For a vet min deal there is no downside here, we need to get TJ in here.
I'm a little surprised at all the hate directed toward Roydell Williams. I believe he caught the first pass of the preseason, and put a move on the DB that gained some nice yardage after the catch.

Is he the best around? No. Is he absolute garbage? No. He's a guy that Shanahan liked enough to make to the final roster. I don't get what the rub is with this guy.
Yeah plus he's a guy that put up 55-719-4 with the Titans in 2007, so we know the guy can play. I don't see any reason to be down on him, unless we sign TJ of course. Then he might be out the door.

Ravens reached agreement with former Seahawks wide receiver TJ Houshmandzadeh on a one-year, $855,000 deal. More at espn.com. 2 minutes ago via ÜberTwitter

So, that ends that one speculation.

I'm kinda shocked, just don't see him being productive in B-more. Boldin, Mason, Clayton, Stallworth, and now Housh. He's probably their 5th WR, and arguably all 4 are better than him at this point so he won't see the field... Here he could've been our #2.

Houshmanzadeh is their number 3 I would think and isn't Stallworth injured???

Not that big of a loss for us honestly. He's a solid guy but getting old fast . He's lost a step. We really need to jump on VJ but I think Clayton is the more realistic option

I agree we need to make a move at WR but V-Jac is suspended 4 games and Clayton is an underachiever. Housh would've been the guy to get, he did catch 79 balls w/ bad QB play. Bryant could be an option mid season if his knee is healthy, but it looks like we're at least stuck w/ Galloway against Dallas.

So your saying you would rather have TJ than Jackson? That's insane and as far as Clayton goes, I'm not that high on him but he's a big target and a red zone option that we don't have. Jackson can do it all, Big,Physical,Fast. There is a reason why SD hasn't traded him yet, their not stupid.

Re: Other teams cuts - and the obvious should we get them question.

I say we take a look at James Hardy. Another unproductive 2nd round pick from that dreaded 2008 draft. Might be unproductive cuz of Buffalo system. He's 6'5", runs a 4.4. Remember earlier in the offseason, all the talk about Mike Shanahan making Malcolm Kelly the next Brandon Marshall, using him in that role? Or Remember the talk of Kyle Shanahan turning Malcolm Kelly into the next Andre Johnson, moving him all around creating headaches for defenses to cover him? This guy is faster, although has had injury problems, is healthy now. He's a much younger option than Clayton, who hasnt been productive in 6 years.

That means nothing. The guy doesn't know how to run routes which is a killer for any receiver. On top of that he has trouble catching the ball in traffic. All his speed is simply straight line as he's slow in and out of cuts (part of the reason he struggles with route running).

Re: Other teams cuts - and the obvious should we get them question.

If MARK Clayton is on the trading block, we should take a hard look at making a deal, making him our #1. I'd bet he would take to being a #1 in M. Shanahans system rather than being the #2 option in Baltimore, with Joe Flacco almost force feeding A Boldin in the Preseason, and with him winning games with under 100 yards passing.....LOL

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Flacco is so overrated it makes me want to vomit in my mouth, swallow it and barf it back up again?

Seriously, he read my mind when he made this comment. Who knew he would say such things about himself......?

"Quarterbacks get too much credit for wins." -- Joe Flacco, August 2007 ...

Yeah, only you do..........Idiot.

I get ur points. but in our offense, The Z receiver (Santana Moss) is the one who moves around, does most of the cutting, intermediate routes, moves to the slot, needs precise route running skills. The X receiver is the deep threat, running deeper routes to clear guys underneath. Not that the X receiver does a fly everytime but its less emphasized. Plus Kyle Shanahan knows how to move his receivers around to get the best out of them. And was thinking with McCardell's help he could improve his route running. Sorry, I'm just lookin at any option to replace Joey Galloway. AND AT THE VERY LEAST, knock Roydell Williams off our god damn roster. VJ is too expensive, TJ is already gone, Mark Clayton was traded 4 mins after moving to the trading block.

List i would consider looking at (Not in this order):

James Hardy (as i mentioned)
Michael Clayton (have already discussed)
Freddie Barnes
Juaquin Inglesias
David Clowney
Kelley Washington (Was a 3rd down ace last year plus a great special teamer)
Jason Hill (not sure how serious his injury is)
Marko Mitchell (i dont care how his route running is, he has to have potential to do better)

Thats just to name a few. I dont even like them all but think they are better than Roydell Williams. I think we even have an in house WR better than williams in Terrance Austin but thats another rant for another time.

This is a classic example of 'grass isn't greener'. Just because someone isn't a Redskin doesn't make him better than current Redskins.

James Hardy-Makes Malcolm Kelly look like a picture of health.
Michael Clayton-I'm surprised he hasn't been signed yet also b/c of his tie to Allen
Freddie Barnes-???
Juaquin Inglesias-Has never done anything in the NFL
David Clowney-Also, never done anything and was ripped on Hard Knocks for his lazy approach to his assignments
Kelley Washington-Has been great at ST and nothing else through his career
Jason Hill-You don't know how hurt he is, but he's better than active players we have?
Marko Mitchell-He's been cut by 3 teams and is now in the CFL

Explain how any of these are an upgrade?

And all of our receivers are learning all of the roles. Our receivers have to be able to play all of the roles, and it's quite clear he can't.

WTF is up with people and their love for scrubs? Receivers play a guessing game with cornerbacks, and every time they tip off the corner, the corner likely gonna guess right and stone the receiver almost EVERY STINKING TIME.

How do they tip off the corner? By running shitty routes. DUH

Overall I am happy with our team, but.... I wouldnt mind putting Banks on the practice squad and bringing in Macho Harris for a look at punt returner and as competition for Doughty at FS. I don’t like the idea of putting our nickel/number 3 corner as punt returner, especially when the drop off from 3 to 4 is pretty dramatic. After last night i would be scared putting Banks in as punt returner. Granted Dallas’ defense is good, but if there was a mistake like a dropped punt we don’t have the offense right now to score some make up points. Banks has a lot of potential, but I think hes too much of a risk at this point and I doubt anyone is going to try to sign him off our practice squad.

I also wouldn’t mind getting some Owen Schmidt. Sellers didn’t look too hot and hasn’t looked so hot since 2008. If Darrel Young can take the starting role from Sellers, id assume to bring in someone like Schmidt to be a young back up vet, with longer term promise. Sellers has been one of my favorite players over the last couple years, but I think this is his last year as a Skin and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him loose his starting job at some point this year. The Colts, who have a superb front office and issues at the offensive line got rid of this guy. If healthy and cheap maybe, but until then no thanks.

Gotta look at Macho Harris. Even though it didn't work out in Philly; the kid is a playmaker. Would definitely be a better FS option than Reed "I never make a ****ing play" Doughty

I agree 100%. Macho has legitimate cover skills.
