Apparently Gano should have kicked it so hard that the pure force drove Cambell through the goal posts along with the ball.
Now if he does that.. We should squib all kickoffs. We could take out opponents like bowling pins. |
Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
thank you!! There are no other available kickers as good as gano and he is getting better. We finally found a good kicker and people want to cut him for who? Mortensen? Yepremian? Stenerud?
Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
Lol, so much anger -- dude sucked last season and has not played well this season. He missed a field goal last game as well -- the title of the threads is misleading, I doubt you could find a replacement for Gano -- that being said, when he lines up for a 30 yarder, how many of you are confident that he'll make it. You could say the same for most kickers across the league.
Can we at least agree that he is well below average? and geez, calm the f down, its the warpath where way stupider things have been said. |

Doesn't that sound like a Madden add on that we'll be able to buy soon. |

Really, some of you fools need to start smoking weed, get laid, take a few shots or 20 and chill the hell out. News flash: WE WON! We are 2-0 and won a game today we normally would have lost.
Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
The question isn't how many kicks Gano made or missed, the question is whether or not there is a better free agent kicker. If there is, then the Skins are remiss in not signing him; if there isn't, the Skins shouldn't cut Gano. Regardless, there seems to be this prevailing attitude that there are a plethora of un-signed kickers who never miss a FG below 45 yards sitting around waiting for the phone to ring.
It's easy to say "Gano has to go" every time he misses a FG (which unfortunately factors into the annoying belief of idiots that arguments that rhyme are logically superior to arguments that don't); it's much harder to recommend an actual available kicker. I'd love for the Skins to cut Gano and replace him a kicker who never misses a FG, I just don't know who that guy is, and until I find out I'm not going to recommend we cut a guy who just kicked a game winning field goal. |
Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
mark my words, he will be directly responsible for at least 2 losses this year, and some of these tunes will change. We barely lucked out today, so everyone is chill about it. Ok, cool beans, but just wait until we lose one on behalf of his "booming leg". I hope it doesnt happen, but i just dont like playing russian roulette when it comes to routine length field goals all the damn time. tis a shitty feeling when u cant count on easy points a team is supposed to have. today, it didnt change the end result. It did change the dynamics of the game, but until he is DIRECTLY responsible when there is no time left for the other players to make plays and bail his ass out, i dont think there will be such an outcry in redskins land to oust him. like i said, i hope it never comes to that, guess i am just pessimistic. We've waited so long to put a good squad together with a new GM, coach, coordinators, defensive scheme, quarterback, young players, kick returner, etc.........and a shitty kicker almost got in the way both weeks from us getting a L instead of a win. Its an additional something, on top of the opposing squad, that this team shouldnt have to overcome.

*crosses my fingers*
So if he doesn't cost us any games this year, will you agree to never post again? Some of you guys are amazing. I think your major beef should be with Danny Smith (coach of STs). All the penalties on kick coverages, block field goal, and missed FGs last year as well. His special teams has been anything BUT special during his tenure here. So far, Gano has missed one field goal last week and made 3 this week. (one being game winner) Give the guy at least till the mid season before you start calling for the "CUT GANO" crap. |

The rationale doesn't make sense. You blame the kicker for a blocked FG blindly, and disregard the fact that a 6 ft. 8 in. defensive end went through the line unblocked. Calais Campbell's height was a huge problem for the Skins with a blocked FG and a number of batted down passes. I'm not here to defend Gano, we all know his issues. I'm just sick of people who blindly react to something without taking a step back and seeing the whole picture. Calm the f*ck down people and look at the whole picture before you start a whining rant. Sheesh, you'd think we were 0-2 with all the complaints about Gano, Doughty, and everyone else. |

Probably the same fans that wanted David Akers ran out of town when he was here. Worked out well didn't it? Also, I"m not claiming that Gano is going to be some sort of all-pro kicker in the near future, and he very well may not live up to expectations. However, lets not blame him for something that's not his fault. That said, I blame D. Hall on that Rex Grossman interception. Yeah, I know he wasn't even on the field at the time, but since we are blaming people not responsible for things, I figured I'd make a go at it. |

Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
People don't seem to realize that Gano is being developed and his detractors seem to forget that he's kicked a handful of overtime game winners. The way I see it, Gano has distance, and is surprisingly cool in the clutch. Is he the best kicker in the league? No, but he's the best kicker we've had over the past decade easily.

3 OT winners last year. Again all I see is subjective critiques which amounts to "I don't trust him, therefore he has to be cut" lol. |
Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
Gano misses kicks just like Grossman throws INTs and incompletions, and the WRs drop passes, and the OL miss blocks, and...
|
Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
How come no one is calling for the ousting of whoever missed that block that caused the blocked field goal? Or how about Anthony Armstrong not pulling in that pass that led to an int? Seriously, why cant anyone just be happy? Bottom line is that Gano won the game for us. Gano was clutch and that kick was effortless.

Gano and Reed are the go-to scapegoats. Every error they make is under the microscope.

Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
Wow this thread rears it's ugly head yet again.
Well for those who have issue's with Gano... like others have said if you can locate a better kicker please notify the Skins. I think it's pretty clear that if they had a better option they would have replaced Gano by now. They don't. So lets all get over it. But since we are in the mood to fire a kicker (because people just are being hatters) then we need to fire the guy who failed to block for him this week and allowed the block field goal. How come there is no fire the Red Zone offense thread? shouldn't they be scoring so we don't have to put it all on the kicker? Over look the obvious to blame and fire the least responsible. |

I agree + he has the backing of the HC. This is Gano.... “I hit 10 in a row in the preseason. Then everybody wanted to throw me under the bus after that first miss,” Gano said. “But I stay confident. It’s just one kick at a time.” |

He made the game winner and his other blocked kick was not on him. With that said I do have a hard time watching when he comes out to try a FG.

So we missed a short field goal to start the season, kicked the ball out of bounds the second game...so we are good with averaging a mistake a game? Like to see him bring it together this season, probably his last here if he doesnt. Im pulling for and want this guy to play consistently. I would call Chauncy Stucky a scapegoat if he is blamed for the cards loss, I really wouldnt call guys who keep making mistakes scapegoats. |
Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
So, anything less than perfection is unacceptable for Gano?
The short field he gave the Cards was a mistake, but let's point out all the other mistakes that went down in the game too if we're gonna go that route. |

Seriously though, preseason is just that and we need ganoid playing well with amount of close games we are in. Like I said, im pulling for him and lets have a complete game. Im regards for my distain as Reed as a starter, great job yesterday, and big play to seal the game. |

So what's your excuse for D. Hall? Guy makes tons of mistakes (even more than Gano), and yet because he makes a play once in a blue moon, he's all good in your book. The logic some of you apply is mind boggling to say the least. Gano is a scapegoat, much like Matt Dodge was last year when the Giants blew a 21 point lead in the 4th and lost it on a punt return. |
Re: Graham Gano has to Go !!
We won the game.
How many game winning field goals has this guy kicked for us? He ain't perfect, but he's ours, damn it. |

Yeah he did. And drinking during the game isn't a bad thing, but when you're drinking so hard that you are having a hard time paying attention to the game, well that's when you should stop or at least slow down. |

I think some fans just find a player they don't like and constantly point out their faults and ignore other players on the team who might have been just as much at fault or worse for close games or losses. I have a co-worker who can't get any closer to Becks jock. Beck, Beck, Beck. When talking about Grossman it's.... "Your boy almost cost us the game", "Your boy threw 2 interceptions", "Your boy barely won the game." I take it for what it is.... fans love to hate someone on the team. |

When Gano kicked the ball outta bounds to start the half is when I sped my drinking up. I think everyone got a really bad feeling, sho nuff they were in the endzone several plays later. Yeah the D Hall comment was an easy read. Like Bob Dylan says "I had to let ya pass" |
