....We will all realise that our defense is top 10 but certainly not top 5, and that our offense is still about #25 or so....the only change I see is our punting team is better...slightly

If our defense was top 5 last year why wouldn't you think it would be this year with the additions of Orakpo, Haynesworth, and Jarmon?

Re: Redskins vs Ravens Gameday thread

We all know the preseason is really vanilla. its not like they game planned for the Ravens. They had things that they wanted to see from the O and the D and while im sure they didnt see what they thought they would at least now we know that we do have some young guys who can become good players. Dixon,Jarmon
RAK will be special.
If our defense was top 5 last year why wouldn't you think it would be this year with the additions of Orakpo, Haynesworth, and Jarmon?
Good question...well, our LB's are suspect, our secondary is not neccessarily as strong as last year with Springs missing...arguably our best player on D when he was playing.
Every new player is always more hype than production, no way all 3 live up to hype...certainly not 2 rookies, Jarmon likely wont play much at all, Orapko will be attacked as a LB...Haynesworth is solid but is not used to who he is playing with, nor the scheme...so if they start out the way they ended the season and end up top 3 or so, they will be top 10 but not top 5.
Remember our D was technically top 4 last year in yards, however, they blew several games at the end of the year wearing down and giving up long game sealing drives...I just don't believe they hype until I see it

Preseason games are for practice. Tonight we practiced punting well.
