Because he wanted Washington as opposed to Buffalo/Oakland. That's not saying much.

I am pretty sure we will sign him to an extension. Plus, SERIOUSLY, did anyone think Bradford or Clausen were ALLLLLL that???
So how many QBs do we have on the roster now? Big Soup, Lil Soup, Pineapple Jesus, I thought we had two others right?

This is either genius or ignorance. Personally I can't stand McNabb's whack ass. I like Soup. This is going to be the camp of all camps. Hopefully Allen can trade out of 4. If he doesn't they'd best get Okung.

I still remember Big Soup getting trampled by D on that INT. Y'all remember that shit. It was so funny. I will say thing about McNabb, he knows how to beat every single team in the division including the Skins.
Dont forget Grossman. SmootSmack didn't

I think he's a better QB then Schuab. This will also instantly make all our recievers better, in spite of all the ground ball comments. I remember when McNabb was playing well with Freddy Mitchell and Todd Pinkston as his recievers.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

True, while Oakland/Buffalo do make us look a lot better, don't discount the fact that he gets to put it to the Eagles twice a year now...maybe it will juice him up a little.

Y wouldn't Mcnabb want Washington. Shannahan,Allen plus a owner that will pay and u get a chance to make the Eagles regret the decision at least 2 times a year if not 3.

I think our receivers will react positively to this change at quarterback, but ultimately, there just isn't a lot of upside at our receiver position.

Wow...I think this is great, McNabb is a probowl QB, all he needs is a decent offensive line and a few subpar recievers and we are set for at least the next 4 years.....

Have the Skins commented on this yet? Reid is giving a press conference now. But nothing at Redskins.com

JC may now either be used as a trading chip, or, we have the best depth at the QB position that I can remember. Interesting to see what we do with JC, I mean, its gotta suck to be him.

Y r we so down on our receivers. Kelly started playing better last year and Thomas was really starting to do big things at the end of the year.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

Think about how good Donovan McNabb made the following receivers look:

LJ Smith
Brent Celek
Dante Stallworth

Chris Cooley and Fred Davis are better than their Eagle equivalents in my opinion, and Santana Moss is a rich man's version of Stallworth. Some people may argue Moss is not a #1 receiver, but was Stallworth?

The only issue is if McNabb will mesh with Shanahan's system. Obviously he was a perfect fit for Reid, but will he be for Shanahan?

Chances are that he is, but there's always that unknown variable.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

The other nightmare scenario now is if the Rams go Suh, and the Lions take Okung, then Bradford falls to 4, but they can't draft him now. Plus, with Okung gone, we are left with a RT option at #4.
For Philly, maybe? But are they better or worse, in your opinion?
Honestly, I think they are going to be about the same. I think they are still a 9-7 ball club. The big question mark for them is can Kolb carry this team, not just win a game here and there. We don't know yet. The other concern, if I'm an Eagle fan, is that opposing coaches are still accumulating film on Kolb and once the sharper DCs catch up with his strengths/weaknesses, how will he adjust.

In a nutshell, I don't think this drastically improves or decreases the Eagles fortunes one way or another, but the prospect of seeing Donovan McNabb in burgundy and gold twice a year has to be a bit unsettling for Kolb.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

All right I'm tired of hearing that McNabb had comparable stats when compared to JC. For starters McNabb missed 2.2 games this year. Thats most likely good another 400 yards and 3 or 4 TD's which would have made his stats 3,900 to 4,000 yards and 25 or 26 TD's. He put up comparable stats in 2 less games.

Interesting to see what we do with JC, I mean, its gotta suck to be him.
Well, like I said in my analysis last night, there are no bonuses for the team that can collect the most mid-tier quarterbacks.

We had great QB depth in 2005, 2006, and 2007 as well, although those player pale in comparison to McNabb + Campbell. Now, I don't actually think Campbell will be here in 2010, but there's no incentive to release him if you don't get a trade offer to your liking.

The thing is that Campbell clearly has more value than McNabb going forward, that much is certain. But in the absence of sticking with Campbell beyond this year, which it was obvious that no one was planning on, that's not really relevant.

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

If Bradford slips, we become a HOT spot for trading down, not such a bad thing. Also, picking up McNabb does another thing, weakens division rival. Don't forget Eagles are 1 snap away from Vick starting...lol

Make no mistake, McNabb is light years ahead of Jason Campbell. Imagine if he had the durability and running game of the Redskins in years past (not this year, obviously) and Santana Moss as his number one instead of James Thrash or Dante Sallworth.

Never said he wouldn't get injured. However people kept on saying that Campbell put up comparable numbers and thats simply not true. It's like if I had two basketball players and with the same amount of points. One guys averages 25 ppg while the other averages around 17 ppg.

Basically McNabb is much better on a per game basis. He's certainly a better prospect then Schuab.

GTripp0012 04-04-2010 09:58 PM

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!

Don't underestimate the part where the Redskins might be stuck with McNabb beyond this year because they don't have the ammo to draft a quarterback in the first three rounds anymore.

Maybe if they can orchestrate a trade down...but there's no way I'd give up a shot at Okung, even to satisfy my Colt McCoy man-crush.

Basically McNabb is much better on a per game basis. He's certainly a better prospect then Schuab.
No. That's not what it's like at all. It's as if you had a 19 PPG guy and an 18 PPG guy, but the 19 PPG guy (who had averaged 21 PPG for his career, perhaps) had an injury history (so the 18 PPG guy had more points scored) and a large contract, and you traded for him anyway. Reasoning being: the 18 PPG player just isn't cutting it.

Age issues aside, that's a poor solution to a perceived problem. And it would make you ask out loud if they really understood the problem to begin with.

I think he means that JC is younger, and was improving (stat wise) every year, plus not a lot of injury concerns...
