Jordan Crawford is legit... he just dropped a triple-double in relief of Wall. Albeit against the Cavs, but this isn't a fluke- Craw's been on a tear the past few weeks.
So much for being a throw-in to that Hinrich trade (according to some, EG wouldn't have made the trade without Craw). Kirk Hinrich netted the Wiz: Kevin Seraphin, Jordan Crawford, Atl's '11 first rounder and the opportunity to get out of a big contract (Bibby's second year released). Oh yeah- JaVale McGee may have turned a corner, consistency-wise. Seeing some nice post moves from him lately. Keep your fingers crossed for Derek Williams.
Its jaw dropping how good Crawford is...this guy is a def keeper and another young nucleaus for the team to grow around. Keep: Wall, McGee, Crawford, Booker, and Young. Continue to turnover over the roster. I would love to see Blatche traded in the offseason, I think he would have some value. D. Williams wouldnt be a bad pick, Harrison Barnes would be a better one. |

Id say we continue to trim away the fat...preferably not signing Josh Howard again, dealing Blatche, and please god no more Yi. I cant stomach another season with Yi on the floor, he is maybe the worst player in the league. Bringing in a positive, Veteren big man with leadership skills at the 5 or 4 should be high on our list, even if he is off the bench. |

Not at all... Trevor Booker is a beast, Nick Young will only get better and JaVale McGee has potential to dominate (if he can get his head on straight). Your Sixers may be in the playoffs, but personnel-wise you guys have as much trash as the Wiz... you just have more experience. And you better hope Iggy doesn't bounce- your team is old! Holliday is the only guy on Philly I like (even though he's a Bruin). Not feeling Evan Turner. |

this kind of crap is whats wrong with the wizards and why damn near the whole team HAS to go. all they are doing now is ruining young players with the lack of and piss poor leadership. the mentality of this teams is a complete joke and a very very sad joke at that. i'm not a huge basketball fan but why would i or anyone want to support a shitty ass team that can't even support themselves. what a bunch of f-ing losers.
Wizards hardly disappointed in season finale loss By Michael Lee JaVale McGee pulled out his iPad2, tapped the screen, leaned back in front of his locker room stall and started laughing. “Kevin,” McGee said, calling over rookie Kevin Seraphin, who made the blooper reel during the Wizards’ 100-93 season finale loss in Cleveland. Late in the first period, Jordan Crawford spotted Seraphin cutting to the basket and made a beautiful no-look pass. Problem was, Seraphin wasn’t looking either and the ball popped him in the face before going out of bounds. Crawford looked at the screen and asked, “That’s already on the Internet?” “Yeah,” McGee said with a laugh, as he showed the replay to Seraphin. Seraphin stared blankly at the screen and quietly walked away as McGee continued to laugh. The Wizards were unable to finish their best month in more than three years with win, but there was little disappointment in the locker room afterward. There was a sense of accomplishment, based on how the team competed in the final weeks, and there was also some comfort in knowing that they probably could’ve easily dominated the Cavaliers had Coach Flip Saunders decided to play his starters their regular minutes.
Wizards hardly disappointed in season finale loss - Wizards Insider - The Washington Post |

ESPN - 2011 NBA Lottery Mock Draft
This team confuses me. Right now I see a lot of good young players. Crawford, Young, McGee, Wall. Even Booker looks good as a role player. Still what do they need to add to continue their development? We all know Wall is going to be a Derrick Rose type player but what do we add in the draft. Right now the NBA Draft Lotto machine says we'll go for the following If we pick at 4 we get the Turkish big man/Kentucky student deemed ineligible in Enes Kanter. A physical 6'10 Center that apparently has decent range. ESPN compares him to Andrew Bogut, who is one of the more under appreciated big men in the league. If we pick at 5 ESPN says we'll take Jonas Valanciunas from Lithuania. Another physical big man that likes to throw the body around. If we pick at 1, 2, or 3 then the ESPN lotto machine gives us Derrick Williams. An athletic 3 that's learning more and more ways to score. Williams compares to Thaddeus Young and David West who are both the type of guys you want on your team, but not exactly the type of guys that can take you from the cellar to the penthouse. Personally I want to lean towards adding a physical big man, but as the Durrant-Oden draft showed us you have to take the best player available. Also I knew someone was missing besides Sullinger when I wrote this post and I was bummed to find out that possible Kevin Garnett clone Perry Jones is staying at Baylor. Here's to hoping we can muster up one more top 5 pick in next years draft before becoming competitive. |

Wizards Lottery Wish List
Washington Wizards Record: 23-59 2011-12 $M: -$18.9 The Wizards have young talent, but they need time to let it marinate. The playoff window may not begin until 2013-14, after Rashard Lewis' colossal contract expires. The Wizards have some pieces. Obviously, John Wall is a point guard to build around. But the wild card is Andray Blatche. He could be an All-Star, but they desperately need to overhaul his mentality and get him in shape. A simple tweak to his shot selection would do wonders for the Wiz offense -- namely, convincing Blatche that he is not Dirk Nowitzki. No more launching four long 2s per game at a 30 percent clip. If he sticks around the basket, he'll be a star in this league. The Wizards will spend next season harvesting raw talent, as they have two first-round picks in the draft and likely won't have much in the way of cap space to sign a big free agent, nor should they at this juncture. JaVale McGee may not have the basketball IQ to make huge strides, but he's already the best shot-blocker in the NBA. Get Blatche straightened out, let Wall run the show, nab Harrison Barnes and let the rest of the roster incubate.
|

Battie, Brand, Daniels, Kapono, Nocioni, Songaila = old. That's half your team... now if we're looking at a squad like the Lakers, Spurs or Celtics that's a bit different- they're actually built to win a championship. The Sixers aren't getting past the first round (second if they're lucky). Now look at the Wiz roster: WIZARDS: Wizards Roster Evans, Howard and Lewis are the only guys over 25 years old. I'm not counting Mustafa Shakur and Larry Owens, as they were D-Leaguers brought in for the last few weeks of the season. The Wiz may have the fourth worst record in the league this season, but they've got a franchise player, young legs (who improved by leaps throughout the season) and a top pick in this year's draft (albeit, a weak draft). The Wizards new FO understood this season was an evaluation year... You tell me- who's got the better outlook in a five year plan? |

I think he's ready to contribute right away and the Wiz would fight for a playoff spot next season if he's on the team. I also like Kanter, from what I've seen of his Youtube clips. Josh Harrelson's improvement is attributed to practicing against Kanter at UK- he said Kanter's the best he'd see during the college season, so it was much easier to face opposing centers during games. I'm a bit scared of Harrison Barnes, though... he reminds me of Marvin Williams a little. Not sure if he's got that killer instinct/drive to take over. Derrick Williams has that nasty streak. |

leonsis did show young a little love on his recent blog, refered to him as the most improved player. i would like to see young stay, he Wall and crawford present a formidable trio at the guard position. young can (when the wizards go small) play the three which to some extent increases his value. next season depending on who is here, the young players that saw a great deal of playing time this year may see their roles reduced, how well they adjust will be important. |

Step 1 completed. Step 2, return to the Bullets. I just hope they do more than recolor the logo to RWB. This would look horrible: This would work better as the primary, even thought it looks like it'd fit the Mystics better: |

Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
Still as long as the dynasties are allowed to field teams with payrolls that are $30 million above the leagues "cap" the NBA will continue to be a joke. Sure Lakers-Celtics works out well for the Nationally Televised games but what about the 24 other teams that have little if any chance of competing for a championship year in and year out? The NBA is getting killed at the gate in small markets because fans don't feel like their teams have a chance.
In reality the Lakers and Celtics shouldn't even be smelling a championship. Kobe and Gasol go 5 for 20. Yet because of the ridiculous flexibility of the NBA cap the Lakers can still rely on Bynum, Odom, and Artest before having to worry about loosing to the Hornets. Remember the two years Kobe didn't have Gasol after Shaq left and his only low post player was a raw and developing Bynum? First year the Lakers didn't even make the playoffs. Then the next year they lost in the first round to the Suns, who if I remember correctly were under the damn cap. The Heat are also a joke. They shouldn't be able to sign Lebron, Wade, and Bosh and then have even remotely effective role players, but thanks to the NBA soft cap they were able to keep Hasleem as well as a bunch of other role players. The real contenders this year should be Chicago and Oklahoma City. And because of the number of players they have nearing contract years they should have to worry about keeping the team together. This league is a joke. Unlike the NFL I'm looking forward to a lockout because unlike the NFL the NBA needs a fundamental overhaul. The NFL on the other hand is working on "fixing a system" that brings in $9 billion a year and at the very least gives every team hope. |
Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
Right now the NBA is looking at five very possible first round sweeps. Five 4-0 series. The NHL even when teams get swept still have ridiculously close and tense first round games.

Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
Hooray! 6th Pick! Maybe we can come away with a role player or a sixth man. Oh well next years class will be better (:D) which ironically might not be to far off. In looking at the mock drafts I think I can remember 3 guys (Baylor PF, Sullinger, and one other guy) projected in the top 5 that decided to go back to school.
Glad Cleveland got the 1st and 4th pick but this might not have been the draft to get it. Irving just doesn't seem that special to me. |

Re: Washington Wizards 2010-2011 Ongoing Thread
So I've got 2 questions:
1. Will the NBA fine T-Wolves GM David Kahn for his comments basically implying the system has been rigged the past two years 2. Should this lottery news apply to a current 2010-2011 thread, since that NBA season isn't over yet...or to a new thread since the Wizards' 2010-2011 season is over |

Too me the present NBA is very WWE like. Much like Kahn said "isn't amazing how every year the NBA has some great storyline." I cheer for the Celtics still but in no way do I have the same passion for them as I do the Redskins, Bruins, or Red Sox; simply becasue I feel like the NBA is somewhat rigged. |

Awaiting word on David's Stern's comments. Coincidence or surprise that the Cavs' 2.8% ball won the top pick? Works great for the league with Cleveland's loss of LeBron. Today I'm all about Vesley.
[YT]DNV9Syn9yS4[/YT] I mean it's a crappy draft and we're picking 6th so might as well swing for the fences on an all out 6'11 hustler that can actually run the court with Wall. Oh yeah, he's pretty good on defense to, which is obviously something the Wizards can use. |
