Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Honestly, and this just my belief, I don't think we're going to trade for VJ. And I think a big reason why is that the Chargers will not settle for less than something like DT and a 2nd round pick. And Allen will say no.
Maybe if they get desperate enough.... |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
I think he mentioned Kelly may be cut so that he can latch on to another team.
Another juicy tidbit(fantasy super-sleeper?):
That would be totally off the wall, truly. Gonna cut a 20-something year old WR that is still under his rookie deal entering his third year. But only after ONE weekend of practice with a new coaching staff? The first cutdown day is not untill the 31st of August, 4 full weeks away and after a couple of pre-season games. That just does not add up. Why even ponder trading picks and players only after a couple of practices? |

They were looking into aquiring VJ before camp even started. I think they have a pretty good idea about the WR position already and training camp is just reitterating what they already knew. |

Not questioning the FO. I'm questioning the SOURCE. What credible source from the FO has come forward and even mentioning anything related to releasing Kelly and pursuing VJ, or any other WR for that part? Everything has been wrapped around rumor and speculation. Sure that cant come right out and say they are interested in VJ due to tampering rules, but other than specualtion in the media and rumors on message boards, where does this come from? |

I was just pointing out that there was chatter coming out of Redskins Park back in June and July about interest in picking up VJ. The Redskins tried to go after a couple of disgruntled WR this offseason, with VJ being the most recent and only other one available at this point. |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Well the two major trades they did make (McNabb and Brown), were expected by few if any "sources"
Though I guess there was Carriker as well |

I can't say they are sources just web traffic and conversations by local and national media. You know me Smoot. I have NO inside info when it come to the Redskins. Just what I read and hear is all. |

Hahahahahahaha. How wrong you are!!!! The Gus Frerotte fan club has been going strong since 2007. This Beck guy is a total noob. IF they wanted a decent 3rd stringer for the god awful worst case scenario that Donovan goes down, then Grossman, they could have probably acquired Gus at league minimum, and got a former Skin Pro Bowler to boot. I could wear my Gus Frerotte jersey with pride again!!!!!! |

Now thats real creative..... Maybe they could have got that goof ball for league min for a 39 year old used up wanna be? Whats that, $6.75 an hour? He could make 3 bills a week bagging groceries. Maybe we could have seen him celebrate by slamming his head against the padded concrete wall and spraining his neck just one more time. Cool to wear the jersey for your guy I guess, not so sure pride belongs in that sentence. To each there own. If all else fails Jeff George is still looking for a big comeback, said he would love to be reunited with the REDSKINS or any team that would take him. |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Bartel's Battalion is ready! We have thousands of cheap Chinese knock-off #10 jerseys to sell to all the bandwagon jumpers and have tickets already to watch him in the Pro Bowl this year. Can't wait to see him be named MVP in the Super Bowl!
BTW it is nice that they are humoring McNabb for awhile by letting him work with the first team, when we all know Bartel is the real starter. |
Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Hey the guy did sweep the Cowboys in '96 and made the Pro Bowl. Sure the last game at RFK had the Boys sit out their starters, but Gus and co beat them at Dallas earlier when the starters did play. As for him being a goofball? He did go 8-3 with Minnesota. Like I said before his stats weren't that impressive, but they were better than this Beck's. And honestly now, if the shit hit the fan and both Donovan and Rex went down, do you want Beck or Frerotte under center? Also, Frerotte was a starter at age 38. I doubt Brennan or Beck is ever going to be a starter anywhere and some people in here thought the one guy(Colt) was the shit!!!! At least my guy made the Pro Bowl and can say he swept Dallas during their last great era. Not even Campbell can say that!!!!!!! Go ahead and make fun of Gus for the headbutt thing, but he was a decent QB while he was here. Not the best, not the worst either, but for a 7th round pick out of Tulsa he did pretty good in my book and that is why I like him. THe Skins could do a helluva lot worse than picking up Frerotte as the #3 QB, in fact they just might have.

Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
Well, I would say this. The only time Kelly was seriously a part of any discussion this past off-season was when the Redskins put him out there in a bid for Brandon Marshall. Broncos weren't interested.
I don't think MK is helping the Redskins out if they're hoping to use him as trade bait for Jackson. If they do go after Jackson, and I've heard mixed things on that, it's probably going to take Devin Thomas.
that's going to suck.. but VJ is much better so far I'm sticking with my thought that Austin will do something too |

Don't remember his name. I'm sure someone does. Seems like a stand up character guy. You and he could go in together on a chinese knock-off venture. |

I hope Terrance Austin sucks during the preseason. It seems these days that doing well in preseason games is a sure fire way to get your ass cut. Danny Wurfel, Marcus Mason, Marko Mitchell, and now Colt Brennan.

Re: The Official 2010 Training Camp Thread
I know this is only training camp but is it me or is Rex playing better than Mcnabb in camp. All the reports i read about the 11 on 11 drills and shit make it sound like Rex is killing it and Mcnabb is throwing up alot of picks. Again i know its just camp but it bothers me some
