I have a feeling this will result in a similar ending, though slightly more in our favor:). I think Dallas has too many question marks on their offensive line...I don't see them being very good. Yeah, I understand they'll have a ton of starters coming back, but their OL will crumble under their old age and injury - just like us last year. I have a feeling we'll beat them, probably won't be a blow out, but regardless of standings or how good our team is, Dallas games are always close. |

We would except that we are not in the "Lets beat Dallas" thread. We are in the Fat Al thread which clearly means this discussion is appropriate. Ya see this focus group in on Fat Al. Talk to you later in the other thread. :) |

Good point. I think it's safe to say the fans are the ones distracted by all this AH talk. Inside Redskins Park they don't have much time for this BS. They're getting ready for Dallas. |

Yeah, but I don't think Dallas gives a damn. I can't fathom this being a smokescreen, as it is too big of a production, that has gone on for way too long just for the sake of one game. Dallas is probably guessing, but probably going to go in thinking AH might start just to be safe. And your Giants analogy is a bit weak compared to the AH saga. Barber and Strahan bitched about Coughlin being strict about team meetings isn't anything compared to the AH drama. Besides the Gmen were a much better team than we were anyway that season. In reality, the only one being distracted by the whole mess would likely be the Skins. Besides AH started last season and that didn't really affect Dallas then, and he was in his element in the 4-3. |

70% stay 30% he goes
I think the fact they've been talking on and off for months, mainly driven though his agent Chad Speck, and are really close means something will get done. They're really not that far apart. I think a 5th is all but guaranteed. Still we want a guaranteed 2nd, they're offering a 4th. I also think Allen is against making a trade, but will get overruled |

a 4th and a 5th for haynesworth would be a steal for the Titans...it would make me a bit sick...but I guess I'd get over it.
Ideally we should get what we need from Haynesworth so we can acquire VJAX....which is probably why we want a 2nd and a 5th...is that your take Smootsmack? |

Thing is the media likes to create their own hype, and if it continues the media is going to bug the players about the situation constantly, so yeah the players probably don't give a damn, but the mediawhores are not going to let them forget what is going on. The whole thing takes on a life of its own. I don't think the team is going to be affected all that much if at all, and I don't think Dallas gives a damn. They can beat us with AH in the 4-3 and they can beat us with AH in the 3-4. On paper they are the superior team. The whole thing is stupid and the media is behind it trying to drum of hype for the game and to just have something to write about to justify their moronic jobs. Doing fantasy football again this year on NFL.com is fun, but it is also sort of hilarious how they have made such a production out of it. I mean how many frigging writers for fantasy football do you need? |
Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
Anyone who is remotely entertaining the idea that this may be a smokescreen is an unfortunate victim of delusion. That doesn't mean that Haynesworth won't eventually get in line, just that it hasn't happened yet.

Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
Alright, let me break it down so even a Giant's fan can follow along. The head coach is the face of the team. Obviously, Shanahan has a problem with Haynesworth. You still with me? So instead of trading him during the draft, Shanahan decided that he was going to keep him on the team. So week after week, day after day, Haynesworth becomes the lead story because Shanahan has to play some games to show who's boss (he did this at Denver too, you probably don't remember this and will ask me to look up examples). So we finally get to the end of the pre-season and guys like Vonnie Holliday don't have to dress but the best D-lineman on the team has to play 49 of 55 plays against bread truck drivers. Then the team rips him to the local paper (which happened several times in the offseason). This right before the one of the biggest games of the year.
The leader of the team, Shanahan, has been in control this whole time and this situation is out of control. This whole week we should be pumped about Dallas but instead we get to think about Golston and Ma'ake getting pushed around the field while Al is sipping gatorade.
I would beg to differ with you sir. I feel it's all Haynesworth's fault. He was in total control of this situation throughout. If you recall last yr he would be on the field for any more then 9 plays and he would lay on the field taking an injury time out then after the commercials walk off the field. Only to return the next series. Haynesworth said himself he was out of shape all yr and was going to go work with his trainer and "get in shape" and come back and prove himself. Zorn was fired, Shanahan was hired, Haslett picked up and after his meeting with the new HC, Haynesworth walked away advising he would not be in OTA's and would be working out with his trainer cause he was not going to come back and embarrass himself. So basically "if" Haynesworth kept his promise, worked out like he said he would in order to get in better shape then he was last yr, arrived back at the begining of camp and proved he was in shape and provided a better showing on the field during preseason games, Mike Shanahan could do nothing else but eat his words and move on. Instead he stays away through out OTA's as advised, he supposedly "gets in shape", returns to camp and can't pass the physical test, gets on the field and can't last a quarter, when interviewed by reporters he curses at them, tells them the organization didn't tell the whole story (whatever that means), and then says everything is peaches and cream. When in fact it was not. Personally he should be treated like Lavar was and benched until he's capable of playing at full strength for the whole game. Given a monitary fine for each game he is not ready or capable of playing all 4 quarters in. If Haynesworth does not feel this is fair then he can always pay back the 21 mill he took from the organization. I can't imagine anyone on this board accepting a decent size check from their boss would not be expected to perform for the company in some way shape fashion or form. For 21 mill AH was expected to simply be in shape. Thats his job, to be in shape. Heck he's playing a game. Fat Al should be forced to actually go out and work at a construction site, flip burgers at McDonalds, farm land or any manual labor job available for a yr and let him decide after that which he prefers. Excercising hard in the offseason and being in shape and ready to play in order to make millions or sitting home on Sun. and watch it on his wide screen tv after working 40+ hours a week for little money. |

I want the guy gone but I also want a player that can help this team now in return. I understand the draft picks but this team is built to win now, and if/when we lose AH, that makes a huge Hole on our DL

Two picks with at least a second rounder being in the deal would be fine by me. Can't see why they couldn't cough up two second rounders for AH. |

Well, it would have been easier to get that in July or early August instead of this week. For instance, we could have gone after Aubrayo Franklin of the 49ers, who has 3-4 experience. Or get someone else in here to improve our D-line. I just don't see the logic of waiting this long. |

Yea I agree Ruhskins, I think the guy plays with us this season. Adam Schefter insists the Redskins will not trade Haynesworth.. He's usually right on

Niether do I. THe whole thing is weird, which is why folks probably came up with the smokescreen angle. I am starting to think the Shanny/Allen show isn't what is we were hoping for. The guy was disgruntled and should have been let go early on for maximum compensation. |

Did he really because I saw him on NFL Live today and he said nothing like that when they were discussing Haynesworth. There's also nothing besides the initial rumor on his Twitter page. |
Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
I saw this morning on SC and he said he thinks we are asking for too much in return and he doubts a trade will happen. Hey I hope we trade the POS, but we have heard this all offseason.

Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
If Shanahan is the one who decides on the trade, then he stays. Shanahan doesn't want to come on as being weak in a battle of egos and wills. He will bench his ass all season unless he gets what's fair for him. So therefore, Schefter is right.

Re: Redskins and Titans talking trade again on Albert Haynesworth
And you think we are going to get more now?
Well at the time it was a prudent idea. Now in hindsight AH is not helping his cause. He says he doesn't like the 3-4 defense and made a spectacle about this whole situation. Had he came in healthy and fit and played lights out it would have made it a lot easier for us to trade him if thats what he wanted. See teams are looking at him now thinking possible problem player who is out of shape and can't last a full game. Other teams are not going to want him and the ones that do will offer minimal trade bait. All I can say is if I was the owner I'd tell the GM and HC that if what "I" wanted in return for him was not met then AH could sit on the bench in uniform each game so I could watch the 21 mill I spent each and every game. Plus I'd want the fans to enjoy what 21 mill brought to the city. I mean why give a guy 21 mill then "give" him even more of what he wants and release him. At what point do the Skins get what they wanted? A player who would be dominant at their position for 21 mill. When does that happen? and if it is not going to then the Skins should atleast be closely compensated for the 21 mill they did spend. Either give it to us in draft picks or players or a combo of both. or simply return the damn money. AH has practically committed fraud. He's taken money and he's not performing at the level the team expects him to. Imagine paying your mechanic $10,000 to fix your car and when you get it back it sputters, shakes, or wants to stall periodically. I think you'd be complaining to the mechanic or possibly taking him to court for fraud. Taking your money and not fixing the problem. Thats exactly what AH has done. He took the 21 mill and has not fixed his endurance and looked bad playing against the Cards. |

No, just need some more guys to join in to fill it up. Besides nothing is going to happen probably with Fat Albert if there is a lot of bitching going on with compensation. |

It may not be, or it might be exactly what we ordered. There was no discipline with Norv, Marty comes in and all the players complain about work ethics and the team turns around and ends 8-8. Spurrier is brought in and again no discipline, Gibbs steps in and tries to create a happy medium even though Greg Williams tried to play hard ball, Then Zorn who again let the player off with no discipline. This team needed discipline. One player, one, does not like how things have changed and is trying to fight the system. If it was more then one player... perhaps 3 or 4 players I'd say Dan Snyder made a mistake in picking the Allen/Shanahan team. Instead it's one player who refuses to get with the program. Honestly at this point I don't think I'd trade him. I'd be trying to make an example out of him. I still don't get the lets just cut our losses and take the crappy exchange rate after having shelled out 21 mill. I'm sorry, either I get 21 mill of work out of your ass or you can sit on the bench every weekend watching your teamates play... win, lose, or draw, and think about what you want out of life... a job where your playing a game having fun or sitting on the bench wishing you could knock heads losing a yr of playing time possibly diminishing your skill even further. Mean while I'd be up in my booth scanning my binoculars from the field to the bench and enjoying wondering what the fans were saying to AH throughout the whole game. |

I'm kind of past the point in the debate of MS v AH. I say who cares now? AH isn't showing enough to make it a serious question any longer. If we're very, very lucky we get a player from trade who can actually help us. If we're just lucky AH will stay, play and be significantly better than he's been so far. The problem is, our defense, especially the d-line, is suspect w/o a dominant AH. My take is this: if Mike and Jim couldn't see ahead to AH struggling so badly - or if they did consider it but do nothing, as we've seen to shore up the situation - my faith in the new regime is greatly diminished. Mike can't win w/o a dominant defense, a part of the game he doesn't seem to understand well. Much was put on Haslett's shoulders because 1) of Mike being the HC and 2) the unit in place was very, very good and just a piece or 2 short of being dominant. If our defense is noticeably worse than last year we should be very, very concerned. |
